    I never sew over pins, then one day i was sewing and my needle broke and flew JUST missing my cheek. I had hit a pin left over from the underside that i didn’t see. I still don’t sew over pins intentionally.
    Thanks so much for the well explained tutorial for matching patterns.

    I'm grateful for your clear instructions. This is one of those tasks which, in hindsight seem so obvious in what's needed for accomplishment. I not only needed to watch this video, but had to sleep on it overnight before recognizing where my attempts departed from your own technique. Thank you!

    I know this is older, but I Just saw this when looking for an answer to matching....thank you! My steps were the same leading up to the marking and pinning..that is what I was having trouble with. I really appreciate this video...I have to match a large motif with a white background and it has to be exact...Thank you, just what I needed!

    This works! Took me a couple of gos the first time - the pin above is key, to make sure the fabric doesn’t move back when folding it flat to pin across the line.

    Thankyou very much for this tutorial. I've just finished pinning and I am about to start sewing. Would never have known to place the pins in a horizontal position and that I could sew over them.

    Things I learned in this video:
    How to match patterns
    You can sew over the pins
    The perpendicular pins are necessary to prevent the fabric from moving lengthwise in the sewing machine

    I am making striped curtains, so will find your tutorial very helpful. Can you tell me please, do you sew both sides of the curtain in the same direction on each side? Do you have to snip the selvedge to avoid the pucker once pressed? Thanks so much. Thanks for sharing your expertise.

    I’m trying to make a wall hanging with fabric. The fabric is 47” wide. I want to make it double wide. It like a drape but I want it to lay flat on the wall. The pattern of the fabric is wavy lines of diff widths & colors. So looking at your video I’m wondering how U determined where to cut the length of the top layer of your fabric so it will match. In this video the pieces of fabric is already cut & laid on top of each other.

    • @SewHelpful
      @SewHelpful  ปีที่แล้ว

      You need to cut adjusted cut drops (whole number of pattern repeats) so the pattern matches at the join. It is fully explained on our website here www.sew-helpful.com/adjustedcutdrop.php also with a full article on joining the fabric as well. there is a small chance you may have what is called a half drop pattern repeat fabric, there is another article explaining what to do if that is the case.

    Lynn, Go to our website www.sew-helpful.com there are FREE full written tutorials there with EXTRA HELP where we answer questions about the tutorials. The tutorials take you through making up step by step. Snipping the selvedge depends on how tight it is, on some we do others we don't.

      Please don't sew over pins. It is bad for the needle as it hits the pins. Also sometimes the timing will go fir a toss and you will have to get it set professionally. 🙏🙏
