      "This is Drum & Bass, so we can do whatever the hell we want" That quote should be the "official" slogan for DnB. lol But man, regarding the breakdown, where do you get the time to crank out such awesome and complex tunes in such quick succession....? Btw Ex Machina was the first vinyl purchase I made in over 15 years... Way to go Metrik my man. Much Love from Detroit!

      It's a good album, but not "that" extraordinary (amo)

    • @jacksondarlow4711
      @jacksondarlow4711 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@GemPotagueule that's a great thing about music right? Everyone can have their own opinion.
      I also agree with OP about the "full" album. I'm so impressed by the quality of production and the consistency of sound. So many bangers in one album. Not to mention Metrik used his own vocals, and nailed it. As he said himself, it may not win certain awards, but there are some pretty extraordinary aspects to the album. I don't believe many people could achieve its level.

      @@GemPotagueule I agree, it's very good for a mainstream dnb album. But to say it's the best dnb album in a very long time is a long shot or shows how little someone actually knows the genre. There's been way better albums in the past few years. Not to make Ex Machina sound bad, I actually enjoy it as well, just would never even come close to think of it as a 'best' dnb anything.

      Hey Luke, thanks for reaching out and good question. The main bass patch in this was just 1 oscillator with no unison so in this case no width adjustment required. I do however sometimes control the width setting in Serum depending on the patch. More often though I prefer to adjust width using something like Izotope Imager to control individual bands or a M/S EQ for even greater precision. Hope that helps 👊🏻

    The track is a masterpiece, however it does not truly fit into any real DnB mood in a club/festival setting as it truly is its own journey.
    We may see some remixes though, however.
    The biggest issue drum and bass producers who remix tracks face is that their mix downs are always busy. Look at the care and precision Metrik places into the LFO tool to seperate the distortion in his drum sounds. Unfortunately, when remixers get their hands on stems, the wet stems don‘t work well with their track when they remix it and try to add their own flavour, and the dry stems don‘t have the drum patterns flowing in and out nicely, which cause sound quality and flow issues
    This is why we get some terrible, busy remixes. It isn‘t their track - and they simply don‘t put the time, love and attention into it like Metrik shows is here.
