Thank you! I'm already editing up another CRT video for the coming weeks (though it won't be on that other Toshiba) 📺 That CRT is working well but I haven't yet pushed it to its limits with other consoles. Dreamcast looked good on it though 😁
Through a chinese source some years ago I obtained a small VHF transmitter that a tv like this can actually pickup. These devices are hard to find. I only tried it once or twice.
McG cool name, he's one of my favorite film and music video directors. And this is a great video!!! I want one, why isn't there a single company who makes still CRTs and add HDMI. The retro community would be all over it, like herpes on a .... never mind.
That's fantastic! Yes, you're correct. I did go into the Switch menu after filming and could adjust the screen to fit but it still insists on 9:16. I'd need a scaler I think
@@SvennyMcG Use a PC and put some roms on it. There's a new Super Mario 3 hack called Mario Adventure 3. This game has been worked on for 12 years. Also if you love smash Bros. Download a 2d version of the game. It's called Super Smash Flash 2. This game is over 10 years old but still has net play. Unfortunately I gotta wait until I get a RF modulator to play these games on the TV. Smash Flash 2 should look great on a CRT.
@@SvennyMcG1440x1080p is 4:3. This worked for me on a PC. I had to use 1440x1080p because I couldn't make a 240p resolution. As long as the aspect ratio is 4:3 it really doesn't matter what resolution you use. Just stay in the 4:3 resolutions.
@@SvennyMcGBack with brand new comment. I discovered Nintendo and SNES used a hybrid of 4:3 and 8:7 combined. This effect is strictly for old TV'S. So on a windows PC. Make a display resolution of 1280x960 this is 4:3 aspect ratio. Now to do the other half of this hybrid resolution. Open Mesen Nintendo emulator. Go to Mesen settings and change the aspect ratio to 8:7. The games will fit perfectly.
Just hook up a NES or Atari2600. They are a much better match. If you want vintage on a Switch, hook it up to a 2009 plasma and be asthonished on how much nicer it is than your current junk LED tv.
Using an RF modulator is obvious and not the best way to do this. I would have RGB modded this set and obtained much better results. (Assuming I was stuck with an RF only set, I wouldn't have bought this in the first place, there is a reason I got my hands on a Trinitron TV instead).
I have around 18 CRTs with various inputs from JVCs to Sony Trinitron, DLP and rear projection, etc. There are definitely many ways to improve upon picture but this video was to assist those that may not be looking to mod. I didn't spend any money on this, it was free on the highway and I stopped and scooped it up as I appreciated its retro look 📺
Good to see some new CRT content!! Have you had a chance to play around on the big Toshiba CRT you had planned for the mythical basement game room?

There’s an rf to hdmi modulator on amazon. Do you think this would work also?
I imagine it would, though because I don't have it to confirm I can't fully recommend it. Hopefully someone else can confirm 😊
I suppose this is a novelty to a lot of people, but to me its just normal. Though, I use a VCR in place of an RF modulator.
VCRs are great for converting signals, I use one to connect my Commodore 64 to its matching monitor 👍 So you regularly play modern consoles on CRTs?
I have an old Panasonic colour tv with AV3 ports, would that mean I can skip the modulator stage and get the HDMI -> AV3 converter?
You bet! You'll get a working composite signal that you can plug directly into your Panasonic AV ports 👍
VCRs do this too if you can't find an RCA to Coax
VCRs are great for this, absolutely 👍 I use a VCR to connect my Commodore 64 to its monitor 😊 Thanks for watching

The VHF transmitter will send a wireless signal to your TV? Will it send video or audio only?
Isn't that an FCC violation? 😂

Thank you for the kind words! I appreciate you watching 😊 And I agree, CRTs could definitely have a market in gaming 👍
I found a TV today real close to my house. It's the reason I'm watching your video. You gotta work on the aspect ratio tho. You still have black bars.
