Super impressed with this emulation! Thank you for sharing your lovely playing!
It is my pleasure Cydonia. This piano took my breath away and took me on this amazing journey. I am so glad you were able to experience it as well through the replay. Thank you for your kind words of support. Joyfully!
You are an amazing and inspiring musician and your videos are delightful.
You have my love and appreciation Mr Simeon Amburgey.
I wish you a Happy New Year.
I bought it!!! The lite version for now....will upgrade to the full one soon....Thank you Simeon!
Selumiel, it is my pleasure, I know you will enjoy experiencing this amazing piano library. Thanks so much for watching.
Love seeing your feelings! 💜 Rick Rubin Quote:
It seems like music has the ability to bring us so much depth in our soul that's hard to access any other way and without it there would be a loss, beyond the pleasure of it, feels like it's a window into something else.
Gosh I could just listen to you all day. I forgot why I even came here!
Thanks so much for watching. Hey, if you think about what you were originally looking for, please let me know🤓
All the best!
I actually forgot I was watching a review due to your incredible playing. I share your passion sir, it's the only thing that moves me that deeply.
Well I also forgot I was doing a review as well 🤓I am just so blown away with all of the various piano libraries I have had the privilege to experience the past several months. Each one seems to take me into different places of moods, colors and emotions and it really catches me by surprise when I find myself going down one of those wild and beautiful rides. Thanks for coming along and so glad you enjoyed the journey. I am praying there are many more still to come. All the best.
8:12, blessings. You are the first reviewer I see with such a touching genuine expression. I appreciate that a lot, Thank you. And thanking to library's creators in that way. I repeat it, you are the first one I've seen. Excellent!
Thank you Jose, I truly love to experience these instruments and share that with you. Joyfully! 🎹
This is the best piano library hands down. I have others none compare. This is perfect for playing classical piano.
Thanks Mark for watching. Yes, it is very impressive, you can hear the love and care they put into recording and putting the virtual instrument together.
Wow. This video was so moving. Your sincerity...musicianship...and the INCREDIBLE sound of that piano
So glad you enjoyed it. I was indeed moved by this library, the sound of the room and the expressiveness was really amazing.
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind words of encouragement. All the best.
Beautiful and best cfx sample.
Yes, there is nothing like recording this amazing piano in one of the most iconic recording spaces, they did a wonderful job capturing this. Thanks you so much for watching. Joyfully!🎹
i need to sit in your studio room for 2 years to learn every riff brother. God Bless you.
Only 2 years????? ;^) Thanks so much for watching. We are what we hear.
Toca usted ese piano como los angeles
Great video. Very moving piano leading up to the 8:15 mark - could really feel the emotion.
Bravo. That was totally supreme...What an experience..Thanks....lovely piano also, made so much more beautiful by your gift in music.
You are a gifted magnificent player to say the least!
Music has been such a wonderful part of my life since early childhood and I am so grateful for the blessing and opportunities I have to be able to share with you. Thank you so much for your very kind support. All the best.
Bravo Simeon! Garritan should definitely pay you for this.. I'm sure I'm not the only one who bought their product because of this post. Having said that, what I find amazing about this is your passion for music. Congrats. You are a fantastic pianist and artist. Best wishes from tropical Panama!!!
Rolando, thanks so much for your kind words, they are so encouraging. Yes, the Garritan CFX is a really wonderful library that took me away to some wonderful places. All the best.
Came to watch and listen to your review as after reading all the high praise I just bought this. And I love the sounds of the Yamaha CFX Concert Grand Piano. But then I was taken away by your beautiful playing and loved the passion you bring to that. Your love of music comes through in every note you play. And of course this is transmitted to the listeners as we love music too. Just downloaded it and it's quite large. Looking forward to experimenting. Inspired in part by your playing. Thanks Simeon! 👌👏🎹🎼🎵🎶🎤🎧
BC, I wanted to make sure I had replied to thank you for your amazing encouragement. There is no way I could be on this platform without viewers like you who are being blessed by the channel. It is such an honor to be able to share my experiences with you and I really appreciate the support. Joyfully! 🎹
love your videos so much! God bless you all the time.
one of the best VST ever... he has all the possibilities ... great . Your play is also amazing
Thanks, Julien, I am so glad you enjoyed watching. Thanks so much for the kind support.
Beautiful sound. Beautiful playing. I'm going on line to get it now. ;-) Thank you so much.
My pleasure, I think you will really enjoy it. One of the first things to look at when setting it up is your velocity curve, get that dialed in correctly and you will have the best experience. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks I have the Garritan CFX but i feel that the sound is very flat, the low notes are thin and not so powerful for me, i think the Velocity curve is something i have to play with as i feel it’s way too flat right now. I do hear the realism of the sound which none of my other Piano libraries manages as well as the Garritan CFX. I have a Yamaha P-155 Piano plugged into my PC.
20:21 About "Contemporary" setting. Would you recommend it for playing worship styles in a band? I play contemporary worship music mainly, and I need a setting that sounds good in the mix, without affecting other instruments
For that you would need to use the closer mic positions, because using too much of the room sound can cause the piano to lose some definition and create too much of a wash potentially with the other instruments. Having the extra mic setups is very helpful to dial in the sound you need and can go from very intimate to huge and cinematic.
I have been looking for a grand piano library with lots of natural reverb. I think I found it! This is such a rich library. Thank you for another great review. Your generosity as a performer and a human being is so moving. I don’t get tired of watching you. ❤️ Sometimes I watch your videos when I should really be practicing. 😌
Well, you can’t get much better than Abbey Road 😎 Garritan really did a masterful job capturing this piano.
Also, you kind words really are a blessing and encouragement, I so appreciate your support. Joyfully 🎹
My God!! That Sound of Music!!!!!
It sort of took me by surprise as well. 🤓 Thanks so much for watching.
@@PraiseTracks The way towards ending, you should have started the clair de lune section where it just starts all that runs...at 7:40
Your passion is so infectious and your gift is truly stunning! It’s such a blessing and privilege to be able to access your channel, thank you so much Simeon 👏🏾👏🏾🤩🙏🏾🔥🔥💛
It is my pleasure. I am so blessed to be able to share my heart through these amazing experiences.
