- Reports that Prince Harry was in negotiations to step in to help the Royal Family while King Charles received cancer treatment sent ‘alarm bells’ ringing for the Daily Mail Royal Editor Rebecca English.
She tells this week’s Palace Confidential that while Harry might be open to the idea - and the prestige it would bring - there are plenty in the Palace who don’t want to see it happen. Richard Eden also points out the ‘rank hypocrisy’ of Prince Harry giving interviews slating the royal family one week, then adopting a much friendlier tone the next.
Meanwhile Richard also looks at reports in the Daily Mail that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix deal could be coming to an end and asks, what next?

As a Canadian and a longtime fan of the Royal Family, I wanted to add my view to the conversation regarding Harry and Megan - I am sick and tired of hearing about every time they step outside their home. Who cares??? They left the Royal Family and England for better times in the US - but someone needs to bring to their attention the fact that this means that they need to actually GO AWAY!!!! When you quit your job you don’t keep trying to come crawling back. I would never support them returning to royal duties. I think Sara’s suggestion that Princess Anne be sent on a mission to California to sort them out is brilliant - I would gladly contribute towards her airfare!!!

I think that's the right path for the long term precedence as well. Having titles granted and then tinkered with out of personal offense isn't just tetchy, it diminishes the grace and favor of the monarch that grants them. Media outrage can never be the basis for rearranging titles and peerages, for then they become truly politicized, utterly subject to this week's popularity contest. In that scenario, the monarchy is degraded and all honors and peerages with it. Being an ass transcends all social groups, everyone has got one in the family somewhere, and we all get the joy of learning to live with that the best we can. God help all of us and

I am Canadian. I personally support the Monarchy. I was heart broken when the only Queen I have ever known, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, died. I will not forget the disloyalty and shameful behaviour that “Just Harry” showed towards his grandmother (and his grandfather) in the latter part of her reign. In my opinion, Just Harry and his tag-along wife, Meg are shameful human beings and I’d like them both to remain south of our Borders. Further, I would like to say that I commend Prince William for his humanitarian speech regarding the the middle east. I do not believe it was political in any way. I would also like to send my best wishes to King Charles II and Catherine, The Princess of Wales for a full and speedy recovery from their illness/surgery. Thank you.

Henry was the grandson of our lovely late Queen, and how he and his wife treated the Queen while she was recently widowed and suffering from Cancer, was unforgiveable. As a Canadian I was quite distressed to learn that Harry was meeting with First Nations Chiefs to discuss aboriginal affairs. We have KingCharles lll as head of state, an elected Prime Minister and a Governor-General in the person of Mary Simon, an Indigenous person, she is Inuk. I can't imagine that any of these people were thrilled to have Harry meddling. He was here to publicize Invictus, not sent as an envoy by the King or our government. As far as I'm concerned, the less we hear and see of him and his Missus, the better off we are. Where they go, chaos usually ensues.

Trudeau didn't show his face at the Invictus events because he is loudly booed and called out everywhere he goes in Canada. Where I live in Canada most people tend to range from ‘don’t care’ to loathing on the topic of Harry and Meghan. Myself, i was quite glad when they left the country after Invictus.

Thank you for mentioning the Duchess of Kent, who just turned 91 years old. I know she prefers to keep a low profile, but I've always admired her devotion to the musical education for children.
I'm Canadian and everyone I know, including me have absolutely no use for H&M. We are still horrified at M's mockery of HMQE, their cruelty when both QE and PP were ill and dying. We would NEVER want them living here, even visiting for a few days makes me feel ill. They are users, grifters, nasty people. They can stay where they are.

Love this show, never miss this particular weekly episode and am now realising just how clever and skilful Jo Elvin really is: Manages to have a laugh with all the royal specialist, has great chemistry with everyone and never ever speaks over the top of anyone. She asks her questions and then patiently lets the answers unfold for us all to hear. Sarah might like to take note.

