  • Please note I am not a medical professional. Foods that I eat on a regular or daily basis which help to keep my ADHD symptoms under control. It's best to avoid refined sugars and keep foods as simple and natural as possible.
My general preferences are: Eggs, Organic meats/fish and low GI complex carbs.

The only difference i feel is when eating carbs. If i eat to much carbs/sugar i just get tired, and when im sticking to Keto im awake all day no spikes at all. pasta, potato, flour may taste good but im having second thoughts whenever i eat it now. I do cheat now and then just to feel the difference :)

Going gluten free helps !!!! try to Eat foods that can be found in nature... avoid processed food..if you want fried food...fry it in LARD... avoid vegetable oils...!!!!!!! Eat foods your great grandmother would recognize...i have ADHD...went along time... gluten free then at this last Thanksgiving ....I ate some food with flour in it...I had extreme anxiety for a couple a days...the food we eat effects our brains...no doubt...

I really appreciated this video. I appreciated that you weren’t telling ppl there is just one way to eat but what you have found optimal may also be optimal for them and to listen to their body.
Also because these are my hyperfocus topics I often look at diet first. I have been obsessed with nutrition and cooking to heal myself from half a life after harm through addiction and poor nutrition choices.
I have done many woe including vegetarian, vegan, pescatarian, low carb, keto, whole food and low glycemic index diets.
I found vegan and vegetarian very beneficial for my initial healing, keto was excellent for weightloss and removing sugar addiction and cravings.
I am currently taking a note from the data collected on Centenarians. I enjoy a traditional Japanese breakfast most days and eat traditional Greek and Mediterranean meals for dinner most days. This still involves lots beans and nuts but moderate grains. I like to focus on getting my carbs from things higher in fibre primarily vegetables. Lots of herbs, greens, mushrooms and root veggies with quality proteins of all kinds depending on the day of the week. We don’t eat a lot of red meat or chicken but rather eat them in moderation and eat more tofu, fish and lentils.
I rarely eat anything with sweetener but when I do it’s a small amount. Or something that won’t spike my glucose like stevia or erythritol.
Also I’m the last 2 years I notice gluten sensitivity had gone way up and every time I eat it it takes just a few days before I experience depression. I also wonder if being keto increased my sensitivity. Regardless I stay a way from store bought gluten free things and eat mostly naturally gluten free foods with the exception to the occasional gluten free bread slice.
Recently it was recommended I take a number of supplements to help with the issues I was having. And so I have started those. We’ll see how that goes. I do feel more focused today than my average day but we’ll see. I have never been medicated so hence supplements.

I’m a nutrition student and have adhd myself, I completely agree on minimising processed foods! however I have to tell you, fruits are NOT bad, it’s actually recommended having 3 portions EVERY day and natural sugars don’t spike your blood sugar in the way, obvs don’t eat much if you don’t want to but just wanted to stop misinformation being spread, ty for the disclaimer tho! wholegrains and veggies are great! wholegrains are best being the base of your meals then adding lots of veggies and beans and pulses are super gd! whole foods are always best! abt the keto diet, low carb diets aren’t optimal for the human body as we need glucose for our brain to function and it’s our primary energy source so is very important and should make up the majority of our diet, all the reliable research backs this up, it’s important to have a variety of foods and eat a balanced diet that mainly consists of whole plant foods, for me i find wholemeal bread with hummus or falafel and veggies, oats with fruit and pb to be great at keeping me going and giving me the ability to concentrate, ty for sharing this video tho!🤍

I am such a carb lover! I find it really difficult to get enough protein each day and I just live on carbs and fat it seems. I am working on changing this but it's a challenge because A) I am trying to be in a small calorie deficit and fat has a lot of calories, and B) carbs fill me up for a bit longer. Although I am always hungry 2-3hours after eating though...

@@ADHDMastery Fats are more calorie dense than carbs, which are equally calorie dense as proteins, so you don't need to increase them by a lot to compensate for the avoided carbs. So if you where at 300g of carbs and reduced them 50% you avoided 150g which roughly means 600 kcal.
A 100g of most nuts and seeds have 600 kcal, and half of them are unsaturated fats, and the other half are proteins. And you get to avoid artery clogging saturated fats, oxidative stress and animal exploitation.
I'm not a physician but I undestand to which degree a high protein diet helped you if you have ADHD, and I can assure you that the breakfast you just showed did not work well for you at all, however wellness you'd percived.

Just found your channel and I really love what I'm seeing so far.
Your diet in this video is almost 100% exactly what my diet is! Really amazing to see... only thing is I make sure I get Kale in every single day. Either I add it to my salad, really finely chopped so I don't have to taste it so much... or I put it in my morning smoothie with 1 whole banana and lactose-free milk. The banana masks the taste of kale.
I'm struggling with my ADHD really bad still but I've been off medication for about a year and a half and when I started this kind of diet, along with CBD twice a day, it did get better. I started eating this way because I'm diabetic. Obviously with my body not regulating sugar properly, it affects my brain.
Anyway thanks for these really amazing videos! ♡

When I’m eating unprocessed foods, keto, or low carb/paleo style, I do feel like my symptoms are much improved. My mood regulation is really the most noticeable thing. I used to take Attention Daily by Gaiakids as a supplement in college and just started using that again (it’s now called Gaiakids Focus) and that along with eating low carb/nutrient dense food seem to work the best for me. I fall off the wagon, but I always come back to it. Sleeping more and regularly taking K2/D3 and Magnesium Malate are extremely helpful, oh, and I try to take a vitamin e and hemp cbd pretty often for my mood.