Your kind words and encouragement are indeed such a blessing. Thank you 🙏
Phenomenal player! Came here for the VST, stayed for the performance
This has to be one of the most special times when doing a review. The piano just carried me away into some very special moments. I am so glad that you were able to experience that with me. Thanks so much for your kind support. All the best.
This feels like watching a grown man enjoying the finest pralines - without anyone getting their hands chocolate spoiled. Amazing!!!
I just love that, and you know you are absolutely correct! I feel so blessed to be right in those moments where you are surrounded by such sweetness and richness that it takes your breath away.
Then as a bonus, I get to open the TH-cam window and have the privilege of sharing with all of you. Thanks so much for your wonderful support.
@@PraiseTracks Yeah man, and it does really show and feel! :-) Thank you! I do love music as well and have loved it for a long time. I use PianoTeq 6 as of now, which plays really nice, is small print (modelling) software, but I really need better sound.
I love Pianoteq and have been playing with version 7 for a few days. I am planning to feature it soon, so stay tuned.
So when you mention “better sound”, what exactly are you looking for? Let’s see if we might be able to find a solution. Let me know what your current setup consists of and we can go from there.
Great video, thanks Simeon. What make is the swivel mouse tray you have?
This is something called the Desk Potato, and it makes a huge difference in using pointing devices and not harming yourself. Here is a link to some on Amazon:
www.amazon.com/s?k=potato+mouse+desk+clamp&crid=3QMHJWTGSSDHT&sprefix=potato+mouse+desk+clamp%2Caps%2C154&ref=nb_sb_noss_1
Gorgeous. Absolutely amazing. They really need to make a Abbey Road Steinway with 100 layers
That would be very nice indeed. I am excited about Spitfire Audio and Abbey Road’s latest partnership as it may produce much more than just orchestral type of libraries with the Mrs Mills piano one of the surprises so far.
Thanks as always for the kind support. All the best.
Thanks for answering my previous question. Greeting from Chile. I translate everything he says. I do not speak english. Thank you
19:16 What kind of hard drive you use in this video? Is pretty slow. And what the different compact & full install? Sound detail less in compact version?
All of my libraries are on Samsung SSD drives, I think this was on one of the 970 EVO drives. There is a lot of sample data loaded into memory as there is not disk streaming. So the difference in FULL or COMPACT is the number of stretched samples, so instead of every key you might get every third or fifth key sampled.
For overall sound quality difference, I myself have not noticed a lot of degradation. I would probably load the compact version for tracking if memory and CPU were a factor and then use the FULL and render the tracks to audio.
Thanks for watching and for the feedback. It is always interesting how the different sample playback engines handle things.
All the best.
@@PraiseTracks Thank you for very detail explanation. :)
My pleasure. Thanks again for watching.
How do you move the Samples to a Hardrive?
Hello, may I know how do you setup a live play with the garritan cfx vst? Thank you!
Hello Chifruit, wow that was a long time ago and was the beginning of this amazing journey. Long story short, I am using OBS Studio which is a free application for video recording and live streaming.
There are several sources that are being set up inside of OBS to create a SCENE. I have my main camera and then I have OBS capturing the monitor display where my main windows desktop is. All of the audio is coming from a loopback device in my then Presonus audio interface.
One of the best things to do is find some videos that feature tips on using OBS, I would highly recommend @EposVox, he is a great source for OBS tutorials and offers a course on how to use it.
I hope that helps get you started. Thanks so much for watching. Joyfully! 🎹
@@PraiseTracks Thank you so much for the fast response, I appreciate your help, keep up the great work :D
My pleasure. I noticed also that I am using a Logitech C922 Webcam for the overhead shot and a GoPro Hero 4 for my main camera. Looking back to this I am so blown away and feel so blessed and grateful to be on this journey. Take care. Joyfully! 🎹
You could sell me ANY old piano, Sir... fantastic!
Well the CFX is an extraordinary piano library for sure. Thanks so much for watching and the kind words, they are so encouraging.
Hi! What is the name of the song you're playing/improvising on from 5:35?
I found myself in The Sound Of Music. The hills are alive 🤓 Thanks so much for watching,
@@PraiseTracks thank you! that whole section gave me chills
quick tip: you can reduce the loading times significantly by excluding the Garritan CFX samples folder from the windows virus protection!
Start Menu -> Settings -> Update & Security -> Windows Security -> Virus & Threat Protection -> Manage Settings (under Virus & threat protection settings) -> Add or remove exclusions (under Exclusions) -> Add an exclusion -> Folder -> Select folder where Garritan is installed (in my case: C:\Program Files\Garritan\CFX Concert Grand) -> Click select folder -> done!
Great idea, I will try that. The only thing I have running is Windows defender but any way to reduce the load time is always welcome.
All the best.
Great, I went ahead and added my other sample data folders to see what happens. All of these are either SSDs or NVME m.2 drives so it will be interesting. Thanks again.
You have fantastic piano skills, this has been a joy to watch. I agree with you wholeheartedly about the bottom end, exactly why I've just placed my order for a copy! I owned Garritan's Steinway Concert Grand for many years, convinced I never needed another, until they sadly pulled support. But I feel I'm going to be happy with it's replacement
I think you will be very happy indeed. There are a lot of adjustments to mics, room ambience, release noises, etc. that you might have to play around with but the overall quality of the library is undisputed.
Thanks so much for watching and the kind words of support. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks Would you mind telling me about your SL88 Grand experience please Simeon? I'm stuck between choosing the Kawai VPC1 and the SL88 Grand. I actually have a lot of potential uses for those joysticks and I do like aftertouch, however I've seen a number of videos on TH-cam purporting that the SL88 Grand has reliability issues, particularly with sticking keys. What has your experience been like?
My experience has been extremely positive with the SL88 Grand. I think it hits a real sweetspot when it comes to features and overall performance. The VPC-1 is definitely a great controller. I recently played one of the Kawai digital pianos that had some version of their keybed and I really did enjoy playing it. The Kawai controller also has the escapement feel that a more traditional piano keyboard would have.
What I love most about my SL88 Grand experience is the total dynamic range of the keyboard itself. It can generate the softest velocities while also responding to the very loud and dynamic.
