    The booing is not a recent thing at all. I remember as far back as 10+ years ago the crowd booing kickers. I think people just werent so focussed on it at the time.

      Yep, just rewatched the 2011 RWC final to confirm this, and NZ supporters were indeed booing. We have always done this I'd imagine.

      Carlos Spencer gave the Crusader crowd the finger because he got so much booing.

      Booing has been around since 90s when I was playing club rugby and I remember test matches at Athletic park…this kiwi guy doesn’t know his rugby history

    I hated the collars in the publicity photos, but during the game they didn't bother me at all. Regarding booing, I feel like the kickers won't even notice (DMac didn't even know what the ref was saying before he timed out on his kick attempt). The fans probably like it because it makes them feel like they're part of the action.

      I think the fans have taken inspiration from watching a lot of American sports. Similar to basketball where the home crowd makes a lot of noise for opposition free throws

    slight disingenous about the NH not booing when Ireland fans booed abs constantly especially at kicking time when they played in Ireland last time

    Great show Rich. Your guest was brilliant. Regards the booing , England get it all the time in Scotland wales and certainly France , I didn’t really notice it last week till others mentioned it . 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🇳🇿.

      DMac also got booing from the English crowd. For NZ I think it's something we've pulled inspiration from watching all the American sports and seeing home crowds make a heap of noise at say basketball free throws for the opposition teams

    Thanks for this video guys
    Itoje was the player of the match last week. Absolute beast. Timing was exceptional.
    I picked England to win the first one and the All Blacks to come back strong in the second match.
    All blacks are going to run England off the park this week.
    AB’s 38 England 17

    Razor and co had an entire super rugby season to figure out the solution to line speed and rush defence. They knew it was coming. The lack of answers to the that against England was not only worrying, it was actually astonishing

    Richie Mounga and Shannon Friszel returning early from Japan. Roigard and Jordan back from injury. Leister also coming from France early…
    ABs definitely the team to watch over the next 12 months

    It will be interesting to see how Razor can be just himself as I have notice he has become more stressed as he was with the Crusaders. So like for him just to relax and be a coach.

    I think the All Blacks will build squad depth in the medium/long term as the 2027 World Cup approaches. Before the end of this year some injured players (Will Jordan, Cam Roigard, Samisoni Taukei’aho, Josh Lord) may return.
    We will also see the ongoing development, I think, of players like Peter Lakai, Wallace Sititi and maybe some other young players emerging, like Fabien Holland or some of the players emerging players from U20 level.
    Big call I will make now is that I can see the long term Fly Half being Stephen Perofeta...

    • @subhuman119
      @subhuman119 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Oooh, that is a big call on Perofeta. He's def going to be in the squad long term, but with the prospect of Mo'unga coming back, I may be behind him.
      But def agree with you on the other calls. Lakai, Sititi, I'd also throw Sam Darry and Reuben Love in there.

      Add the change up with centre. We have ALB to start. Billy proctor. Even levi aumua possibly, just because otherwise he will be picked for Samoa or fiji.
      Reiko is great on attack, he is not up to par on defense. He is always letting his opposite get past him on the outside and having to turn and chase.

    I grew up on the 'auckland grid' we were looking south, played with a few and they understand things others don't. and it's unspoken. Glad we have caught NZ now, whilst re building, it's possible.

    I think Christy's play was mostly around a tactical change however his strength is being NZs most combative nine either side of the ball with an accurate pass and an accurate kick.

  • @stephenbaxter5804
    @stephenbaxter5804 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    I would like to see some more strategic movement rather than just moving from one side of the field to the other, to combat that Rush defence we need to have some players cut back on the inside, or change direction to catch the players wrapping around from one side to the other. And more accurate contestable kicks.

  • @korocam9137
    @korocam9137 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

    Aaron Smith is known for his distribution not his “lateral movement”, Christie has been his under study for years but one of his strengths is his box kicks which pressure teams. Cortez Ratima’s last two seasons with the Chiefs have been stellar. Sam Darry and Josh Lord look to be the next best options at lock. Having a 120 plus veteran coming off the bench when things are tight.. which International test team wouldn’t want that?

  • @rabbitss11
    @rabbitss11 28 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    It would be good to see Fakatava at 9 even though he may be less reliable than Christie he can bring the X factor too

    I think this England team is on the up and up. The ABs really had to change their game up last week to stay in it. We won, but by no means is this coming week’s game a foregone conclusion. Whoever wins, it will be by less than 3 pts. May the best team win, and hopefully no cards and big clean hits like last week.

    What a load of crap. In NZ, we have always booed the kicker. The opposition is the enemy for 80mins, people pay good money to go to the game, they can cheer and boo to their hearts content

    On the booing.
    It is a relatively recent development and I put it down to a different kind of 'fan' attending big sporting events in NZ.
    With the introduction of 'entertainment' (read horrible and invasive music, flames and fireworks etc) a different demographic has been attracted to matches.
    The kind of people who spend as much time watching either their phones or the big screen hoping to spy a glimpse of themselves. (Presumably these people have short attention spans and don't own mirrors?).
    For them the game is more like a Punch n Judy show where audiences must boo the villains.
    Zac is far too polite to do it, so let me correct your pronunciation of the word 'haka'.
    Your accent lends a sharp nasal sound that renders the word to sound like 'hacker'.
    Instead, try for a long (European) 'A' sound (like in the word 'car', 'bar' or 'jar') and you will have it.
    Keep up the good work, love your pod.

    • @bodybalanceU2
      @bodybalanceU2 28 วันที่ผ่านมา

      "hacker" is a pommy thing - none of the pommy commentators say it properly

      I suspect league influence on nz sports fans too , games like state of origin there is lots of booing ,
      Die hard rugby fans may not imitate that ,but your younger more casual fan might see that as the way to behave

      You make a great point my friend and in particular wales crowd has changed in recent years . Visiting there now seems like a boozy night out in Cardiff with football fans all around. This guy zach has impressed me and I’ll be watching his shows from now on.

    • @Tom_McMurtry
      @Tom_McMurtry 27 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I put it down to American sports like basketball being much more popular amongst the younger crowds now and the noise home crowds make for opposition free throws is tremendous. Inspiration from that.
