- Residents of Longwood district in Race Course, Clarendon, are lamenting that they have been dealt a raw deal by light and power company Jamaica Public Service (JPS). The residents told The Gleaner that they have been experiencing extensive daily power outages since May.

@@carmencampbell9304 One could almost say that is what the Jamaican govt did when they sold the electric company to the Chinese govt. If not light skinned enough, the Jamaican govt now will not pay for the education, speaking broadly. I have noticed that is is light skinnned Jamaicans in wealthier neighborhoods that have some older children vaccinated and in classes already, not to mention will have fastest internet. It is like the Govt is saying if the skin isn't light enough, they don't give power to the children to learn for the future, by cutting off their internet and all access of education deliberately. No light skin, the govt no pay to help the people. So I suppose you are right. NO LIGHT NO PAY AND IT IS NOT RIGHT AT ALL.

In order for the JPS company to remain in business, it has to reduce the hours of distribution. By doing this, they are less affected by the illegal extrication. Plain and simple, a strategy where the good suffers for the bad. The company has tried everything else but has now run out of options.

The government is so slack , and lack strength in regulating the jps , and bring in another company that can serve the people with integrity, and give the jps some real cometition on how customer service should work . These governments are a bunch of walking slackness . Jps need to stop lying to the people about overload, they are trying to save money by not spending on buying fuel . The timing of the cutoff's are very sinister . If this was here in britain , jps would have been fined a very large sum that would put a dent in their pockets , and that would wake them up . Sort it out holness, or step-down from your position . I guess i will not hold my breath .
