It sounds like these guys liked the approach the Mariners were using? Batting avg is a pretty good indicator of hits. Last time I checked hits are important.
I love RBI it means you're scoring runs hitting 300 means you're not an easy out. You got a better chance to win a ball game bye just making contact with the ball. Not striking out all the time
So what is batting average based on?? Tell the fanbase what a bunch of nerds with a spreadsheet and a bunch of analytics has produced? The worst batting average in MLB. As much as these geniuses would like to tell u they have discovered the Rosetta Stone of hitting, this game hasn't changed!! If I'm hitting 300 what does that mean? And if I'm hitting 216 which was the Mariners average before Edgar, which one would u prefer? And tell me, whilethere is an award for RBIs and batting average, where is the award for best analytics???
Batting .271 in the month of September which is 3rd best in all of baseball. Only the Diamondbacks and Astros have a better Sept. 2024 team average. It's not how you start, it's how you finish. M's have a lot to make up for at the plate, they have been horrible. Even Garver had 2 hits yesterday! Whether it's Edgar or just random chance I don't know.
@@danielmassey5249 bunting is really not… good that’s why no one does it. It’s usually an out, often not even a productive out. We only get 27 outs a game and this team needs all of them. Part of the reason they’re flawed is the fact that the M’s play in T-Mobile, they’re not adjusted for park factor at all. RBI is reliant on hitters to reach before you, which is less likely in T-Mobile as well. BA only measures hits, it doesn’t include walks, and while OBP does, it doesn’t factor in game situation. when that walk happens. A walk with two outs and a runner on third does nothing for us, it was basically useless because our team was unable to drive runs in before. All of these stats are useful in certain ways but something like wRC+ is just more complete as an evaluation stat than OPS+ ever can be.
Trade Castillo M's get: Ward, Rengifo, Schanuel, Crouse, Soriano Dodgers get: Castillo, Arozarena, Garver, Canzone Angels get: De Paula, Ryan, Ferris Let Polanco, Turner, and Garcia walk with no issues. Resign Snider and Voth SIGN SOTO!!! Sign Pivetta as well. Find a way to trade Haniger and get out from that money, I don't care, attach Locklear and get a mid reliever to take a flyer on. That's nearly an exact swap on where that money goes and the only increase in Salary would be the arb eligible guys Cal, Logan, ect. The fielders are then: Soto, Rodriguez, Ward, Robles, Raley, Rengifo, Crawford, Raleigh, Moore, Schanuel, Rivas, Young, (backup C until Ford comes up) That's a dangerous team, especially with the pitching.
You guys have a great pod
Tell me how batting average is a flawed stat?

Clearly they are doing something right 🔱
These are two guys who when they played little league when they got to the games they could not wait for the game to get over so they could get snacks
Separate things! How we evaluate vs what we put in the hitter's heads
Edgar's approach gets them out of their heads, less thinking and more just being present😮

I think it's Edgar.
Mr hold over .jack z..
There’s a huge difference between us as fans talking about how good a player is by using flawed, basic stats…
And coaching professional players.
What makes the basic statistics flawed? Give me the team that does the basics- bunt; advance the runners, especially in T mobile.