I am Canadian and I abhor what Harry and Meghan have done to the Royal Family. I certainly would be very upset if Harry would be permitted to take over certain Royal engagements. Had Harry and Meghan not needed money, Harry would most likely never made the offer of coming back into the fold. The late queen knew her grandson very well when she said in or out. Harry would cause more grief and disruption in the long run. Keep him away, please. The Royal Family has had enough grief to deal with because of Harry and Meghan.
I’m glad that prince William spoke out about the situation, as a father with three kids he is concerned just like we all are. It’s the children that are affected in this war good on him for doing this .
He was speaking from a humanitarian standpoint. He is not going after the governments telling them what to do like H saying the 1st Amendment is bonkers and then interfering with indigenous here in Canada.
I feel for the chiildren, but their parents voted for/support HAMAS and cheered on those evil acts of October 7th, which HAMAS has guaranteed to continue repeating as they fulfill their jihadi goal of eradicating Israel and Jews throughout the world. HAMAS are an evil, reprehensible, midieval group of terrorists and Israel has the right to defend itself. Palestinians have always refused a two-state solution. The myth that they want their own country is but a red herring, meant to distract from their real goal. What about the Israeli children who were kidnapped, with God-knows-what done to them in those tunnels? What about the ones who had to watch on, in horror, while their mothers were gang-raped, usually on top of their murdered fathers' bodies? Do you have any compassion for them, or shall we leave them to those wolves called HAMAS again?

I'm Canadian and a big fan of the Royal Family. However Harry and Meghan can stay in the US, I do not like them. It was a shame that the coverage in Whistler had little to do with the veterans and was more about Meghan's wardrobe and Harry as her handbag.
Well, they are in California which many of us no longer consider to be in the United States. We don't call it Commiefornia for nothing.
Having had cancer treatments involving chemo, radiation, etc. it was hard but at times you feel a little better it is nice to have distractions to focus on re your job as it makes you feel a little normal. Cancer patients miss their « normal ».

Yes, there were boos for Harry and Meghan. One group also sang God Save the King which Harry and Meghan seemed to think was great but I don't think it was intended as support for them. While at Whistler, Harry also stated he had spoken to First Nations leaders and was setting up more talks about Reconciliation. He demeaned the work of Canadian politicians in this regard and acted as if he was speaking for the Crown. As a Canadian, I have to ask what can the Palace do to rein him in?
I backed William's wish to start reducing the loss of life. He's probably the only one who could say all that and not be kicked out of his job by Hamas supporters.

Standing up for humanity is important. 50 K are estimated to have died. The Highest death rate in any modern conflict since world war II. Think about that. And people are dying from starvation and disease. Glad William showed his humanity. Side with humanity always. Then history will judge you kindly. In this case William. As a first generation Canadian, the Royal Family means a great deal to me. You spoke about the King not wanting to humiliating Harry publicly. It’s quite evident that Harry is humiliating himself quite thoroughly. We in Canada do not need the aggravation of Harry and his wife here.

Could not watch this episode. Love the chemistry between Jo and her guests, and how respectful she is in allowing them to speak all they wish. Got progressively more irritated and could not finish show. Sad bscause i wait all week for it.
Sarah Vine - could you please STOP cutting Richard and Rebecca off when they're trying to answer . Let them finish. You can tell , after a few mins in, both Richard and Rebecca start talking really fast because they're desperate to finish before Sarah starts talking over them. He said nothing wrong. It was not political or partisan. He balanced both sides. The Prime Minister ok'd the statement. It was an humanitarian statement, that he is perfectly entitled to make. There is too much darn pearl clutching here.
Harry, unlike William, basked in the fact that nobody really cared about what he thought or did. Harry has certainly taken advantage of this fact - doing whatever he wishes while resting on the credibility of the crown. What William needs to remember is that it is HE who is THE major cornerstone of the 'credibility of the crown'. As unfair as it is that Harry benefits from credibility that is not of his own making, he has also suffered the world's criticism based on how distasteful his behavior seems IN COMPARISON TO the behavior of the Royal Family. William need not step out to compete with the column inches of his brother. Be bold within the confines of the crown. Redefine the relevancy of the monarchy, but slowly, respectfully & with a keen eye on the will of the people. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES AS YOUR SELF-ABSORBED BROTHER. RELEVANCY IS NOT A COMPETITION OF COLUMN INCHES, AIR TIME OR PAID PR.
