Finally a review by someone who knows this Bible. I have seen reviews by others who seemed like they had just opened this Bible to do their review 🙄
    Thank you.
I had Quest Study Bible but after glancing thru pages decided it was not worth keeping.

Great and honest review. I was thinking of purchasing to help others new to the faith but before this review I contemplated the fact that I should use depth and then make it understandable without loosing any integrity in over simplicity. Thank you

I was introduced to the Quest Study Bible in the early 80s. Even as a lifelong Christian, I found it inspirational. I still do. It is my Bible of last resort when searching for answers.

I completely agree, I found the questions to be quite elementary. I’ll be returning it tomorrow.

While this is indeed a fairly basic “study” Bible I do have one and liked its uniqueness. After going through it I think it has value to first time Bible readers or younger people. It gives them just enough to draw their interest into further study without bogging them down too much. You seem to always be more interested in variant readings over the traditional ones from what I’ve seen but for new Christians or young people those are probably issues they should look into after they have graduated from a Bible like this.

The NIV Cultural Backgrounds Study Bible does mention the other manuscript data concerning Goliath's size.

Yes, that was good to see. I can't believe the NIV2011 didn't include a footnote on it, though. As for the Cultural Backgrounds Bible, I'm glad they mention it at least, though I think they're a bit too hasty in labelling Og as a giant when the text only says his sedan/bed was really big. That's a bit of a stretch (pun intended!), IMO.
But see the Superhero Seminary video by Ant-Man for why I say that! 😁

I wonder if the newer edition has decent updates or mostly appearance update? Having watched your video, I may take a look at some of the areas you mention at one in the store. I'm looking for something for an early teen that's not cheesy - basic.

I would recommend Life Application over Quest, honestly.

@@DiscipleDojo I was thinking / wondering about that Bible as I was in the middle of watching your video, given the shortcomings. I was given an older version of the Life App as a teenager and it can hang around longer than a 'teen Bible.' Thanks! - Dan

I got mine in 9th grade (1st edition in the NRSV) and it lasted me all the way through seminary. I give my nephews and niece one whenever they turn 13 (in either HCSB, NIV, or NLT).
