This theme isn't even referenced on the Wiki page for MNF. That's how far into obscurity people have pushed it and yet it's one of the most memorable sports themes ever...at least to me it is.
This was the secondary theme for ABC MNF from 1990-2000, and also for ESPN SNF from 1998-2000. A remix of this was used as the theme for ESPN Sunday NFL Countdown, and later also for NFL Primetime (during the postseason only, as by that point NFL Primetime was no longer on during the regular season, this theme was never used for Primetime during its main run)

This was the period where Disney slowly merged ABC Sports and ESPN together. So Sunday Night NFL, which was the name of ESPN'S Sunday night package until 1997, became Sunday Night Football and was connected to some degree with ABC'S Monday Night Football. This theme was introduced in 1990 as an alternate theme to Monday Night Football. In 1998, this theme became the primary theme for all of ESPN'S NFL programming, including Sunday Night Football. But it was discontinued after the 2005 season for some reason. It could have been due to ESPN taking over the Monday night slot, as NBC took over the Sunday night slot and turned that into the Game of the Week, what Monday Night Football was on ABC. And I think they should have just kept Patrick, Theismann and Maguire for Monday Night Football. But nope. And now we have Joe Tessitore and Booger McFarland. Ugh

This takes me back to 1998.
For some reason it makes me think of a slow-mo replay of Randall Cunningham throwing a long bomb TD pass to Randy Moss.
