Poseidon. Poseidon is the Greek god of horses, earthquakes, and the sea. When the Trojans saw the giant horse they thought it was a sacrifice to Poseidon for safe travel back home.

Fun fact about the Iliad. In the Iliad the Ideal man was Hector he fought for the three Ideals Family, City And Religion, while the others have ulterior motives or are a trully flawed character like Achilles and Agamemnon who fight for Fame and Gold while Memelaus and Paris are Blinded by Love and revenge

@@acedeuce4709 Actually no he disrespected the Gods and while he was on the way home he had a son wirh Kalipso(I am greek and don't know how to spell her name), while he was at her island for 3 years and then That son killed him later on. He wasnt fighting for his city or Family or Religion so I can't say he was the Ideal Man for Homer

I feel like Achilles while he had a flawed character he wasn’t obsessed with fame as much as honor he didn’t care we’re he fought in the war as long as it was were he was most useful and he left when he was disrespected and only came back when a close friend was harmed he may not of been the ideal man but he was a the greatest warrior and perhaps the most realistic man because he was flawed, I honestly like both hector and Achilles and hate they were pitted against each other that Achilles was so blinded by rage over a lost loved one who cast honor aside, but that’s the whole point of the illiad it talks about how the Greek gods toyed with human fate, even the fates of legendary warriors
So Cadmean victory refers to Cadmos the legendary king of Thebes. It is said that a dragon who was devouring people was protected by Ares, the God of War tried to kill Cadmos. But Cadmos did not take any of his shit and killed that dragon. Ares got pissed and punished Cadmos by making his servant for 8 years. So even though Cadmos scored a great victory by killing that son of a bitch dragon got punished so it looked like a defeat. In other total war titles we have the Phyrric victory but Pyhrrus was not been born yet

Total War Troy, looks surprisingly good so far. After Thrones of Brittania, I did not have high expectations for Total War Saga releases
I loved Thrones of Britannia. It had a unusual system but once you got use to it you had enjoyable games
Troy, Thrones and Three (the 3 T's) are my top 3
I loved thrones it fitted the time period so well there was a few things wish they changed that wasnt so like minor cities dont have garrisons and few other minor things but other then that it was a very enjoyable especially playing multilayer on some of those beautiful maps
@@SasoriZert that's the one thing I liked a lot about thrones, I just didn't like the game but I appreciate that there is a community that likes thrones, and there is nothing wrong with a difference of opinion
@@Dhalp661 yup we all like our own styles of games like some dont like warhammer cause of magic, monster troops, etc but other finds it utterly enjoyable with all the different factions and troops type

Love the series already! However, isn't Hektor already heir to the throne of Troy in the Illiad? Seems a bit inaccurate to have him complete with Paris for it (though I can understand that the devs allowed it for role-playing reasons, by allowing you to make Paris heir to the Trojan throne)...
Yeah he is. But Paris needs some reason to be playable instead of chillin through the whole thing because he’s a terrible fighter then getting lucky with one arrow

Don´t know if it´s too late for this, but instead of worshipping Ares in your Achilles campaign, you should go for Zeus instead just for RP purposes. You can do however you want, just a suggestion 😁

Why is the Corinthian style helm that the generic heroes / generals / captains / whatever are wearing (see 7:48 or 39:55) so much cooler than either Hector's or Achilles'? I know it's personal preference, but...

