Part 1 A few points, First, thank you for taking the time to share your issues with the Eltang Basic. Great service from Eltang, and a nice touch to receive a personal note from Tome, It’s another example of what this community is made of - Great People who share their experiences.
This happens to me too. First quarter is fine but after that it gets worst. I have 7 basic so I ain't blasting me horns for no reason lol. Well, I watched your video last night and this morning I removed all but 1 carbon coated chamber of my basic. What gave me confidence is also my new Eltang cutty which is uncoated. I smoked it last night and it was amazing. G.L. Pease did a review on his cutty too and he removed the carbon coat. I am pretty sure it's the carbon coat and not the stain.
Very interesting, thanks for sharing. What a mystery! I have one that I have not smoked yet. Funny enough, I too had an issue with the first one I got. The airway entered the bow above the bottom of the bowl, which was surprising to me. I asked the seller what to think of it and they replied by immediately sending me a new one. I sent the first one back since it was unsmoked. I have not noticed a strange smell, will be interesting to smoke it! I do have an Eltang mini poker that a friend gave me. It has smoked amazingly from the first bowl. I somehow thought the thin walls would make the pipe challenging to break in. Good that you can now enjoy your Eltang Basic. What a great customer service by Tom! They are beautiful and cool pipes for sure, I like that you easily can change the bit. Best wishes. Emil

Thanks Peter, I am a pretty stubborn guy but Eltang is such a big brand that I cannot believe he would make a bad pipe so I wanted to understand:)

Thank you Ed, glad to know I am not the only one, I really prefer uncoated bowls!

Hey Peter!
For some unknown reason, You tube deleted my comment, so I am breaking the content into several parts, let's see if that works numbered 1-4
Thanks Peter for taking the time to re-post!
