🚨 Flashlight Challenge! Do You Brag About Your SMP or Do You Hide From the Spotlight?

  • This is such a commonly spoken about subject! There are many different versions of “SMP” out there, it’s hard to differentiate.
    One way to distinguish is to see up close under the spotlight and see for yourself. We always mention that most artists only show immediate results on the internet, but the HEALED result is what the client needs to see, and up close!
    Subtle Pigmentation can also be described as the highest standards in Scalp Micropigmentation industry.
    We believe in consideration of getting Subtle P, one should feel confident and boastful about it! That’s why we call it wearable art. One should want to show if off, while also having the option to not share or discuss showing it off because of the high standards achieved (can look exactly like real hair stubble).
    We get phone calls everyday from guys that say they conceal their smp, or never let anyone see up close. It doesn’t have to be that way!

    I got an smp about a month ago. I wish that I would have seen this video. I switched from hair fibers to save time and I absolutely hate it. Smp looks so good in lighting that is not above my head. The problem is in the work environment , all of the lights are over my head. I am getting my second treatment next week. I really hope that I like it after the 2nd one. I went to a well respected company. This is great info.

      Yes sir. In our opinions, if anyone in public or gym or office can immediately tell something is off or unnatural, it’s actually just as bad or worse than being bald.
      So, it’s 100% undetectable or bust!
      Hoping things are working out for you now. 🙏

    Just about every photo I’ve seen with guys that have done this have facial hair. I am clean-shaven and I want to stay that way. Thoughts about doing this while remaining clean shaven?

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Haha. I hear that a lot, you’re not wrong.
      My thoughts are that only guys clean shaven or can’t grow a beard notice that many guys who chose SMP also chose to grow a beard of some sort.
      It’s just like hairline preference or even exercise routine preference, it will vary from person to person based on many factors…different strokes for different folks :)

    • @aaronosheroff2980
      @aaronosheroff2980 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@scalp_logic I agree whatever anyone wants to do. My point was that every single photo that I’ve seen of men who have had this procedure done have either a beard or stubble on their face. I guess my question is - does this look good on a guy who chooses to shave his face daily. I understand that looking good is in the eye of the beholder. But I am guessing and I could be wrong that all of the guys who do this either have a beard or facial hair to draw attention to the beard rather than the head. Which does make sense. Thanks for taking the time to reply.

      @@aaronosheroff2980 I agree with you that guys opt for some facial hair to take away from the bald head. That goes for SMP guys and also anyone experiencing hair loss in general.
      The moves an average guy makes when losing hair: exercise for better body, some tan, grow facial hair, get a unique pair of glasses ✔️
      To answer your question, of course Subtle P will enhance ANY appearance in comparison to being bald. The frame a hairline puts on someone’s face is severely overlooked. This applies no matter if a gent has facial hair or not :)

    I hide from mine. When you get older it's no longer a good idea, in my opinion. Doesn't look right for an older man to have this and I even have the receded hairline look. I wish I could find a laser technician that could remove some of the SMP around my temples and make the crown thin looking to look more natural for my age.

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Where did you get it done?
      Thank you very much for sharing, I believe there are thousands of guys in your position both young and older.
      I believe this is more of a testimony of the skill and understanding of a given artist. It also falls on the client to direct or demand their treatment to be “natural”.
      Also, many guys opt to get a higher or more receded hairline, but without the right flow or contour to fit a given face, too often they are left with a high and stamped on looking effect (which hurts my heart while I’m typing here).

      New York. Scalp Micro USA. To me they did a good job however, I think a lot of this issue is me. I still wear a hat out in public and can't get past the idea of someone noticing. So on that note I saw your video of you removing yours with the laser. How did that work out for you in the end? I want to do the same thing and just be done with it already or like I said earlier remove some of it to make it less perfect so to speak. It's funny how life comes full circle with some things.

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@ddvutg I hear what you’re saying. It could just be in the head of a man with smp, or it could be that the treatment doesn’t look as real as real hair. Of course the issue may be a little bit of both.
      In terms of removing only a portion, I have never seen someone remove just a portion and be happy as it doesn’t look good or natural. If removal of some is the desire, I always recommend removing the entirety. From there either just being naturally bald again, or opt for a more subtle treatment.

    Light quality makes a difference in tone and shine and ultimate naturalness. Add in five more variables, a) scalp surface oil, b) oil or product in your hair (if you have any of either), c) sunburn/suntan on skin, d) degree of scarring on the scalp...i.e. an SMP's strip scar can look darker than the surrounding skin on one angle, yet just twist your neck and bamn! - now it looks lighter, (partly due to shine off the scar tissue) e) length of hair and density. f) how old is the SMP? It will fade with a personality of its own. Some skin will appear natural and completely faded..other bits will have blotches. The blotches can still help if you have hair, surprisingly well. Picture the camouflage pattern on Marines combat fatigues. Overall though, the biggest issue will be the hairline and especially the approaches to the temples and the lack of graduation or uniformness of colour.
    There are products to take the shine down. Oh....never look at photos unless you are ready to shoot yourself. And yes, that means your SMP will be on Facebook of your friends.