The thing that limits most controller is the MIDI specification itself where a velocity can only be in terms of 0 - 127. With the MIDI 2.0 Spec just adopted, you can look forward to the next generation of keyboard controllers to have a much higher resolution as well as implementing MPE (MIDI , Polyphonic, Expression), which will takes things way beyond where we are today.
@@PraiseTracks Thank you Simeon, and I agree. MIDI 2.0 has been on the tables for ... well over a decade now, and it'll be interesting to see how it is implemented in the end. I personally feel that MIDI had been a staple for decades that in many ways future-proofed itself and I actually published a book on how much more there is a person can do with it, beyond what most people think. I had always been partial to the traditional 5-pin din connections as they never needed drivers and therefore never became obsolete, but I digress. Thank you so much for your demonstrations and your insights, you have been incredibly helpful to me.
MIDI was the original Plug N’ Play 🤓
I would love to know more of the work that you are doing as well. Keep me posted. All the best.
I think Garritan nailed this. I’m very picky, and have been through most of the heavy hitters. It’s my favorite.
Bravo!!!!!!!!!!
That is so kind, thank you so much. Joyfully!🎹
You have a wonderful talent Sir
I really enjoyed listening to this entire video just amazing such grace and style cheers mate
Thank you so much for those kind words, they are very encouraging. I am very grateful for the gifts and opportunities that have been entrusted to me. My joy comes in sharing them with you and giving credit back to the One who has given them to me.
Thanks again!
Great presentation!! I'm going to buy this Garritan piano plugin. Love your playing and talent!
I am so glad you enjoyed watching, there is nothing like getting carried away when doing one of these videos. I know you will really enjoy the Garritan CFX, it has such a beautiful sound and personality.
Thanks so much for your kinds words and I wish you all the best in this new year.
Hello Simeon well after a nice thanksgiving meal at my sisters I decided to see what you were up to again and I was looking for something we have in common to make things more interesting and boom we both use Garritan CFX. This is my favorite for a couple of years now and I love it's evenness and how well it's tuned. The way you make it sound is a joy to listen to. I wish you could get involved with
the Hauptwerk Pipe Organ programs I think it would knock your socks off. They offer a free player and there's plenty of developers that offer their organ sample sets for free plus there's good free harpsichords too. Maybe you already know about them but thanks again for the fine and peaceful demos. Dave
David, Happy Thanksgiving! Thanks so much for watching and your kind words. i really enjoy the Garritan CFX , they really did a wonderful job in bringing this amazing instrument to us all.
Sounds great, just about to open my keyscapes and try that out but I may have to buy this too. Great Demo Sir!
I would like to get a copy of Keyscape as I have heard so much about it, and it is Spectrasonics 😎 The difference here in this library allows you to select from different mic positions and even the types of mics , and in Abbey Road Studio One, so there’s that. Thanks so much for watching pm and for the kind words.
Thank you for this video! I think I will indeed be purchasing this VST!
Wow. Thanx a lot for your demonstration!
As someone who played piano as a kid, and really wanting sensitivity in a piano, this seems to be a GREAT one...
(I got emotional of the combi of your gentle playing and fabulous sound-character, that's a good indicator I'm in the right direction ;) )
And I can't believe the price for this product......
I really enjoy the Garritan CFX. It does indeed have quite a range of expression. The thing you have to get right is your velocity scaling, so the keyboard is able to communicate all of the subtle details to the virtual instrument. I would try and set a linear curve on the controller and then find which curve in the Garritan CFX feels the best.
Thanks so much for watching.
Hey man you seem like a nice guy, and these are the kind of review videos on VST that we need!
Thank you and bless you! 💪🏾
Thank you, and so glad you enjoyed watching, I am always grateful to have the opportunity. Let me know if you have any suggestions for reviews or question, I will do what I can, blessings.
Question, what does the "Room/Release Volume" and "Release Crossfade" knobs do?
These control the sound of the piano that "rings out" after a note has been played. The crossfade adjust the transition of the sound and the Room/Release Volume adjusts how much of the room ambience is heard. If you have this all the way down then the piano will sound very dry, and when it is all the way up you will hear the full room ambience, so a very wet sound. I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching.
This is too gorgeous... For live gig with a laptop? Looks quite big. How about the Lite version? Does it have the same "room" sound?
As Garritan cfx is awesome so the playing skills. Sir, you should start the piano training course.. want to learn your style. 🙏🙏
That was wonderful Simeon, it has to be the best Piano VST i think i have heard. I think I'm going to have to buy this one :-). Your range of playing styles is really someting, bravo!
I am so glad you enjoyed the video. I agree that the Garritan CFX has so much to offer and I know you will enjoy discovering it for yourself. Thanks so much for watching and the kind support. All the best.
Wonderful playing.....I’m considering buying, just need to know if pitch bend is supported? Some vsts don’t support the pitch wheel
While many VSTs do support pitch bend, I am afraid a lot of piano libraries do not support it. I just checked the Garritan CFX and it does not support pitch bend.
Surprisingly however ( and this one did surprise me), I just checked the VSL Synchron Piano player and IT DOES support pitch bending, wow who knew ;^)
Thanks so much for watching and for the kind support. All the best.
So damn good sound and well played, I have to buy it. Good review!
It is a powerhouse piano for sure. So glad you enjoyed watching. All the best.
I can’t wait to pair it with Spitfire’s Abbey Road ONE 😎
Such a beautiful video, made me tear up!
This piano library really brought out some deep things. I am always amazed how each library can touch a different part of who we are as musicians. Music is the bridge that allows us to tap into some of the most beautiful moments and to express the range of emotion like nothing else can in my opinion. Thanks so much for watching.
inspirational, brilliant, subscribed!
Your kind words are so appreciated. Thanks so much for subscribing.
Hi, friend. What is the page to buy this bookstore. And what software does it work on? What should I have? Thank you
Hello Hori, the link to the website is down in the video description.
This comes as a VST that can be used with your DAW if choice. It also includes a standalone version you can use without a host program.
Thanks for watching. Joyfully!🎹
Hi Mr Simeon Amburgey , Good improvisation
Appreciate that very much. I find myself just going where the music takes me. It is quite surprising most of the time as I do not know exactly what might happen next. Each piano library carries with it a unique character that comes across when I am going through things. Thanks so much for watching.