im struggling to figure it out multiplayer
Ithaca: safe faction position on the map (island on the edge of the map, it will take a long way for them to attack your settlements), unique units specializes in fast and hidden flankers and guerilla javelins to attack their units from behind. Has special bonuses for coastal settlements and Poseidon synergizes well as he is sea-focused. He can basically build unit camps in other faction's settlements to negate the fact that his position is far away.
Cons: His units aren't the best at Frontline and the flankers and javs are weak to powerful ranged units like Paris' elite bowmen. Non-coastal landlocked settlements are pretty much useless so just sack or raze them. Strategy: guerilla raids, quickly sacking and razing enemy settlements and leaving before their armies can catch you, Odysseus has an unlockable skill that increases his campaign movement range and agents can further increase it as well.
Achilles: dangerous starting position, it is the closest to the Trojans than all the other Acheans and the most likely to be attacked first. He is surrounded by aelions non of which are friendly to him other than Lycomedes Dolopians. Which can be both good and bad, you can have alot of enemies and threats that are right next to your capitol but also more settlements that you can gain and more targets to raid and sack. Esperia is an example and I like to raid their gold settlement for tons of gold. Pros: Achilles is the most powerful hero. His unit roster is well-rounded with good flankers, javelins Frontline and bow units. His legendary warrior unique campaign mechanic is usually a free upkeep and instant recruitment boost since most warriors back down when you challenge them unless they are in an enemy faction you are at war with. Cons: his good units are pretty expensive. "Hot-blooded-Achilles" is what most people have the most problem with when playing him as it is often more bad than it is good. It can be used effectively though it is hard, with the white hot rage you can just chop through enemy land with ease. At some point you need to stop attacking the aeolians and focus on the Trojans or else you will be getting attacked from all sides instead of just the east. With all the other Acheans way down south you are left alone with no help so you will need to be very independent.
Im confused why do i only have 4 people to choose from? Where is hector. I only have odyssey, the brothers of sparta, Achilles.
The combat in this game feels arcadey....like no weight or depth to the combat. Very unrealistic

Since Rome II I've seen each new Total War title become more arcade-y or cartoon-y. Was looking for realistic and gritty.

No Stellaris music in total war Troy lol. If you mean the intro music, it’s a royalty free track.Think it sets the tone pretty well it’s only a short clip of it

to expand the league make alliances throughout Anatolia you don't really want to be fighting a war on home soil when the Greeks arrive , at the same time expand out into the Aegean sea and Crete to create a buffer and expand your own territory

Why don’t the Guards of Troy use their shields instead of just carrying them on their back?
Thats because in troy most elite shielded troops can be put into a different attack mode where they will put shields on their backs and use their weapons two handed which increases charge but loses the defensive buff of the shield

Fair criticism warning. None of this is meant as insult, but to be used as an educational tool for you and viewers.
20:27 Taking replenish before considering your next battle. You moved back to your territory to recruit, thus replenishing automatically. A better choice would have been to take the food. As a footnote, if one's unit is seriously damaged you should consider combining them if there is no time to replenish them. For example Paris might take Gargara if you put it off too long. But sending a heavily damaged unit into battle will only make it route and make other units lose morale.
21:27 When your army is still small and you know you are going to fight a city with a small garrison, consider recruiting most/all of your ranged units first. In this case I would have gone for 3 Javelins. The reasoning is because you already have all the melee units you need to 1v1 other enemy melee units, and going for more ranged units ensures you have 3 and not 2 ranged units putting the enemy under missile fire which has a bonus of lowering their morale.
26:17 While extra growth early on is not a bad choice, it doesn't really help with your early game synergy of completely owning all of Lesbos. If you went for stone instead and influence right after, believe it or not, it is more efficient than the 3 turns spent on growth. When you barter away the 80x3 stone and bronze/gold/food you have for wood you can then make sure all the docks are upgraded which in itself provides higher growth. I find that not having the stone leaves me a little short every time and I have to build mud huts instead of saving up for a temple (which is still better than spending 3 turns for growth but not ideal, especially after the hecatomb runs out by the time a temple is built). After all, with 2 provinces consisting of 6 cities, only 1 of them will be land locked making developing your docks more important for growth.
~May continue this later, but most of your problems are in combat....

Wish they had made all the characters appearances after the film. They pretty much did it with Paris Bloom.

This game hard..i end it in 100 turn. 18 hour campaign in EASY. Maintain large army more than 6 heroes is hard especially when every corner country declare war on you

Νικόλας Φουντουλακης his mechanic is that non coastal settlements can only build the mainline settlement building and that’s it. It’s to make you focus on costal conquest with Odysseus.

Not really. If anything it is on par with their mythical status. I would say that the non demigod generals should have had a bodyguard unit though.
How do you get hector at the campaign? I downloaded the game at epic store and I don't have Troy for campagin
Robert Ramos New Campaign - top middle of the screen it’ll say Danaans (Greeks) or Trojans - Click Trojan’s and then the 4 playable Trojan Characters are available including Hector!