    Exactly, I got my SMP done, and the artist took pics right afterward. He didn't fill things in enough, and things were too light. I sent him pictures with just my bathroom light, and he told me that I shouldn't care about what some random light shows. I went in for a fifth session and he literally didn't do much more ink, and now I am having to go in a sixth time. The only photos that matter, are those taken after it's healed.

      @johnthree1611 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@familyfirst7027 , Yea, it already looked like a bowling ball, he missed at least ten areas, you could easily see the areas were way lighter than others. He just never filled things in uniformly. My wife took a picture of my head, and when zoomed in, you could see where the light spots where they didn't have nearly as many ink dots as the fuller areas. That's why I had to go in soo many times, and he would book me, but literally not listen to me, and the fifth time, he literally did not fill in the areas, and was being lazy, so a sixth time, with my wife there finally got him to do the job right. He didn't just ink every part of my head, each time that I went in. My head definitely is not even close to dark enough to look like a bowling ball, that's another issue, he either used too light of ink, or didn't go deep enough for the ink to hold, and a lot would lighten a ton after it healed. His trainer has a youtube account, and I asked him why I would have light spots all over the place, he said because of the artist. He was definitely a newer artist, he told me he's been doing it for two years, yet on his website he says more than five years. He offered me a full refund and laser removal if I chose, but I asked him to just fill in the spots that were too light to make things uniform. A natural haired person doesn't have what looks like balding spots all around their head, that's kinda what it looked like, and I didn't pay $3,200 to look like I have bald spots all around my head. Shoot the rear of my head was so light and not filled in, that it looked like I had a large bald spot on the back of my head. Terrible experience with him, I had to give him a 1 star google review before he returned my texts about fixing the issue. When my wife went with me the sixth time, she pointed to all the light spots, and he said yea, I see them. It's like he could magically see them, when he couldn't deny it in front of my wife, because she can actually point to the spots.

    The thing is, most of the time the part that are filled with ink (top of head) versus the sides that have natural hair always seem to be of different shade. Top of head tends to look more purply (im not saying its plain purple, and no im not talking of the cases that haven't healed yet) versus sides look more greenish. What do you think? Do you agree? Should the artists use a slightly more greenish ink?

    • @scalp_logic
      @scalp_logic  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That is a great question. A lot to unpack in understanding it all.
      Firstly, many guys (def not all) have the greenish/blueish tint genetically, completely aside from any treatments.
      Perhaps one of the most difficult maneuvers in creating Subtle P that looks as real as real is the blending!!! It takes hours to do correctly, and that is aside from working the top of the head.
      Just as a black and grey artist shades, the same maneuver needs to be completed on the sides of a guys head through stippling (one dot at a time).
      This is so hard to complete “properly” so very few artist in the world are willing to do it.
      This is a topic we are trying to scream from the top of our lungs, to create SMP realism that is comparable to real hair stubble, it takes many many hours to complete.
      I have over 12 years experience, I’m grandfathered in the craft. I beat myself up all the time wanting to be better at blending.
      Making the ink on top seamlessly blend into the remaining native hair should be a major consideration when a gentleman is looking to get SMP done.
      No colors ever for me. If any colors are used, that only guarantees that color ink will alter in appearance one day. Compared that to a pure black/grey applied at a superficial level, no color change of appearance.

      But the place where no hair is present it has mostly the regular skin color of a person i.e. the same color as the forehead skin.
      Now the big question is, if SMP is done and tiny dots are placed; will that regular skin color change to that greenish/blue shade and blend with the "real area?
      Notice that the blending here is not about the stubbles getting blended, but about the canvas color getting blended.

      @@oeshkoer Understood.
      Making the ink impressions match the remaining hair by blending properly is also implying the scalp tone/scalp color will have to match on top as it does on the sides. In other words, to blend as an smp artist should is to ensure the clients tones (if any) are even throughout.

      @@scalp_logic It's looks great but the thing i still don't like is that under harsh light...It still looks like the person is completely bald..Would be nice to still have that shaved look even under harsh lighting...rather than full bald under lighting.

    Quick Question, Do you guys do touch ups? even if the work wasn't done at your place?
    I only ask because their will be or have been some real scenarios where someone that does SMP can get into an accident and not be able to work anymore, or the person that did your SMP moved away or even passed away as well, So now you can't go back to him for a touchup and you have to go elsewhere.

      That’s a common hesitancy for some gentleman. Of course we can accommodate such a case.

    Isn’t there a difference of some lighter ones like yours are done for ppl who bic their head. And I’ve seen places do sorta larger impressions and it seems they use andis clipper? Maybe the larger impression ones it’s assumed u leave hair lil longer? Idk. Jus my take as an observer outside industry. Interested in your perspective

      I love the comment and perspective. Certainly some truth to that.
      Most every other company/artist create larger impressions. And many consumers prefer the bolder look.
      We want people to understand those larger impressions look “inky” (or just a solid fill after a few weeks or months) under the spotlight challenge or any good lighting, like outside. As long as consumers know what they’re getting, we’re happy 😃

      SMP too light vs. Inky head
      I know my choice. The difference is a fine line of accepting still bald, or knowing someone is staring at your off look.
