Love your channel and content mate. Looking to replace an existing Daiken ducted unit (around 20 years old that still works perfectly mind you) it’s concerning seeing newer units seemingly fail more easily. Perhaps should follow the theory of it ain’t broke? Do you recommend anyone in Brisbane as I note you are Sydney based. Looking for someone who takes the care that you do (rare these days).
@@javedmower4091 sorry mate, I personally don’t know anyone in Brisbane. I’m sure there’s some Brisbane installers in the comments section though. I basically never have daikin units fail. This one I’m convinced it was the owner turning to many zones off whilst keeping the fan on that ruined the fan motor. New units are more efficient to run and are still good. They do have more components in them so naturally there is more that can fail but that shouldn’t be for a long time.
Hey Mitch. I may be a little late to the party but it may be worth taking a look at the 3 relays to make sure they’re not stuck on. I’ve seen that before.
Absolutely agree regarding Daikan, they are the rolls royce with an excellent coefficient of performance. After a lifetime in commercial property Daikan is my go to
Good to see another video from you Mitch, top quality as always. I've seen chatter online about Daikin being difficult to deal with for warranty issues. What's your experience been like? I wonder if there's a difference between retail customers making claims and trade specialists like yourself when dealing with them.
It should be in the NCC BCA that all equipment has adequate access. Why do they enforce it for Natural Gas appliances but not refrigeration. I've had to tell many customers the ceiling needs to be cut. Some don't take it very well. Anyway, good video mate.
The builder or owner should be the ones to cut the access panel, not you. Then they will be the ones that will need to do the finishing work after your repairs. Did you have them put in writing ( builder and owner) that they refused to put in a completely serviceable unit acces panel? You put out nice videos, much appreciated! Nicely organized truck!
@@UncleEarlHeatingAirCondition that would be amazing if they cut the access for me. I deal mostly with Altherma units and smaller ACs... we don't do much VRV here. Had two H7-01s last week. One in 3rd and one in 2nd year of working. Both had clogged filters because the units never had any service done. The older one had a damaged flow sensor which could've probably been avoided. Feels like people get complacent because units mostly run fine so they just forget about yearly service and proper service access.
You mention briefly how they had two zones open and fan on high. Are there any other zones on that indoor? I’m just wondering if the air flow was restricted and it’s burnt the motor out? 🤷♂️
I have 35 years in the refrigeration game and I could fill this comments page about Daikin were good in there day they struggle to get good tech to repair them good luck
@@rockbiterhd all good mate. I’ll do the repair on this one. I personally think that the customer wasn’t operating the zones as intended and contributed to the failed part. I’ll replace the fan motor and program a constant zone for the future.
If you’re doing the warranty, not sure what the issue is - unless daikin give you two hours to change the fan. Client cuts the plaster, etc you just change the part. Standard in apartment buildings.
@@jamesmartin6903 so I’ll order the fan off daikin and I’ll do the repairs. Daikin will reimburse me for the fan motor and pay me for my time. For Daikin warranty jobs, I won’t be out of pocket. Either will the customer. However, in this case the repair will require the ceiling to be repaired. I doubt that would be covered under Daikin warranty. That’s something the builder/ architect/ owner / installer needs to consider when building the project. So in a nutshell, I’ve never had a problem with Daikin warranty. My experience is always good.
@ I feel like with warranty jobs, you need to buy enough off the manufacturer that if they lose you it will be a significant loss. This is a very good question and I know exactly where your head is at. To answer honestly, no there isn’t. I had a company user guide made up and also I went over how to use the system with the customer when commissioning. I set up the duct as such that this system has enough airflow across the coil with three zones open at all times. Only one zone should be off at any given time. The reason I set up four zones was so we could choose what area the inverter was working off. I’ve ordered a replacement fan and on return, I am setting up constants (which luckily can be done from the wall controller).
Hey Mitchell just a quick question how much should be the normal operating pressure of units r32 or r410a .in order to see if it runs fine and hv no leak

The units don’t sit hard up to the wall but very close to it. Just out of curiosity, do the other units you install sit hard up to the wall? If so that’s cool. I don’t cut the core hole on the daikins heaps close to the edge of the unit as I don’t want to be able to see it on an angle.