I've tried so many piano VSTs and as you said, Simeon, each of them has its own character. But I always come back to Garritan CFX when I want to feel the closest experience for piano playing sitting in front of a computer... the only one who could really give hard time to Garritan might be the gargantuan VSL Synchron CFX, never tried that though. Great job, Simeon! Unlike most of other reviewers you truly convey your love for Music!
33:24 yamm yamm ncopp yamm yaaaa.... funiculì funiculaaaaa...
That jazzy sound at 30:25 .. omg!
It’s truly amazing.
Hi Simeon, I love your videos.
Can I ask, when I bounce down tracks using this piano I get a hiss with every note/chord.
Have you experienced this ?
Depending on the mics selected, I would have to say it is a side effect of the noise floor. Check (solo) the track (pre effects) and crank it up a little to check to see if it is indeed the mics, as it could be something else in the signal chain that might be affecting certain frequencies. I need to load this back up as it has been a while. Thanks so much for watching and the kind words.
Hi from Mexico! Amazing video! And you have a new suscriptor! Do you have some video (or videos) were you show your setup? We are interested in do some lives with our Garritan CFX! You can help us with the configuration of your setup (most of all the Audio Settings for Live Streaming)? Or where we can find some tutorials about this cuestion?
So glad you enjoyed watching. The audio is being sent into OBS through the Focusrite 4i4 LOOPBACK output. I am also using Cakewalk by BandLab as my DAW with the first audio channel as my voiceover using live input monitoring in the track. I can then insert a virtual instrument to other tracks for demonstrating. On my voiceover channel I have the Waves NS1 (Noise Suppression), along with. VoiceCentric (for compression and sometimes reverb).
On the MAIN output I am using Waves Playlist Rider and their WLM Plus to control levels and loudness standards.
All of these are included in the Waves Creator bundle here: www.waves.com/bundles/content-creator-audio-toolkit#introducing-the-content-creator-audio-toolkit
@@PraiseTracks Thanks a lot! We really appreciate this! Congrats for all your work!
Wow, your playing is superr nicee, but I wonder how can you make such a beautiful sound on default settings? I dont think I can make this sound with default setting. I tried to tinker with the room release decay, different perspective, or could it be because I am accessing this software using logic pro?
TJ, when viewers comment that they are having issues getting the piano to sound right, it seems to be a very common issue; velocity scaling. If I were to guess, I would say you are using a Yamaha digital piano for your controller, but it is only a wild guess.
Getting your keyboard velocity curve set right will make a huge difference in how any virtual piano library sounds. I would start there and see what happens.
Most of the time when I do playthroughs, I rarely adjust things too much as to allow you to experience with me a more right out of the box experience.
Let me know how it goes. Joyfully!🎹
@@PraiseTracks wow! You guess it right! Yes, I do use Yamaha digital piano as midi controller and been having issues with syncing midi with video even though we took them at the same time, like I have to adjust the timing by 10 ms every now and then. I also have problems with velocity coz its always too soft on the midi side, so it sounds very different from the video, so I ended up adjusting the velocity alot to match it with the video
So glad you were able to make it work. The reason I guess was that this comment/question is probably the number one issue that I am asked about. So many viewers out there who are not getting the full potential out of the virtual pianos because of the keyboard controller. I would think Yamaha would be much better in this area but the majority of those having issues are using Yamaha digital pianos.
Thanks again for watching and please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with in the future. Joyfully!🎹
HI SIMEON. from Italy here a big fan. WOULD YOU TRY THE GALAXY PIANO VIENNA? it’s a Bosendorfer imperial of course and it’s like 10 years old? But still super high level. From 100£ street price could be a bargain!
I will see if I can get a copy. Galaxy instruments in my opinion are masters at piano sampling so it would be wonderful to see what this one sounds like. Stay tuned.
Que buenisimo
Thanks for the great video!
I have a question - I always have this hissing noise when playing and using the Garritan.
I connect my macbook to my roland keyboard with an usb cable and not an interface. Could that be the problem?
Do you use an interface and have you ever encountered hissing noise when playing?
Thanks a lot in advance!
My first thought is you might be hearing some of the natural “noise floor” of specific mic signals. These might be more prominent in mics further away. I will see what I can discover.
And I always recommend a good audio interface as it will definitely give you the best result. Built in audio on the motherboard while perfectly fine for playing back videos and media might not be the best overall for getting the expected results when using virtual instruments.
Thanks so much for watching and stay tuned.
@@PraiseTracks Thank you so much for your reply. Hope to hear from you if you find out something more.
I really love the sound of garritan. Can I adjust it to make it sound good for pop music ? And what are your opinions on the Grandeur from NI (is that better for pop) basically what is the best plug in for pop. Thanks.
Well the Garritan would probably allow you to do more adjustments. Also since the Garritan is based on a Yamaha CFX, you will have that nice signature bite on the top end.
You have to be careful with the Garritan however as the room can be quite present at times, it is controlled using some of the ambient mic levels.
There are also different mic perspectives that might help get the sound you are looking for. I hope that helps. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks
Is it true that it takes 133 GB of all your storage? Will it work on my the new 2020 M1 chip Mac Air?
@@PraiseTracks I think I will just stick with Grandeur from NI. But I am not sure between that, Ravenscroft or Embertone Walker 1955. Please help
Well, you will find that most of the newer libraries with multiple mic perspectives take a lot of storage, the Walker D is over 200gb.
Here is my video on the Ravenscroft, now on sale (check the description link)
th-cam.com/video/Zrx_Ui5cqos/w-d-xo.html
@@PraiseTracks Yes, I had watched your review on it, that really helped. Sorry for all the questions, this is just important to me that I get the sound right. If you had to pick a VST that sounds like an authentic grand piano with a decent/ considerable dynamic range and versatile for both Classical and pop, which one would it be? Grandeur, Embertone Walker or Ravenscroft
I just watched this video and the side by side video and just want to let you know that I
enjoyed them so much 🤩 This helped me a lot as I'm looking for a great and genuine piano sound for my Ableton. I love the way you're sharing your experience as you change the settings. I felt it too, it was like going on a trip. Your personality is very warm and you really made me smile a lot, thank you . I am now subscribing and will definitely come back 🤗
Carolina, welcome to the channel, your kind words are so encouraging. Thanks so much for watching and I look forward to sharing many more adventures with you in the future. Wishing you the very best.
