Through the ensuing years following his untimely death in 1968 I feel Katchen has been somewhat overlooked. He was of course one of the most distinguished pianists of his day who thankfully left a substantial recorded legacy. This included his much respected Brahms cycle not to mention some fine chamber music collaborations with Joseph Suk.
Couldn't agree any more! Julius Katchen was a truly great pianist and musician. He'd certainly deserve much better than being half forgotten!!
