It's a true gem for sure - and this weekend, with Monday being a holiday, most Canadians with boats are out and about on the waterway, enjoying the sun and fun! Thanks for watching! :-)
This might not be the only comment on this video, but I just started watching and didn't want to forget like I did on another TH-camr's video (Not loop related) First, love your videos and the narration. Second, spiders! Parents had pontoon under covered slip and I'm sure you know all about those spiders. Bought some spearmint oil and put in spray bottle with either alcohol or water (don't remember which but sure you can find out online) and sprayed the poles and all over the boat. Only boat in marine that had no spiders on it. Bought at one of the health food stores and it was a bit more than I wanted to pay, but it worked. Was going to search online for a cheaper source, but a microburst from a thunderstorm hit the marina and literally turned our side upside down. Dad's boat was the picture on the news for a few nights as the aft was under water and the bow was sticking up at about 60 degrees resting on a walkway!
Dan, did you see the episode where we checked into Canada and the document number they had on file was for a Mainship 390 named Main Course? She MUST have done the Loop before, I know we didn't have proof but now we do! :-)
Welcome to Canada. You are sailing in my backyard pretty much. Lake Ontario, Rice Lake, and the Trent are home for us during the summer months. Take care, eh!
I'm happy to see that you are enjoying your journey through my home province. The waterway is a great asset to Ontario & has a great history. Have fun with the rest of your trip through Canada. Tell Chris to try some of our craft brewery offerings. We make some fine beer up here eh.
We are REALLY enjoying your home area! How gorgeous and well-maintained it is! We are definitely trying some of the fine beers up here! They are fantastic! :-) Thanks for watching!
Glad you enjoyed Campbellford.. we live right at the top of lock 12 on the river. So when not on our own boat we'll sit for hours on the front step watching the loopers go by..
Oh Wow, you live in a lovely community! We thoroughly enjoyed Campbellford! I bet you enjoy watching all of the boats coming through the waterways! Thanks for watching! :-)
Did you get a chance to try the Peameal Bacon in Ontario? It is great. If you haven’t tried it, you it’s thin sliced pork loin covered in cornmeal and fried. I throughly enjoyed the Trent Severn Waterway. I had to sign a waiver to be allowed to transit it. I draft 5ft which is the depth of the canals. But I have a full length keel which protects my running gear. I rubbed the bottom a couple of times but had no real problems. In the locks, I made sure I had “swag bags” for the lock tenders. Cookies, hard candy, gum, a boat card, etc. They were appreciated and because I was solo, the lock staffs were very helpful.
Hello, we have NOT seen the Peameal Bacon anywhere as of yet, but you can bet we will try that! YUM! Yes, the TSW is amazing and we are enjoying every stop. Our boat buddies are giving out swag bags to all of the lock staff, a very nice thing to do! Thanks for watching! :-)
Read through the comments on here. Hmmmm...maybe you should try the spearmint mixture to get rid of the spiders! They certainly do not sound fun!! Stay safe and look forward to seeing your video next week!!
Told you I'd have more comments! Try to watch entire video 1st, but then comment and remember something else. CRS disease. On the Canadian flags, I watch Sea-Clef also. When they pasted back into Canada, she was dancing in the fly bridge under the Bimini top. Everyone should feel their country is the best, but we all know which one really is. :0) You should mention other loopers, which you do, but the ones that also have TH-cam channels. I'm not going to say any names, but your videos, and others that have less than 500 subscribers, are better than some in the multiple 1,000s. Likes and comments drive the algorithm (and watching entire video). I try to promote loopers on other sites by commenting I saw their boat on "this site". Think everyone wants more subscribers and some may need a little monetization to do the loop. (See the Sea-Clef reference above. But they finished last year. Good videos) Just a random thought
Thanks for all of your suggestions! We are definitely not in this to make money, we started this to show our friends and family what we were doing, and to help any future loopers by covering things that they might want/need to know! I am new to video filming, editing, and posting, and I am doing this real-time, so it will never be perfect! I am trying to be present in my loop and this is secondary. Thank you so much for all of your support, we truly appreciate it! :-)
Haha! Chris smiles ALL THE TIME, I just never seem to get it on camera! He doesn't like his picture/video taken which is funny since we are doing a TH-cam channel! Haha! I try to be respectful of his wishes! Thanks for watching! :-)
@@brianigielski9734 Hello, well it has enough room to sleep if that’s what you mean! It’s fine for looping - all we need is a bed. It’s not overly spacious but most boats aren’t, that have the bed in the bow. I would say if the 390 meets all of your other needs, the berth is fine!!
Hello . Thanks for sharing your trip. I have to correct you about Locks. There aren’t any pumps. The water flows in from the high side , then drains out through the low side. There are gates under water built into the locks to facilitate this. Thanks again
Chris, only 3 thirty packs? TAMU is gonna take your man card! 😂😎🐅 Question: When you tie up to the Blue Line or a wall, do you run your generator at night? Or is it not needed due to pleasant temperatures?
Haha, Jay! That was just Chris's reserves - TAMU man card is intact! :-) To answer your question, when we are on the wall and they do NOT offer power, we do run the Honda generator for a few hours to make ice and watch TV. If it's really hot we will fire up the Kohler and turn on the AC. But we have been so lucky, some of the walls on the TSW have power! It's only $10 CAD per day (a bargain!) Thanks for the question and for watching!
Ijustnoticedthat I’m unsubscribed ! Don’t know why , but “ I’M BACK “ ! When you get hooked up with a buddy boat could you designate if they have a YT channel. ?
Hello again! Yay so glad you are back! Thanks for watching and sure, I will definitely let everyone know if any buddy boats have a channel! Watch for next week's episode, we will be interviewing our buddy boats and letting you get to know them! :-) Thanks for watching!
I enjoy your videos and have been following you all from the start.
Thank you so much! We appreciate the kind comments and for watching! :-)
You are living the life you earned, and it is why we all work so hard and save. I'm enjoying taking the trip with you guys!
Thank you, what a nice thing to say! We sure have worked hard for this, and are savoring every minute of it! Thank you for watching! :-)
Enjoy our beautiful water way. I’ve been traveling it my whole life. Best thing our government ever did for the province and its people

Great suggestion with the spearmint! Thank you! We will look for that at our next port. So sorry about your dad's boat, that stinks!
So glad my old boat, is doing a good job for you.....too bad The Loop would not work for us....Loop On!

Well, your backyard is GORGEOUS! We are enjoying this area immensely! Especially all of the ice cream shops! :-) Thanks for watching! :-)

YES DEBBIE we should definitely try the spearmint! We will look for some soon - the spiders are HORRIBLE! :-)

Now that Chris has his beverage supply replenished, hoping to see him smile once in a while.

@@coolbeansloop2024Hi Lisa, my bride and I are still shopping for our loop boat. Wondering how you like the 390’s forward stateroom. Enough room?

Thanks for watching! I am only repeating what the lock attendant told me, so you could be correct! :-) In any case, locks are fascinating!