Hello friend, ONE question, what piano sound you prefer? Garritan VS EMBERTONE Walker 1955?please
It depends on the type of piano sound you are looking for. The Garritan is a Yamaha CFX, recorded at Abbey Road, this will give you that Yamaha brightness in some of the registers. Also, Abbey Road studio A has more of a decay, so it has a lot of space to work with.
The Embertone based on an older Steinway D will typically be a little darker. It also has a drier overall profile since it was captured in a smaller performance space.
The Walker will have more dynamic layers, since they used an automated setup to capture the notes.
I actually need to pull both of these pianos back up and revisit them, as both are wonderful pianos. Thanks for watching.
@@PraiseTracks and spitfire Hans zimmer piano? do you have it or have you heard it? Do you think it would be a better piano than the previous two? I am looking for the best vst piano that exists, for orchestral music composition, movie soundtracks... the piano that has the most impact in sound. I would like to know your opinion my friend.
Hans Zimmer piano is a great concept but I was sort of let down by it. It seemed to not have the dynamic range that I would have expected. It leans more toward a softer to middle of the road dynamic. It has a ton of mic positions along with some very unusual piano and percussion effects.
I will say that the latest version of Pianoteq has challenged me and further blurs the line with what can be done with modeling technology. I think you can download a trial and test it out.
I will continue to see if I can find more information for you.
Simeon - I have come to the conclusion that there are some things that are beyond aspiration, watching you and listening to this probably for the Nth time, you are simply blessed of God - there is no other explanation for your fluency with, and the intimate love and bond between you and music.
Some things one simply has to acknowledge and be amazed at, and not become tempted to aspire to become like you, cos what you have is given to you alone, no one can be like you, no one. No one can do what you do, and sound like you. No one. You have you own unique musical language interpretation, and sound.
This leads me to the conclusion that everyone should seek God to clarify what they have been blessed with. and develop their own gifts, as you have done with your gifts. Aiming to be like others is pointless, and folly, We can never be like you or sound like you, you are gifted with music in an especially supernatural manner, beyond learning, beyond tutorship which is great, but some things cannot be taught, you either have the gift that imbues you with abilities that are special, or not. No amount of training or learning or copying or effort, can produce the kind of sound you create, unless God has already placed the special essence in the individual.
From now on I'll not bother trying to understand or analyse, cos what you have is much more than reason or training of knowledge of music or practice. You create so spontaneously - sure you have a lot of experience, but your results are more than experience, having a unique inimitable essence. You - what God created you to be.
Each person should find their own essence, as you have so profoundly found one of your God given essences.
That really blesses me. I do struggle often with the comparison - self rejection issue a lot but keep coming back to what I felt The Lord impressed me that I make a really bad somebody else.
Thank you for those amazing words of encouragement, I so appreciate the support.

O thought sinthogy ivory 2 was the best !
But this is amazing piano sound!
Good technique you have!

@@PraiseTracks is there a huge difference between light and regular version of garritian Cfx ? I have the light version but it sounds thin through external speakers compared to pianoteq
Which cfx is better vsl or Garritan. I really dont know. You playing is outstanding. Thanks a lot.
They both have their strengths. Have you had a chance to watch my Synchron CFX video? That might give you a perspective on its sound.
Sometimes the Synchron CFX can be almost too big because of the room. You do have so many mic positions to choose from. Another thing is the Synchron CFX is set to the far right of the stage so you might have to adjust the panning for placement.
The Garritan CFX has a warmth to it and also offers a tru Una Corda (Soft Pedal) dynamic layer, while the Synchron CFX uses a simulated una Corda.
There is no doubt that the Synchron CFX offers tremendously more dynamic layers which can provide a high level of expression. you can also fine tune each note using the Synchron Pianos player.
The Synchron CFX might come accros as harsh at times but these are things that can be adjusted to taste.
It is a very hard choice to make as each piano can fit a variety of styles. You have to decide which tone will fit your arrangement or playing style.
One good thing about VSL is they have a generous 14 day return policy so you could at least try the piano and hear how it responds to you.
I hope that is somewhat helpful.
Thanks so much for watching and the kind support.

@@PraiseTracks Thanks for your generous and thorough answers! Tiny question: What's your personal favorite VST piano across the board? :)
@@Birdmacher , well if I told you that then I would have to _______ ;^), No seriously that has got to be the number one question I get. The favorite piano is the one that fits into the arrangement the best. What sounds great in one song or setting might not work at all in another.
@@PraiseTracks Haha, I understand! I guess I'm just looking for an all-rounder that is the most realistic sounding as possible (from the player perspective). I wonder if that means one of the VSL pianos? They're just so darn expensive and I really can't tell if I have to buy the full version in order for it to sound alive (I like to hear some of the room for authenticity). Too many choices!
How would u compare this to noire? I do have noire but did want to try garritan to see the difference. I play vsts live so was just wondering if there was a difference when played live?
How to get the pedal noise to work even when i adjust the button i turn it still no pedal noise?
I am away from things now but will check it out when I get back in the studio and let you know what I discover.

@@PraiseTracks Thank you great videos
BTW I use in FL Studio daw
So I just checked it here loading the COMPACT-CLASSIC-DEFAULT Preset. If you go to the PIANO Section, you can see the Pedal Noise adjustment. Go ahead and turn it all the way to the right (around 5 o Clock). Now just press your Sustain Pedal and you should hear the "thump" of the pedal, as it is triggered by CC64 (sustain).
Let me know if that helps. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks Ok I will thanks
thanks for sharing... Only maximum 128 polyphony? some digital piano nowadays has 256 polyphony.
My pleasure. I will double check on the polyphony, as I can see your point. Some Kontakt libraries I have seen go way over 256 voices. Thanks so much for watching.
If you had to pick ONE piano software , what would you play? Just one Simeon. I've watched you vids and they sound amazing.
Well, that is an almost impossible question to answer 🤓
I honestly feel that when working with virtual instruments, pianos in particular, you need a couple in order to cover the different tonal situations you might find yourself in. Also, since I have played so many different virtual pianos it gets even harder to pick a definite winner above all.
