Honda is opening a new ev factory in Canada to make their own evs. Toyota is also building new battery factories with the Highlander EV being the first model from it. The Chevy Bolt was mostly an LG auto not a GM vehicle but gm eventually made their own ev platforms
Beautiful exterior design, wide stance and finally the right size wheels & tires...However the dash looks very last generational and general motors like, which is not a compliment.
i think its ironic that while some people are saying its pointless to buy this when you can get a Tesla (with a plain interior) others are criticizing this for being too plain- its still got more interior style than a tesla
I’ve never seen someone so obsessed with an EV having a front trunk. Great video otherwise, I’d love to see a comparison with its platform-mates Prologue & LYRIQ
ive seen reviews where they say automakers claim people rarely use them- I mean the concept it neat but honestly if I have enough interior cargo room its not really required or all that helpful. Ford has pics of the frunk as a cooler- nice idea but I would never use it
WHat does that have to do with this vehicle? People who want to own an EV in the next 3 years cant really do much with that information. And when their stuff does come out its only going to put them in the game, its not like they will be leapfrogging GM/Hyundai/Ford
@@shethjones4494 no one is leapfrogging anyone. Tesla used to be a generation ahead of everyone with the model S and X. Shortly after the Y came out others have closed the gap considerably and it will likely be surpassed within the next 6-12months. Honda's new plant will obviously set a minimum goal to be better than shared gm platform cars they are using. Will it be an order of magnitude better, no way it will be a few percent better here and there
@@JD-yx7be You can bet most of those batteries will be used for hybrids. As for EVs, by that time EVs may have already caused companies to go out of business. There has to be a business case to support their EV production as both Ford and GM found out, regardless of the Federal mandates (which they already back-pedaled on).
You mentioned this is built on a GM platform. Is the interior furnished with Acura parts, or is the interior the same as GM hiding behind Acura badging? I did note it has both CarPlay and Android Auto, which GM versions don’t.
the lyriq does have carplay for now, but its likely going away in the future. A quick bit of research will show the interiors of Blazer, Lyriq and ZDX. The stalks are the same amongst all three. The ZDX shares HVAC controls with some GM vehicles, but not Lyriq
Hate the detached screens. Needs one long one like the Lyriq. When they are split like this, reminds me of a “rushed job,” and that no one in production, or assembly were actually thinking.
Interior is a joke compared to a Lyriq. Acura must’ve thought adding air suspension to a platform that doesn’t need it means they can jack the prices up over a Prologue and call it a luxury SUV. Smh 🤦🏽♂️
I can’t with the exterior. Like others are saying literally looks like a hearse. The silver bottom trim is excessive also. It’s a fail for me. The air tank for the suspension looks slapped in there also.
That’s because it is slapped in by Honda. The *gm* products don’t have that canister because they don’t use air suspension, neither do they need it for class leading ride quality. I’m not sure what Acura is trying to do here, appear to be more premium although this actually is not?
Feels like the competition is at least a decade behind Tesla. The only reason to go for this over a Model Y is if you prefer this styling. But then is it worth over a 20k difference in price?
I like it but those charging times are terrible. Acura site says 42 minutes 20-80%, usually stated as 10-80% so that will likely take longer. That makes no sense as the Lyriq charges faster I think?
I prefer this to Tesla Model Y. An almost flat top looks better than Model Y's hunched top. However, they need to hurry and add a sibling with a usable third row.
Needs a Landau roof to complete the look and it will fit in perfectly at the front of a funeral procession… I’m afraid the ZDX nameplate will die a second death 😔
@@JD-yx7be Are you justifying increasing the MSRP by $7500? If you can't make a profit, your stock holders will have a say! And, it won't be good. Why do you think both Ford and GM backed off on EV production?

If you’re talking about hybrids, maybe. Unfortunately for Toyota we’re talking about EVs and like the rest of the Japanese, they are dropping the ball and falling behind. They would have to pull a Honda and build their EVs off someone else’s great EV platform because they just haven’t invested enough into the tech themselves.
Because Honda dashboards are known for being super luxurious?? Ok
i think its ironic that while some people are saying its pointless to buy this when you can get a Tesla (with a plain interior) others are criticizing this for being too plain- its still got more interior style than a tesla
@@shethjones4494 Acura is the luxury brand of Honda.... Sheth I can draw you an explanation if you wish...
