hey ed, like the crayfish. i've been breeding these guys for 12 years, and based on don's bottom view at 4:47... don is really donna :) the lack of the red wedge on the claws was the first clue. also the tail and body are almost equal in girth; this is a typical female trait. also feed more protein such as freshly killed feeder fish and offer more variety of green veggies.
Hi Michael, thanks a lot for your comment. I too realised my mistake :D The total lack of red mark on the claw should have been a huge give away, duh!!
Ryan Kay they will eat live food, oh, and if you keep them with other fish and one dies, they’ll eat that dead fish. For example, a dead neon. You can keep them with live neons because they’re too fast to be caught.
Hi im new to crayfish aswell i jst bought recently a pair crayfish..The specialist say its a gen 3 so its safe.. i wud like to know ur peas.. wud u say keeping da peas cold or jst normal temp is fine too?
I ejoyed the video. I moved to Louisiana few years ago. Just now thinking of making a tank. Got some Pacific red and black from grocery store. I read on line once they are out of water they can drown. So cant tank the ones shipped/ meant for consumption. I will have to get live fresh ones scooped right out of a crawfish farm in Eunice, LA. Very interesting creatures. I dont eat them at all. Very imformative video.
Excuse me. Would a tank of this dimensions work for some of the smaller crayfish? 53cm length, 39cm width and 15 cm height? If so, which ones? I know the height is as not of a big factor but I have tried asking and I have found nothing.
Mikeythegamemaniac Hello, thanks for your comment. that tank size sounds great for crayfish. Redclaw's are on the larger end of crayfish so any small crayfish should work out great. For stocking it will really come down to luck, depending on how well your crayfish decided to get on together. If they end up fighting over hides or food you may have to separate. I would say if you put a lot of hides and go for a smaller species of crayfish that tank will be perfect!!
Hi Maze Love, I am Greg, I make the Bubble Cloud app. You have left a 2 star rating for my app today. My app is getting many bad ratings in the last few weeks, but nobody tells me what the problem is. I work on this app constantly, and users used to like it, but suddenly a lot of bad rating is coming in. I would like to fix any problems, but without feedback I don't know where to start. I am getting very desperate. Please respond here or email me at bcwhelp@gmail.com Thank you. I am sorry for disturbing.
Could be because there still junior and haven't fully developed yet..but the crayfish you label as the male could be a female? The males of this crayfish "Redclaw crayfish" have a distinctive red flesh alongside there outer claw hence the name "Redclaw crayfish" Cant see that on yours?
I noticed you dont have an air stone in the tank.. but some people swear by needing one, unless your water depth is very shallow.. did you find you need an airstone?
The only important factor is the floorspace! Redclaws need 30x30cm minimum floorspace. The volume of the tank is secondary as they don't swim that much
Help my daughter just brought home a crayfish...its sad right now I plan to make it better for him rocks sand hides....ugh help....water? Yours looks like.so much water I thought just 2-4 inches of water so they don't drown? Help please!
At four fifty seven is a female for sure. If you check under the tail males have two little spikes females like a round hole. Its pretty simple to tell.

we live and learn buddy :) best of luck with all of your projects :)
Seriously, drop a feeder fish in with them from your local pet store and watch how excited the get. So much fun to watch them hunt.
Charles Norris try night crawlers they go CRAZY over them
But do they need to eat live food? mine seem happy with veggies and pellets...

I have redclaw silver perch gold fish sucker fish snails all in a ibc aquarponics system they get along fine
I have 3 red ones 3 blue ones and gold fish too in my lil aquaponics system with a 60 gallon tank and lots of drift wood and rock.
As soon as Donald lifted himself up on the side of the glass I realized Donald was Ladonna. That's ok, beautiful.
how difficult to get a breeding pair of crayfish? and hows the crayfishes now in 2021?
They are so amazing to watch😍 my girl mayo just had babies galore!!!
Hi im new to crayfish aswell i jst bought recently a pair crayfish..The specialist say its a gen 3 so its safe.. i wud like to know ur peas.. wud u say keeping da peas cold or jst normal temp is fine too?
hey, do you need a bubbler for this kind of thing?
would 20' (50cm)x 11.25' (28cm) be enough floor space for a single crayfish?
What species are they? They look like my crayfish, light silver on top, white on bottom. Like the one at 0:36
Can I get 2 crayfish (white specter and electric blue) in a 20 gallon (24" long, 16" high and 12" wide) with a screen separating the two? Thanks
Hi, how do you manage their food if need to be out of town for 4-5 days? will the food last them that long?
they can go days with out food but pellets on timer could work. also live feeder fish if they are hungry they will hunt.
Is that frozen peas you give them.. after its thawed out.
How many peas per crawfish do you give a day?
Love the updates. Keep them coming please
How can you prevent then from escaping mine did escape and it died
What crayfish do you have

None of the 3 appear to have the Red stripe on the claw that indicates a male.

Okay. Thanks a lot bro. I just wanna give the crayfish a good home. Thanks a lot. :3
I love your video you should get some tetras and put them inside besides your tank is deep so there is a very low chance of death
I had thought of a community tank, maybe in the future
Peas have high protein, so no surprise they are doing well on a base diet of peas and other feed.
How often do you change the water of your tank?
Weekly, but I have a larger filter section
What tank size would be adequate for one crayfish in your opinion??
Depends on the species. I talk about tank size for large crayfish in my set up video
I have a question? Where did you get the green peas for them? Like what do you feed them?
You can just uses normal peas from the freezer section

Loving the content mate
these are cherax quadricarinatus?
how can i fed baby crayfish
Could be because there still junior and haven't fully developed yet..but the crayfish you label as the male could be a female?
The males of this crayfish "Redclaw crayfish" have a distinctive red flesh alongside there outer claw hence the name "Redclaw crayfish"
Cant see that on yours?
Don't you send oxygen supply into the water? I am not seeing any bubbles.
an aquarium pump will agitate the surface of the water, set up appropriately. this will dissolve oxygen in to the water
Exactly what I do. I have my pump shooting water across the top of the water which agitates it enough that I don't need an air pump
Just got one...posted a video of him on my channel.
I noticed you dont have an air stone in the tank.. but some people swear by needing one, unless your water depth is very shallow.. did you find you need an airstone?
i think i read somewhere that its okay if you have an air pump. idk tho becouse my tank its just shallow and they come out on there own
Is 10 gallons enough for 1 crayfish
The only important factor is the floorspace! Redclaws need 30x30cm minimum floorspace. The volume of the tank is secondary as they don't swim that much
Omg thank u so much I rlly appreciate it
You should do more videos
whats their lifespan?
Depends how well you look after them >_< but up to 4 to 5 years