I do love the Garritan CFX for its spirit and overall sound. I also find myself going to the Keyscape C7 for some things as it has a nice "produced' sound that slides right into a mix. I also tend to pull up the VSL Synchron 280VC quite a bit to get a somewhat larger but slightly more controlled sound, especially with all of the mic positions available for the Synchron pianos.
I hope that helps and thank you so much for the kind support. Joyfully! 🎹
Hi Simeon, loving your playing - can't stop listening! Any chance you could briefly describe your playing from 5:30-8:00? Is there a particular style that I should study up on? I'm sure you're just improvising but it's so beautiful!
I guess you could say it is just improvising from the overflow of my heart. Honestly I just start playing and find myself all of a sudden being carried away. When I hit on The Sound of Music, it was all over from there. I visualize seeing the opening of the movie, it always makes me really emotional when I see it. I have never received any formal training so to speak other than a few piano lessons when I was younger but my ear pretty much sabotaged things as I would always depend on that rather than actually reading the music, which my teachers really loved!!!!
Thanks again for your support and encouragement and I am so glad you enjoyed experiencing this amazing library along with me.

Ciao ho collegato il mio Pc alla mia CVP 905 tramite USB, ma si sente il doppio suono della tastiera quando utilizzo Garritan, perché??
Is this the internal sound of the CVP-905? You will always hear the built-in sounds of your digital piano unless you have a way of turning the "LOCAL" off, or what I do with my CASIO PX-S700, I just turn the volume all the way down.
If you are using the digital piano speakers for the playback of your computer audio, then you have to find a way to disable the onboard sounds so that they would not play at the same time.
Go to this link where you will see the Reference Manual. Go to page 98 where it mentions SYSTEM MIDI Settings and there you will see the description of the LOCAL settings. Check it out and see if that helps to solve your issue. Thanks for watching. Here's the link:

Excellent review of the Garritan CFX and nice playing, I really enjoyed that! With respect to the loading time of the full library will all samples, I think there is either an issue with your SSD or your USB interface as the loading time here would be a show stopper for me; Given you seem to use the default 2 GB max RAM, when you think about it , the maximum amount of data you are transfering into your PC memory is 2GB when you load a perspective which should be super fast with a good SSD drive.
I use Garritan CFX all the time with have a Mac book pro 2013/Samsung super fast SSD which I use for VST's and it loads Full Classic or Contemporary in a matter of a few seconds. There is a huge difference in term of throughput with the various SSD's in the market so maybe thats the issue.
Christian, I will have to double check what might be going on, as I have moved things around recently. I have a couple of NVME drives, along with several Samsung SSDs, even a couple of NVME drives I have moved to a USB 3 enclosure, where the Garritan CFX content is now. It would be an interesting experiment to see what the loads times are in the different drive types.
Thanks so much for watching, and for the kind words and feedback. Joyfully!🎹
@@PraiseTracks You are welcome Simeon. Keep the good work going on !
@@PraiseTracks Hello Simeon, just as a follow-up, I read a thread today on piano Forum and several users have confirmed that some antivirus, in particular the one proposed by Windows, slow down the CFX samples loading process quite significantly . By adding exception in the samples directory , they observed a spectacular reduction of loading time. Maybe that can help. Cheers
Ooooo that is good news, and yes I think I do have Windows Defender enabled on my system, so I will definitely check that out. Thanks so much for that amazing tip! I might need to include that in the video description as well just to let others know about it.
Having seen your wonderful video, I'm eager to purchase the Garritan software and use it with my Roland fp-90, whose onboard sounds I don't much like (love the action, not the sounds). But I'm a bit intimidated by the computer knowhow it might require. So I ask, once you load the software, is there much manipulation required or is this something someone with average computer skills can handle? I have a new MacBook Pro with 16 GB of RAM and 500 GB of storage, so I figure I'm in good shape with the hardware. True?
I love the action on the Roland digital pianos. The ARIA engine that Garritan uses seems to run very well in comparison to some larger Kontakt libraries.
Since you are running a more current generation of MacBook, you should be fine running this library. I would suggest an outboard audio interface to give you the very best experience as far as audio quality and latency. There are many available that would bring you a great experience.
Let me know if you have any additional questions. Thanks again for watching and glad you are enjoying the channel.
Thanks so much. I'll have to research audio interfaces. Forgive my ignorance. I am using a headphone amp (Schiit Asgard III) that has a preamp output, but I gather you're talking about a separate piece of gear. True? Can you give me a brief explanation of its use and how it figures into the set up? I'll take it from there. Btw, kudos on you're playing and the obvious enjoyment you get from it. It's a joy to see (and hear).
Is there a huge difference between full and compact?
I think it has something to do with how many dynamic layers and key ranges are loaded into memory. Also here is a comparison chart on the differences between versions:

nice chords, how about pianoteq, wicth do you like best ?
Do you know if there is any way to change the note velocity of a single key? Either in aria or standalone? My Midi controller plays g#4 at 127c no matter how soft or hard I play the key any ideas?
That is a hard one. I know with VSL libraries they do give you that level of control but I am afraid that might not be possible with the ARIA engine. Let me take a look.
Another idea I had was some sort of MIDI effect or filter that might be able to help with this. I will see what I can find out.
Thanks so much for watching.
What DAW are you using?
The problem is that although you could modify the velocity to be lower it would still only produce whatever velocity you choose. BOME MIDI translator is a very powerful MIDI Swiss Army knife of sorts that could probably do this.
Depending on the keyboard controller it might be worth trying to having someone open it up and clean the keyboard contact pads as that is what it sounds like might be happening.
THIS! www.codefn42.com/notemapper/
It is a VST plugin that appears to do exactly what you need.
One thing that stood out was the ability to RANDOMIZE the velocity scaling so each time it would receive the 127 value it could send a randomized value that I think is definable.
Check it out.
@@PraiseTracks thank you so much for the detailed response. Yes it is exactly that. I think it's clogged with powdered milk. I have a wife that constantly Makes powdered milk for our child on my piano🙄. I don't suppose you have any experience with sfz files do you? I'm a complete novice at this stuff.
A rep from garritan told me the best way to address this is by changing the note velocities within the sfz file but it looks like Chinese to me 😂 I'm using cakewalk but I use garritan standalone most of the time I only use cakewalk for recording.
