I mean it doesn't really take more than 1 hour to build a computer if you have everything you need. so it doesn't make sense
This is the problem with so many things, not just PCs. False market values. They see people saying shit like "ultra rare" and other superlatives, with stupidly high mark ups, and think they can do the same. As an example, about a year ago I was looking to buy a CD by a band I like, when I looked at the usual marketplaces like eBay and Discogs and I was getting the old "ultra rare" bs, with prices around $100. I went to the bands website and the CD was back in stock for $15. Sadly there are people who fall for this stuff. Thankfully with PCs, people who know about PCs are not going to buy at these prices, and those that don't know probably do not want to be paying several thousand dollars for a rig. That's why one of those listings has been live for 25 weeks.
That last listing would only make sense if those 3 monitors were either 4k/OLED panels as those are still pretty expensive. If they are just 1080p/1440 then he is way off on price.
I built my rig for less than $800 by buying 2nd hand and repairing broken parts. Origin Genisis PC case with 5 bay SAS. Gigabyte X370 pro carbon mobo. AMD 5700X3D Gigabyte eagle 4070ti T force 32gb ddr4 4000 256gb nvme 6tb Hdd Its a mix of old and new but oh baby can it get the job done. Im happy enough with it.
I sell all of my PCs as PC ONLY, because once you add a monitor and other peripherals then its for 1, gonna raise the price which lowers the amount of potential buyers, and for 2, ppl have their own tastes/wants/expectations for their peripherals and you might be raising the price for parts they have no interest in
Upgraded my PC, sold the old PC. Asked for fair market value of all parts in used condition. Loaded marketplace listing with full details on every part and tons of photos including all original packaging for clear details as to what the buyer would receive. I got decent value for the older PC to put towards my upgrade, not more than what I paid for everything brand new. See? It's not that hard.
@@KimBoKastekniv47 That seemed to be the case when I researched it, as the only thing I found was that B Series Mobo's can have lower rated chipsets and not handle high powered CPU's as well. But the 7800X3D isn't power hungry. Thanks for replying. 👍
I see this all the time on Facebook Marketplace. If a seller can't be bothered to accurately list the specs or spellcheck their ad, then I give it a hard pass.

To be fair so long as that video card is in a x16 slot there is no way he's going to lose any performance with a 1070. I've run my 3080 and now 4080 super in the bottom slot due to the fact that the top slot is the only one that supports bifurcation and I need to use that bifurcation to load it up with four NVMe SSDs. I did a before and after benchmark on four games and didn't see any difference. It's a lot nicer to use the top slot because it's usually reinforced but it's not necessary in most instances.
I just threw my fist jawa ad up and I butchered myself, LOL I build a pc every month as a hobby and then resell so I don't have a pile of parts laying around. Common sense dictates that if I spend $1400 on part and use it for a month it's not worth new price, to get $900 or close to it, is fare to me and the person buying it gets a sweet pc they can enjoy and know its been very lightly used. These prices are nonsense, but I get amusement from them. Thanks for the video Greg!

Sadest thing of all? There are people how know nothing about this and actually think it is an ok price and buy it. These sellers know this. There is always someone who will buy it. It is fraudulent in my eyes.
Nah, these types of listings sit for months where I am. The listings Greg shows, two have been sitting for 5 weeks and one has been sitting for 25 weeks. I flip gaming PCs at a reasonable price and usually have them sold within a week.
We gotta remember, the comparable "new" list isn't supposed to have the exact same parts. It should have the modern equivalent. The pcp list for second build has a $500 3070ti in it and a $900 3080ti in it. That makes no sense and makes the price so much worse
Yeah, it goes both ways. If I chose modern equivalents (i.e., a 4070 Ti instead of a 3070 Ti), it makes the used build look even worse in this context. I often choose exact matches because it gives us a snapshot in time of what _they_ may have paid for their rigs brand-new. Not always 1-to-1, but with gaps in time and price fluctuations it's sorta impossible to be perfectly accurate all the time :-)
Even with current models/products, the used market is difficult to gauge. For example, the 7800X3D's still large demand has pushed its market value above MSRP. In fact, as you can see in Greg's screenshots, at some point, 'businesses' (i.e., do we refer to scalpers or scalper-like as a business?) have priced the 7800X3D near $600 (MSRP is/was $449). "[...] it gives us a snapshot in time of what they may have paid for their rigs brand-new. Not always 1-to-1, but with gaps in time and price fluctuations it's sorta impossible [...]" In other words, even though the 7800X3D is still the current (i.e., 1:1 comparison) product at this time, buyers wouldn't be paying the "new" price, though not the in the positive way you'd expect with a used (item) purchase.
The last build has a very nice fan config. 6 NZXT fans as intake one exhaust and 3 more Lian li reverse blade fans as intake. Not to mention that cable jungle under the tiny GPU. 🤣🤣
How many of these PCs are one of two things. A) Wife says I need to sell it but I don't want to, so I'll put a ridiculous price on it and say no one's buying. or B) I don't really wanna sell it but if someone wants to give me $3000 for it, they can have it.
Greedy PC Guy: Gaming PC - Only One Million Dollars! Customer: A million dollars? You're not going to sell many at that price. Greedy PC Guy: I only need to sell one. 🤣

