      Tyler Blackburn could play Crowfoot (especially since he's of Native American descent and he can pull off Shirtless scenes well).

    I actually worked on that movie in Lahaina ,Maui. I was a young boat Captain doing the stunt work for the diving scenes and the water and boat scenes. Wasn't the best movie but was my claim to fame. I had a copy of the movie on VHS but lost it when I loaned it out. I have been trying to get a copy for years. Even contacting Paramount who paid my salary. They never returned my call. If anybody knows how I can get a copy I would love it. This post is as close as I can get. Thanx, Cap Steve

      That's really cool! Do you have any interesting stories about filming it?

    • @capsteve8384
      @capsteve8384 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea,stories and and a few pictures taken with my old style camera. The dive company I was a Captain for was subcontracted to do the safety diving for Kate when she was in the water. I took J.W. JR out into a storm. Diamond Farnsworth gave us copies of the movie in VHS but when I loaned it out ,you know
      that outcome. I did another shoot that flopped"Return to Savage Beach". I could trade.I was in the credits under stunts I think in Crowfoot.

      Ha ha, Return to Savage Beach, another classic Andy Sidaris film. And Diamond Farnsworth is great, I recognize him from stunts on Quantum Leap!
      Shoot me a message at obscuruslupa@yahoo.com? I bet I can hook you up with a copy.

    A psychic native american detective who killed his parents and lives in Hawaii teams up with an Amish redheaded but brunette ghost who lived in Hawaii and doesn't know she's dead, and together they must solve her murder? How was this series not picked up? It taps the 90's love of the Amish *and* native americans!

    Yeah, I have to wonder what they had in mind for the series this was intended to start. Was it going to be like The Sixth Sense only he uses his seeing dead people powers to solve crimes?

    Bruce Locke [who played the character of Detective Jimmy Takata] was the only reason I wanted to see this TV Movie.
    When the film started, I was genuinely interested! An off-duty police officer, taking some time off to do some night fishing, suddenly finds a mysterious woman [with no signs of dehydration or reef injuries] is an interesting hook. While Kate Hodge's acting was a little weird, I did like how they kept the audience wondering if she was a woman in danger, or really a ghost. As you said, however---there were so many narrative scraps, that we didn't get any real screen time for any of the characters.
    In fact, I think it would have been really neat for all the characters to have some sort of interaction with ghosts! Jimmy Takata: "--My life's at stake. I'm the one going out there, armed with only my breath, to face a Bakada [Present Adjective declension: idiot, moron, fool] with a bomb strapped to his chest." In the show, you could still have Jimmy Takata come off as arrogant, scheming and a bit cagey. Even though Takata says the success of this mission could be "[his] business-class ticket to Washington," he is still concerned for the little girl's safety. With so much in the balance, unbeknownst to the detective, Jimmy is visited by an old man, who is the ghost of a kamikaze pilot (of an aircraft or a Kairyu miniature submarine). Throughout their interactions, the ghost helps Jimmy Takata prepare for his eventual meeting with 'the bomber with the dead-man-switch.'
    You could throw in some personal demons with Jimmy Takata being American-Born Japanese, and the interment of his family in Hawaii during World War Two [...] I don't know, this is just some ideas rattling around in my head.
    "...they don't actually build up Crowfoot himself. All you know about him is his heritage..." I could not agree more! I don't mind it if a character is American Indian and part something else, but if you're going to make Nick Crowfoot part Ambiguous-Native-American...you're going to have to explain to me why this character is in Hawaii. Just because the Main Character is part Native, it doesn't make Nick Crowfoot a character. Heck, it would have been better if Nick was a [Love Child] who bounced around in foster care, went into the military, was nicknamed Crowfoot(?), and became a police officer in Hawaii. From there, you could introduce Rachel: a vague memory of an Amish woman from Nick's past. Upon leaving the Amish way of life, however, Rachel was sex-trafficked to Hawaii, was eventually murdered, and Nick tries to remember her and solve her murder.
    If we commit to the whole ghost idea, the title name of [Crowfoot] could largely be a symbolic battle of life and death. [11.18.2022 edit] Monk is a mechanic, right? Well, I just learned about a special mechanical tool called a (Crowfoot wrench!) If the writers kept with the murder mystery side of the story, a Crowfoot wrench could be a critical piece of evidence.

    This is how I think the show would have gone: it would have been a case of the week type show, kind of like Medium but with Magical German Native American Powers. Rachel wouldn't have been gone for good and they would try to figure out how to change what happened while having mucho angst over their love. The first season would end with them succeeding in just that, but things would have changed. The changes would have been explored in season two, but they would probably depend on who got their contract renewed and whatnot, as opposed to being planned from the start. As for beyond that, I don't know because I merely have Magical Creole Native American Powers.

    As a german I am confused by this. Are we supposed to be mythological creatures with secret powers? If so, where do I get said powers? Do I have to apply for them? Is there a government department responsible for distributing my powers? Do I get to choose what kind of powers I can have? Or is it so that only certain people with an oddly specific combination of native american and german heritage to own powers?