Green keto works best for me. I've been on it for almost three years, and I concentrate and sleep better when I am on it. I've experimented with "cheat days" that involves carbs, and the refined carbs completely mess up my brain. The complex ones have the same effect but to a lesser extent, but the low carbs are where it is at for me.
I've tried veganism and while it worked, I developed carb sensitivities so had to stop. Green keto is the diet that has worked fabulously well for me. I've been off Concerta since getting on it, and I am happier and feel like a million bucks when on keto.

I'm reading all of you saying keto diet is great for ADHD and also for PCOS, and I have both, so I will certainly try it, but then again, both me and my bf have a tendency for heart conditions in our families, so I'm worried about that part, as people say it's not recommended. But I'm left wondering if it's the keto diet itself that is bad for your heart, or the fact that people are still throwing bacon, fying stuff and using every kind of oils in there so that they lose weight without sacrificing so much... i mean, my diet is supposedly mediterranean (supposedly because i've been lazy cooking and going for fast foods), but here on the mediterranean we would never use bacon and fried stuff on a diet while trying to be healthy...
So, anyone doing a helthy based keto diet is tracking their cholestrol and heart? any feedback on it?

Hi again Stuart, your last video was so good ! Wowed. All your videos are awesome- I guess you may not understand why? Well, you're very much like a light on people's pathway. I've struggled exactly the same as you, it's uncanny. My heart goes out to you simply out of respect that you are helping others, I could never achieve what you do. And lifestyle content is just so awesome.
Finally- intermittent fasting, is so good- it really works. I fasted all yesterday, and still worked hard- cut up two dead trees and cleaned up all debris then the grass under the fallen trees, for an elderly widow neighbour. Just because. And when I got home I almost caved and cooked some eggs, but I chose not to- I waited until 7 pm. It creates calm in me, and clarity. I also love the effect of black coffee,- with adhd it is important to regulate how much coffee we have, it is good but there's a limit too. But yeah I need it. I love iced coffee- that is something I swear by.
And with fasting- I love to eat fruit- if I'm at work, you will need some fruit. Mandarins for some reason are amazing while fasting. They stop the hunger, and correct blood sugar. I also like to buy naked ginger to munch on.
Amazing to see you on our TV, take care buddy. I was real inspired by the weight training, it is awesome for us.

The omega 3 levels in eggs vary depending on what the chickens have been feeding on. So it's a good idea to buy organic eggs if you can as organic standards (in UK at least) as fairly strict which generally results in the hens having access to more nutritious and higher quality foods than the standard free range or barn hens which are farmed in the UK.

It's cheaper, efficient and you get to avoid the colesterol, the saturated fats and the animal exploitation which isn't needed to mediate your food intake for you to get the healthiest possible diet.

I think your absolutely on point! I suspect I may have adhd because I experience this crash and fog after processed or sugary food. Omega has been part of my life since covid as I had to reassess my eating choices due to low energy from poor diet. I definitely ate more veg but added a lot more protein helped my brain more.
Thx for reminding me about the coconut that was a game changer.

@Sewage Water I'm noticing quite the opposite.
I've not used animal products for a year and a half and I've never felt healthier.
Making such a sacrifice has also given my self-esteem a massive boost.
Giving up my car and taking to 40 mile-per-week (to and from work) cross-country mountain-biking has helped as well.
ADHD has always made me feel a bit thick at times, despite being fairly academic, but my recent lifestyle changes, and the resulting pride I feel in them, have turned my personality around considerably.

I read that tyrosine and phenylalanine are helpful for inattentive ADHD. In combination with protein foods these supplements seem to help me get motivated/focus.

Yes, eating a lot of protein in general is already the same as supplementing tyrosine and phenylalanine. But make sure to eat beef or lamb instead of chicken and eggs, this is because chicken/turkey and eggs have a higher tryptophan to tyrosine ratio, meaning that they will make you feel less motivated and more sleepy after eating. Beef and lamb have a higher tyrosine to tryptophan ratio, so they will make you feel more motivated and focused after eating.
That is a trick a lot of people don't know. People sometimes get misdiagnosed with adhd because of this, eating too much chicken and not enough beef can really make you foggy. It quickly creates an imbalance and can generate adhd-like symptoms in normal humans.

Anyway, you cannot be ADD if you have the patience to tend plants, especially ones that are not for food :D

Not true at all. I hyper focus on my plants and taking care of them gives me an outlet. Like art does for others.
ADHD isn't the same for everyone at all times in the day.
