I really love this interview... asked and answered the interesting questions learned so much about the Queen Lil Kim
She and a lot of legend artist are the last of the Mohicans. When they gone it’s a done. Makes me think of how things are when our elders pass in the family and communities. Yes things go on, but there’s a level of steadiness, strength, security, authority, and authenticity that dies as well. Especially when the traditions are not taught, passed down, or honored/respected. I have been playing with the idea of disengaging from hip hop (with the exception of underground hip hop, which to me is mostly pure in nature) in general and just keeping in touch with the past here and there to keep grounded, but it’s artist like Kim that keep me immersed for now. I never thought I would have to let go, and the idea hurts, but I’m starting to be ok with it. So is life.