Does it come with moose knuckle enhancing pants?
Are you in San Diego or Santa Barbara?
The two tone color scheme adds to the hearse likeness
I’ve never seen someone so obsessed with an EV having a front trunk. Great video otherwise, I’d love to see a comparison with its platform-mates Prologue & LYRIQ
ive seen reviews where they say automakers claim people rarely use them- I mean the concept it neat but honestly if I have enough interior cargo room its not really required or all that helpful. Ford has pics of the frunk as a cooler- nice idea but I would never use it
Your wrong about the Lyriq not having CarPlay and android auto.
And _like_ the Lyriq, dumb front fender mounted charging port.
They are building their dedicated EV factory in Canada, it is official folks
Yes they do.
the lyriq does have carplay for now, but its likely going away in the future. A quick bit of research will show the interiors of Blazer, Lyriq and ZDX. The stalks are the same amongst all three. The ZDX shares HVAC controls with some GM vehicles, but not Lyriq
3:33 - sorry Alex but "NO FRUNK FOR YOU...!!!"
This guys has the biggest ball package on the Car Review set😂😂😂
Wow, I just do not understand why Honda would partner with GM "to catch up to the EV market" and that one one UUUUUUUUGLY Suv!
Hate the detached screens. Needs one long one like the Lyriq. When they are split like this, reminds me of a “rushed job,” and that no one in production, or assembly were actually thinking.
Is the car leaking from the right passenger side?
It’s Acura’s version of the Cadillac Lyriq.
Interior looks like any $30k Japanese car interior.
A 30,000 dollar car in 1980 ?
Interior is a joke compared to a Lyriq. Acura must’ve thought adding air suspension to a platform that doesn’t need it means they can jack the prices up over a Prologue and call it a luxury SUV. Smh 🤦🏽♂️
Front and side looks nice. That’s where it stops.
All I can see in the rear quarter is a small coffin space.
GM not including Apple Carplay or Android Auto is a HUGE mistake. That’s an absolute deal breaker.
Feels like the competition is at least a decade behind Tesla. The only reason to go for this over a Model Y is if you prefer this styling. But then is it worth over a 20k difference in price?
For some yes. This has many features not on a model Y and you won't see 30 a day
Correction: It's a GM product with an Acura badge.
I like it but those charging times are terrible. Acura site says 42 minutes 20-80%, usually stated as 10-80% so that will likely take longer. That makes no sense as the Lyriq charges faster I think?
this may not have the 190kw DC fast charging capability
The charging curve is what matters most. The battery preconditioning for cooler weather is extremely important too. Lease one but don't buy one.
I prefer this to Tesla Model Y. An almost flat top looks better than Model Y's hunched top. However, they need to hurry and add a sibling with a usable third row.
Anyone seen it in person?
Needs a Landau roof to complete the look and it will fit in perfectly at the front of a funeral procession… I’m afraid the ZDX nameplate will die a second death 😔
The crazy part about thr 7500 tax credit is that thr manufacturers just raise the MSRP by 7500 :)
Many EVs don't make a profit so that $7500 goes a long way.
@@JD-yx7be Are you justifying increasing the MSRP by $7500? If you can't make a profit, your stock holders will have a say! And, it won't be good. Why do you think both Ford and GM backed off on EV production?
Its a four row suv?
So do we take it to a GM workshop or Acura when sxxt starts falling apart?
Kinda like can I take the new Dodge Hornet to an Alfa Romeo shop and could I take an Alfa romeo to a dodge garage?
Take this honk of metal to Acura. Let them deal with this horrible software and body panels. Even the Chevrolet Blazer seems to be a step above this in several areas.
If they're sharing this much with GM, my concern is that Acura is selling GM quality and not Acura quality. IF this is just a stop/gap solution for Honda/Acura until they can come to market with their own EV, I would also be concerned about how much support Honda will provide to ZDX/Prologue customers.
Wonder how many will buy an S model and slide off the road in winter because why put summer performance tires in a heavy BEV.
Side profile looks like a hearse. Wassup with that?😂
