- This Afro boho New Orleans Living Room tour is eye candy for the DIY designer. The home owner had a blank slate when she reached out to me. She saw my designs on social media and said she loved how I made each room reflect the person I was designing for. She'd never worked with a designer before but she was open to new ideas to get the home of her dreams!
This open. concept room was reimagined and refreshed the custom on a budget way...with painted walls, repurposed and new furnishings, a new floor plan and new decor!

Love your designs. You're inspirational. I do have 1 question... I've always heard curtains should be long enough to barely touch the floor but I notice you don't follow that design "rule". Any particular reason you don't subscribe to that rule?
Actually, the curtains were supposed to be that long. The home owner ordered the wrong length so we had to go with the shorter ones for the video since this was in New Orleans and I live on the East Coast. She reordered the correct length and they were hung after I left. Great catch!
Oh, and what did you do with th privacy film on the door? I have a similar problem.
I added the privacy film! Super easy to do and the film comes in a wide variety of colors and textures. Home Depot or Lowe’s carries it or order a more custom look from Etsy!