It's g#4 thats causing the problem. If you are any good at editing sfz files just to tone down that one note I'll happily pay you for it. My pianos due to be sent off in 2 weeks for repair because of it.
but I'd do anything to get it back to normal in the mean time !!! If you can help with the sfz please send me a DM. But im going to try what you've said first thanks man!!
God is good!! This was awesome. I wish I had a keyboard at home (with good keybed action) to practice with this software. What is your background training in piano, brother?
First off, Amen! Yes, a good controller makes all the difference as it is what connects you to the instruments. As far as background, I started playing piano around 5 yrs old, at home and church. I have been in music ministry of some form or another most of my life. I had some basic teaching early but mostly, I have just been able to pick things up over the years through all of my various life experiences. Thanks so much for watching and the support.
@@mr.c1989 , thank you so very much, and yes I will keep you in my prayers. God indeed hates divorce, but even when it does His providence and grace is forever stable. You must base everything on relationship looking through the lens of grace. There are some deeper things going on I sense and this “fall” is possibly an attempt to be heard, or a cry for something even more fundamental to change. We get so caught up in trying to gain God’s approval by how good we perform, but he is more interested in having a relationship with us and that means loving us unconditionally. Hosea is a prime example and is actually a type of Christ’s unchanging love for us, when we fall, and even to the point of rejecting Him.
Praying for His very best and direction in all you do.
I love this piano sound. Does it sounds and play like the real grand? I'm thinking of buying it for Christmas to play for myself.
There are so many factors to consider but the Garritan CFX is truly an example of a great piano library. The sound of the piano in Abbey Road Studios is huge. The full version gives you several mic perspectives to choose from as well that give you some additional flexibility.
Other than the library itself, your keyboard controller will make or break your playing experience. Having a quality weighted action will really help connect you to the instrument and allow you to experience the full range of what is possible.
Thanks again for watching.
@@PraiseTracks Thanks! I truly enjoyed every minute of your videos! I was thinking about Pianoteq 7, but they cost a lot more than Garritan. Do you think Garritan would sound better than Pianoteq 7? I'm just asking for your opinion from your experience from both.
Pianoteq is an entirely different approach from sample libraries, as it is more of a virtual piano designer if you will. Also you will either love or hate the sound of Pianoteq. They offer a trial version so you can experience it to see how you like it. What I like about Pianoteq is that it is very light on using system resources, and there are so many different piano models to choose from.
With the Garritan. CFX you get a gorgeous snapshot of this powerful instrument. Another consideration with the Garritan library is that they went the extra mile to include more performance layers, for instance, including a true Anna Corda layer, which is the soft pedal.
I hope that helps? All the best.
I can't stop listening to the quality of that piano. impressive. What daw uses. Or which one would you recommend me to buy? It is not so difficult to load it. Please friend.
Hi Simeon! Thank you for the great demonstration of this library. I am super interested on this one. Just one question though: do you find the 128 voice limitation any trouble at all? I often go beyond that on my current VSTs, and this is worrying me about this library. I'm puzzled. In your video and many others I've seen, that doesn't seem to be an issue. Would love to hear your response! thanks!
Hello Secret, welcome to the channel. As far as voice limiting, I did not notice any type of performance hit or voice stealing. If you watch my videos, you know that I tend to play a lot, so that would definitely be something that would show up. Believe me if I had hit something like that, I would be sure to have gone into more detail for sure.
I hope that helps. Thanks for watching and for you kind support.
@@PraiseTracks Thank you so much for your fast and kind reply! I have seen it, it doesn't show up anywhere in your playing, even if you play many notes, pedal down. I am definitely getting this one whenever possible. It's an amazing sound and amazing library. I just cannot miss it.
It is my pleasure. Keep me posted and let me know if you have any further questions. Joyfully!
do you use a sound card? the sound is so great. I think you need a very good sound card to generate perfect sound like this. woow
The Garritan library is slightly less demanding on CPU and storage speed, just slightly. I would still recommend getting a good audio interface and the fastest storage you can to minimize any roadblocks to experiencing these magnificent libraries.
@@PraiseTracks thanks you, but i have a question: Does audio interface make the piano sound different in comparision with the same piano sound made by internal sound card of macbook pro 16 inch? thanks. Because I m try this garritan CFX on my macbook pro 16(I have no audio interface), the sound is not good in comparison with the sound in your video ? thanks
@@tranngocquy7652 You really do need an audio interface for any kind of music production, built-in audio is not good, Mac or pc. This one is a great start: www.amazon.com/Focusrite-Scarlett-Audio-Interface-Tools/dp/B07QR73T66/. The other big factor is the velocity curve of your keyboard. Simeon is using a StudioLogic which has a great velocity curve. Last part of the equation is the player. Simeon could play toy piano and make it sound good.

Hi, Simeon and thank you for the full explanation about the Garrigan CFX Virtual Piano. I like to know if the Garritan which seems to be the best virtual piano available at the moment, includes some pads, and strings in the package. I did not find anything which refers to this topic. In your opinion what kind of application would be more appropriate for the use of Garritan? Best regards
Garritan CFX does not feature any pad layers, I think you might be referring to Ivory which has some additional pads and layers that can be blended in with their pianos.
The Garritan CFX is an amazing piano library, the best is whatever piano suits your arrangement and honestly one piano library night not be able to meet every demand, that is why I love hearing what the different libraries have to offer. Each one carries a signature, a unique spirit and attitude that comes across when you play it. If you watch my other videos you can see how the different libraries bring different music out of me which I always find amazing.
Thanks so much for watching and please let me know how I can be of service in the future.
If I may know, how do you get such good volume levels on the Garritan ? when I play it with my piano, the sounds are pretty low . I dont know whether its a velocity issue or a volume or my digital piano itself , but I just cant get it to sound like this, I tried tweaking the velocity curve from the vst itself and using other plugins, but that ends up making the soft dynamics disappear ,every note starts sounding loud. I tried taking the volume sliders all the way up but that ends up creating a distortive sound. Any advice on how to fix this ?