Sorry but what's wrong with a b series motherboard for a 7800x3d? I caught that and now I'm confused. B series is probably the most recommended. I personally run an MSI pro b650p wifi and it does everything it needs to do. Has all the needed options for a 7800x3d. Very nice MB TBH.
there was a listing up near me recently for $900 and it was 6th gen i5 with no gpu at all haha, was taken down and relisted for $100 after about a month
Greg, I like this edition of your content but I wish you would go into more detail about WHY some of those components are badly matched. Beyond the cost of new versus old or X vs y components. Such as, an i7 core with a 1070(which is what my Alienware Laptop from 2018 has) the GPU is under matched and the i7 will create a gaming bottle neck reducing the value of such a build.
I tried out the X3D Turbo mode it's a bit of a hassle turning it on and off in the BIOS I don't really need it I just use the optimizer service driver and the BIOS option though I think it's a decent option for 16 core X3D gamers to turn it into like a 7800X3D for some gaming

That 2nd one with the 3080 ti ( ad said 3070 ti ) looked to me to be a trap set to make seller look stupid and the buyer would feel clever seeing the 3080 ti and thinking he might have spotted a good deal because seller is stupid.
even if that $4500 had a 4090 inside the pc, that price is still too much considering a 4090 build like that is worth $3000 and than 500 for the rest, so 3500 which is still 1000 off the original asking price lol

Even crazier is that few people around Vernon, NY can afford a $4500 setup. I don't live far from there and I can't get people to buy $400-$750 builds lol
That first PC was priced fairly for the 2-3 weeks when the 7800x3d $700-$900 out of nowhere last month lol
These are always entertaining
"Avoid drugs or alcohol when formulating the asking price" Greg coming out of the gates hot tonight!!
I hadn't seen your videos in a while and today for some reason i was reminded of your channel so i searched you up and saw that i was still subscribed and decided to see this latest video. I built my own computer and i do not understand why some folks would ask for so much money when the parts they are selling, sell for much cheaper? are they trying to compensate for their labor?
Origin Genisis PC case
with 5 bay SAS.
Gigabyte X370 pro carbon mobo.
AMD 5700X3D
Gigabyte eagle 4070ti
T force 32gb ddr4 4000
256gb nvme
6tb Hdd
Its a mix of old and new but oh baby can it get the job done.
At 9:06, Greg expresses his dislike for pairing a B series chipset with a 7800X3D. Can anyone clarify why this is an issue?
It isn't an issue, B650 is what 99% of people should pair a 7800X3D with. Greg is uniformed here.
There are some great deals on there though. I got an insane gaming PC for $1k. It should have been more, but I wasn't going to argue with the guy. But I can totally relate to this, hell I'm car shopping now and prices are outrageous. Well above their KBB values.
What are the specs?
I see Facebook ads like this and I get so disheartened by people's percirved value of their system and blatant greed.
The 1070TI part killed me!!! 🤣🤣🤣
I'm always on drugs and alcohol when I post on ebay! 😂
Lot of people have the pandemic pricing still stuck in their heads where they think they can get the same amount or even more than they paid originally
When I come across ads like this, I keep it moving.
I LOVE these episodes Gregg, it shows that peeps in the States are just as Dillusional over there as they are here in the UK
Missed these types of videos
Ohh I saw a post on market place today. Dude was selling a full system with a amd motherboard and intel cpu and calling it a brand new pc with a 1650 lol
So the usual, I see 💀
@@GregSalazar yup and another trend i've noticed. People Strip the board for pictures? the remove all the mosfit, pch heat sinks and the Expose the socket. Its strange. I'd rather avoid market place.
just sold a 4 year old 3070 rig in near perfect condition for $1000. asus motherboard, 10900k cpu, corsair psu, the works. It sold in 3 hours. People really have no clue what their old crap is worth.
Are you saying you charged more than you should have?
Sometimes I think of selling my rig, it has an i7 10700 and an evga xc gaming 3060ti gpu. 16gb of 3200mhz cl-16 ram (2x8gb sticks), 2tb of space (1tb 2.5" sata ssd and 1tb m.2 gen 3 ssd), z490 mobo, 850w 80+gold evga supernova gt psu (fully modular), corsair 4000d airflow for $900 (I look at ebay used prices). It's about a 3yr old rig
I sell brand new builds with better processors and 3070s for around 900-1000. Your buyer was clearly clueless.
@@connor040606 most are, without going into details, built a 7700x with an open box Asrock RX 7900 XTX Taichi OC for just south of 2100 could probably flip it for a $500+ profit if the person doesnt do any sort of research
These may be somewhat extreme examples, but what pisses me off is THE VAST MAJORITY of used PCs and PC parts is WAY OVER PRICED.
what's sad to me is its the people like this who have no idea what they're building, that are making the x3d chips go out of stock. leave them for the rest of us who know what we're doing please.
but just buy a ryzen 5 or 7 non x3d. Unless you need to run a 480hz monitor or something, you dont need the best CPU, just invest more in GPU. I ran 5600x with a 3090 for a whille and it was great at 4k or 1440, just dont try 1080p low
Only three? Your blood pressure couldn't handle any more?😂
These made me laugh so hard omg! 🤣🤣🤣
You sound MUCH more reasonable than these folks hahah. Thanks for watching!
Make up in volume?
@@GregSalazar Every time a new video goes up I'm here. LOL
@@floydlooney6837 This is not a cost effective hobby, LOL But I have fun and people get to enjoy my creations when I'm done with them. So I don't look at it as a loss.
Lain Li and corse air 😂 nice one 👍🏾
@Greg Salazar, im curious, I'm wanting to upgrade my cpu to the x3d. Would you not use a b650 chipset for a x3d cpu? I was planning on that. Is it not a good idea?

