My $2,500 custom 12S XMAXX keeps stripping Gears?

- No matter what I try and do my custom 12s Traxxas XMAXX keeps chipping the spur and pinion gears. I even switched to Mod 1.5 gears a while back right after adding the hobby wing 560Kv motor and MAX4 ESC combo. Help!

I think the most common for people to grind out the spur/pinion is trying to self right like that when its on its back. The instant force of going forward and back, let alone 12s is just too much for the gears I imagine.
I think there might be something to that. I think the spur shaft being held down with just 4 short screws makes it flex when all the momentum from those spinning wheels try to stop and reverse so fast. I’ll tear it down and find out if I can make it better.
Dunno bud lol i have one and the pinion keeps ripping off. I cant get through 1 pack lol think i need upgrade the spur as the pinion is already upgraded. I got it used and dont know tbh 😂😂😂🤷♂️🤦♂️
We will find out when I get it on the workbench!
Maybe running it to tight?
It is possible, but I doubt it. They mesh really well. If you look at the top pinned comment, I explain what gears I’m using and why I did it.
What brand of gears are you running?
I did the max5 1100kv with Vitavon 25/35 swap with mine ... no issues with gears or any of the diffs.. only problem I'm having is the left side (only) wheel nuts keep backing off... outside of that it's INSANE!! LOL
Cheap eBay ones. I do not have the 560kv hobbywing motor on a mount of any kind. I chopped the body out to make it fit halfway into the well that the original motor fits into. I was trying to get the gearing down as I have no point of reference to go off of. I’ll try some vitavons of the same size and post a video of the changing them out and a test drive with them.
