I disagree with a whole lot of what you are saying here. 1. High moisture does not cause wood to split, it is the drying. 2. High humidity contributes to splitting?? 3. gnarly grain is less susceptible to splitting, straight grain is more susceptible. 4. higher density wood splits MUCH more easily than low density. Like oak vs pine trim. 5. what happened to discussing food safe finishes?