#3 buy me a motorcycle, here is a broken gaming pc .. the leds glow
That Ikea desk - the Lagkapten - is $220 retail brand new. A used desk online (in way better shape than this one) maybe $75-100 ??
This is what pricing for both PCs and components looks like where I’m at 😅
4:34 bro built their keyboard parts from the best buy display keyboards. call that a steal series
I missed those series. I see such ads everyday looking for parts and its just funny how delusional some people are :)
The second one is from my city, OH NOOOO 😂😂😂😭😭😭(it’s not my ad listing tho, just surprised to see my city in your video lol)
it could be just me but i could never buy a used pc. would have no idea what its been used for . also i find it relaxing building a rig from scratch
It's definitely a touchy subject. Only for those willing to risk it a bit for the biscuit. There are great deals to be had... they just aren't all "genuine."
I bought a used PC in 2022 for $300 that came with an MSI Z370-A PRO Motherboard, i7 8700k, 16GB of DDR4 RAM, GTX 1060 6GB, a 240mm AIO cooler, and an open air case with 7 RGB fans. I haven't had any problems with the PC.

Woof a 4060 even in a $2000 pc is making my head spin.
Did a 4090, 7600x build for a friend a year ago and ended up at $2200 after tax.
People are so on drugs with prices. I would let even list my custom looped pc over $1000. I wish I find sales like these because I would’ve trolled them
Sorry but what's wrong with a b series motherboard for a 7800x3d? I caught that and now I'm confused. B series is probably the most recommended. I personally run an MSI pro b650p wifi and it does everything it needs to do. Has all the needed options for a 7800x3d. Very nice MB TBH.
Don't know if you noticed, the Asus monitor in the second listing is upside down. 7:12
there was a listing up near me recently for $900 and it was 6th gen i5 with no gpu at all haha, was taken down and relisted for $100 after about a month
Sometimes is fun just going through the ads to have fun and laugh 🤣😂
My gut is saying purple PC is stolen or a straight up scam. That GPU discrepancy is a huge red flag.
Trying to buy used PC or parts is a nightmare.
The most likely scenario for those listings are that it's the wife, not the owner, who want to sell..
What's wrong with a B650 board for a Ryzen 7 7800X3D? :/
I miss these videos. Gainesville Facebook marketplace is delusional

All new unused built stressed then put back in case box put up for sale.
Assuming that English is their first language is bold. Thank you for that.
Why in the world would he buy an 011 dynamic XL and then only partially fill it up lol. I mean it doesn't look like he has plans to fill it later as he's selling it right?
I have one of those but the space is used. 10 fans including the AIO, hard drive bay filled, PCIE slots in USE etc.
I just love your fix or flop series u r my mentor as I am from a small city in India and finding a technical support near by is a tough one I am learning alot from ur videos. I wanted to ask if Asus tuf x670e plus wifi mobo can support 4 sticks of rams 6000mhz or not or will be set down the mhz of the ram ?
I’d trade that guy a 2 year subscription to Hooked on Phonics
That second ad is a marketplace scam
Funny thing is that these people still think that these parts are still worth it in 2024. Value will going to start dropping over the years. Also.. is it just me or did that white gaming setup listing have top fans setup for pulling air and bottom for.. exhaust? Oh gawd.. why?!
Bro that first listing wouldn't be worth it even if that was a 4070 Ti
