This is a masterful piece of composing an album, as well as stagecraft. When you start off a story, you have to grab the audience’s attention. It is highly effective to do so quietly, and softly. It makes you sit up, and lean forward into the music. These sisters are world class.
100% It brought back the memory, I said James in the video, but it was Sam Kelly's performance of "Make you feel my love". th-cam.com/video/PZkrU4KbPbY/w-d-xo.html . When I heard the studio version first of Crimson Queen, this is what I was picturing for a live performance and I wasn't let down at all. It is what I love about performances, holding the audience in the palm of your hand.
Dany's song! Dany was the primary writer of this song and she worked on it for some time. Her ability to deliver the emotion of a song is impressive. One of the things that amazes me about this song and a few others is their command of English. She uses words that are not commonly used (or understood) such as conundrum and bemuse. In one of their newer songs, they use the word rapacity. They often write more as if a song was prose, without a specific rhyming scheme, or cramming more syllables into a measure than there are beats or extending words into the next measure. Funny, they say they have a much tougher time writing in their native Spanish.
You make a great point because like many of the bands I have covered, they are not native English speakers yet speak and sing it better than most Americans these days lol. Yes, this song they did a lot of the extending into the next measure which I haven't seen a ton in the reviews I have done for this genre. They are far ahead of their ages! I am loving the journey so far and can only imagine how much better it gets.
Being a Floyd fan from way back, I’m a sucker for a great concept album. First time I listened to this album I immediately went online and ordered it on vinyl. Which for me, is highest compliment I can pay an artist…If it makes the cut to add to the collection. Lol. Have a great day!
@@Amaranthine1000 I had ordered mine just as COVID hit then it sat in customs for months before getting it. Thankfully did finally get it though. I see they reopened their store but not much there yet. Sure they’ll eventually get more as they expand inventory. Hopefully by then, they’ll be able to get shipping figured out for you. 🤞🏼 Has great artwork inside.
This song is sort of rare in that Dany wrote both the music and lyrics all by herself. Usually Pau starts the writing process composing some of the chord progressions, tempo, etc. And she might have some of the lyrics written. Then she presents what she has to Dany and Ale. The three of them work on the song, adding their parts, maybe even changing the entire thing, but when they are finished they perform a demo, which may also be modified before or during the recording process. The process of composing the entire Queen of the Murder Scene was a little different. Pau had some of the song lyrics which were basically about murder. While the three of them were working on the songs and considering creating an album their father suggested presenting the overall story as a sort of novel. And so, they added other songs that connected everything together.
This is one of Dany's babies. Dany said it took a long time to write as she was experimenting with lots of many different techniques. A goosebumps song from start to finish with Dany's powerful vocals. Great harmonies from Pau. Great reaction JTMM. Appreciate your energy and time. Already subbed. 🤟
“Holy crap.” Words often spoken in reactions. I’m pretty sure I said them myself when I first heard the songs on QOTMS. Amazing reaction and commentary. Looking forward to seeing you do the live version.
A little case of unrequited love, obviously. The Queen is in love with someone who doesn't even know she exists. Her feelings are overwhelming her, and she would do anything for him to love her.
crimson queen : A deep and melancholic theme, very beautifully interpreted by Dany in acoustic and one of the most beautiful themes of the QOTMS Album, currently Dany is among the best Rock singers
I'm sure you are already aware of this but remember this is a concept album. The next song will build off this one lyrically. All the songs stand on their own but the full story is dark and intense.
Tommy Rocks and there is a video of Floor actually singing a page from the phone book I'm subbed to Floor and Tommy. Love listening to Dany singing this song. There's a video of Crimson Queen Unplugged because Dany's guitar didn't work.
She sings this at Fio Doro.. The sound system on her acoustic failed. So she just sang it raw. It was maybe her best version of this song. in my opinion.
If you like this emotinally heavy and slower songs I really like to suggest Black Holes from their 1st album. Pau gets my eyes wet everytime I listen to it.
You should really watch their Vlog #23, 25, & 26 are all about TQOTMC album. #23 chapters 1&2, #25 chapter 3, #26 chapter 4. It's just a must see! They don't play any music so it would be safe to watch.
Yeah I want to find time to watch those, they truly have my attention and after nearly 400 videos created, maybe 5-6 have kept my attention. They are on that list

I want the vinyl but it is not available anymore and nor do they ship to the bottom of the planet yet

Beautiful idea for the novel concept! I've said it 100 times but I truly mean it, I am loving this journey.

Such a beautiful song, that's the one I asked Dany to send me handwritten as a Patreon reward, love it 😍
Its just an amazing song!
This concept album is an unbelievable achievement considering that the girls were all teenagers at the time .
This song in live sounds same or better!!! I love this song! I hope in the future, they ll play again this full album!

I appreciate the unique approach. 🤟🏻
Thank you I appreciate it greatly!

I really hope you can react to their new album "Error" in order🤟
Definitely. I will take a look at my requests once I finish QOTM and will cover it. It is definitely on my radar.

This could be a Celtic song and would do well.
