The best is the day after look or even two days after applying gel. I literally will condition and gel my hair once a week sometimes because the natural oils and dried gel make my hair so much more manageable and cooperative

Where are you from
The vast majority of eboys, egirls, goths etc are the definition of hair and aesthetic maxxed. Once you take all of that way, they look like ordinary people. When I was 16, there was this emo looking girl who I thought was cute. Now that she has a normal hair style and took out the piercings, she looks like a Becky. Truly attractive people don't overly rely on their aesthetic or hair

I've had pretty long but kinda unkept wavy hair up until 1,5 years ago and then cut it short again. The ladies reactions were actually better with the shorter hair but I'm letting it grow out again to go for a medium length cut, probably curtains or something similar
I feel like what you referred to as the “wet mop” cut is result of the soundcloud/clout era and how cool it was for everyone involved. Everybody wanted the high top style dreads and lowsides (like xxxtentacion, Uzi, pump, ski, etc) and those that couldn’t/didn’t want dreads did similar styling
