Hello sir how did you no your brake controller was bad I checked all my fuses and had trailer checked to make sure brakes work properly and brakes for trailer don't work when hooked up to my 2014 Ford f150 ,thanks for your answer?
I didn’t know it was bad, I was trying to diagnose trailer wiring fault and trailer wiring issues by process of elimination. Replacing the trailer brake controller didn’t solve my problem, but I’m glad I replaced it anyways. Here’s my recent video on diagnosing trailer wiring issues. I’d first suggest you plug your trailer into another truck to determine if it’s issues with the truck or issues with the trailer.
Because I had a Ford trailer brake controller already, it worked automatically. If the vehicle didn’t have a controller and then a controller was installed, it would need to be turned on using FORScan or a Ford dealer could do this for you.
Why did you replace that? Did you check the trailer magnets everything else on the trailer? I got the same problem. I just spent 300 bucks for a control module, and it did not fix it.
I thought the module was giving me the trailer wiring fault message. The controller did seem worn but it turned out the main trailer brake wire was pinched on the trailer before coming down to the brakes. I ran all new line between the trailer junction box and the trailer brakes and fixed the problem.
@@jacobsupgrades I’m having same issue right now. 21 model I’m trying to get back home to chase wires. I replaced the brake control module Saturday from Ford the reprogrammed truck still didn’t fix. The magnets go bad also I hope that’s not my problem
@@MississippiHot_Shot it could be many different things. I have a video for tracing it down and diagnosing here th-cam.com/video/pUVANtl3YIg/w-d-xo.htmlsi=vK1C9hOGZdvEkkJk I hope it's an easy fix for you.
@@jacobsupgrades man I’m replacing 3 wheels brakes and drums. Just put brakes on a year ago but I got 100k miles on these although I have 250k on my trailer and just now really having and trouble with it.
@@MississippiHot_Shot Wow you put a lot of miles on your trailer and truck. Were the brakes already wore out and causing the magnets to trip? If you still have life in the pads and drums you can adjust the magnets if they're not self adjusting.
@@jacobsupgrades yeah I took mine out and checked it. Make sure it was getting power and you don’t have to take anything but your center console just popped it up the top tray like you did and the radio facing and then that that little black panel right beside the gas pedal and that’s it you can pop the vent cluster right out
I'm thinkin I'll screw my replacement to directly to the dash. Good grief. Nice job by the way, I admire your determination.
@Cindy & Randy Finamore, it's a challenge but well worth the reward of doing it yourself.
I always hated working on Fords they always make everything so complicated change great video 👍
@Wayne's videos, they don't make it easy that's for sure.
Driving a ford and using dewalt… my dude knows what’s up
@johnanthonyholt2306, thanks man! Gotta love em both.

Cause Ford dealership want about 300$ to just diagnose!
@@gaelewis6623 , I'm not surprised. I try steering clear of all Ford dealership service centers unless I needed warranty or recall work done.
@@jacobsupgrades I had my car hauler fixed so I no brakes working on it and I have another 16' trailer and truck not sending signal to it either
Thank you

Also, you don’t have to take everything apart that you took apart. It’s a lot easier than that.
It seemed like there may be a better way. Did you go under the steering wheel and get behind it? I couldn't get my large hand behind there.