I think I should also mention here that I use the Yamaha P45 as my midi controller, if anyone reading this who also uses a P45, found a solution to this . Please advice, it would be really helpful :)
So getting the right velocity curve communicating from the keyboard to the virtual instrument is critical. I have found a couple of forums where they mention the P45 is especially hard to get to respond as you would expect. I will include those here for your reference. Depending on the music production application you are using you can insert a VST Velocity Scaler plugin that can give you a lot more control to attempt to get the response you are looking for.
Sorry for the problem you are encountering but hopefully there is a solution out there. Here are the links below and thanks so much for watching.
*KONTAKT FORUM P45 Velocity Issues: tinyurl.com/yytzzq93

freevstplugins.net/veloscaler/
Hello again, thanks for replying within such a short notice . But I wanted to let you know that I did look up on those forums before, sadly there are no real solutions over there . About the "Veloscaler" plugin, I did try using it a few days back but having no solution with it aswell because scaling eventually leads to having almost no soft dynamics . Again, this makes the overall playability very unrealistic. With that being said if you do know anyone who came up with a real solution using a P45 , please let me know. Or maybe if you could advice me a digital piano model around 500$? Then I would just sell this and look forward to buy the one that you would advice .
OK, thanks for the follow up. Sorry for the redundant information but if someone is browsing the comments it might help.🤓
I will keep a look out for some other controller alternatives and see what happens. Please keep in touch as well and let me know how things go. All the best.
I think I found two keyboard controllers that might work for you; the Studiologic SL88 Studio and the M-Audio Hammer 88. Both of these are just under $500 and I ha e experience with the SL88 Grand as well as my older SL880 and I have found both to be amazing keyboards. I have not experienced the Hammer 88 but have heard a lot of good things about it as well.
Hey is that a Studiologic Fatar tp40 graded ?
In this video, I was using the Studiologic SL-880, which is over 15 years old, it is a great keyboard. I am not sure what the exact action model is but I do know it is graded. It uses the plastic Keybed which is a little lighter than the SL88 Grand I am using now which has the latest wooden keybed. The SL88 Grand also has such a wide velocity dynamic range as far as really being able to play those very soft dynamic layers.
Thanks so much for watching. All the best.
Does the compact version really has the same quality except less presets? I mean, same number of layers, etc?
I think you might mean the Lite vs Full version. The Lite version only has the close mic perspective but still provides most of the other features. Here is a breakdown of the Full vs Lite versions.
www.garritan.com/products/cfx-concert-grand-virtual-piano/compare-cfx-lite/
Great playing and videos Simeon. The "limit" button doesn't seem to work properly; turn that off. Volume sliders should NOT be much higher than 5 else distortion; lower the ambient slider instead (Per Jeff H the programmer on PW forums). Excluding Garritan from anti-virus scan can make it load much faster especially on nvme ssd. Dynamic range of 80%-90% is a popular setting at PW forums.
Yes, thanks so much. It is getting used to all of the nuances of how each library is set up to get the best from it. I tend to be very spontaneous when I first install a library and my excitement causes me to want to share my experiences right away. I am learning to be a little more patient and read the documentation when available to get more familiar before jumping on, but sometimes I just can’t help myself. Also the loading may be due to having the samples on a slower SSD, as I do not have any anti virus running when I test libraries as they sometime can be more harm than good.
The Garritan CFX is a landmark library with so much love and power in its character. Thanks for watching and I so appreciate your feedback. All the best.
Whats the difference with lite and the full version?
You get only one mic perspective (close). Here is the complete comparison: www.garritan.com/products/cfx-concert-grand-virtual-piano/compare-cfx-lite/
@@PraiseTracks oh ok I understand I will definitely go with the full version!!
Hello Simeon! Thank you for this video! I just have one question.. How do you connect the piano with this plugin?
It comes as a standalone instrument, or you can use it in your DAW as a VST Virtual Instrument. This was in some of my early piano library review days and it looks like I am using the stand-alone version here. You can select your MIDI and Audio settings within the standalone.
Thanks so much for watching. Joyfully 🎹
May I ask is the CFX synchron worth buying if I already have this
So I would say unless you are looking for a specific sound, I would say not really. What I will say is that the Synchron CFX is a beast of an instrument that with the full version give you a lot of places you could go. I would recommend that you watch my videos on the Synchron CFX, and see if there are demo licenses available from VSL where you could try it yourself. VSL also offers a 14 day return policy that gives you the opportunity to try before you purchase.
I hope that helps. Thanks so much for watching. All the best.
The other thing to consider is that typically the SYNCHRON pianos require very fast storage and cpu in order to have the best experience. I am not sure how they perform on the latest Apple Silicon.
One more thought, all VSL libraries at least for now require the eLicenser USB dongle to store their licenses.
@@PraiseTracks
Will VSL pianos work with garage band as a plug-in? (Along with the dongle. )
Yes, the Synchron Piano engine runs as a VST or Audio Units.
Great review, thank you! I also own the Garritan CFX Grand and totally love it! Just very minimum complains with some secondary noise here and there on some keys, but nothing that can change the truth: an amazing masterpiece ! Which keyboard controller would you suggest for controlling the Garritan at its best? I read in a comment here you own the StudioLogic SL88 Grand (From the video the keyboard looks like an "old" StudioLogic... maybe the 990 model?), which I own too but I don't love that much because of the somehow "hard" keys and the Ivory-like white keytops that IMHO are not similar at all to real Ivory keys. What keyboard are you using in this video? Would you suggest it over the StudioLogic? Thank you in advance!
It is my pleasure, I really enjoy sharing these amazing instruments with all of you. Yes, in the video I am actually using an even older SL-880. I received the SL88 Grand in July and it has been an amazing keyboard controller.
The SL88 Grand uses solid wood keys with a nice textured keytop, not like the hard plastic keys on the SL88 Studio and even the Native Instruments controllers which use the same keybed as the SL88 Studio if I understand correctly.
The standout feature of the SL88 Grand is the touch. Using three sensors allows the SL88 Grand to have such a wide velocity dynamic range which allows you to really connect more with the piano libraries, I have been truly amazed.
Thanks so much for watching. All the best.
@@PraiseTracks Thank you very much for your kind answer. I will try little more to get use to the "stiffness" of the SL88 Grand keyboard... Unfortunately there are not so many good weigthed keyboard out there... Maybe a different (and more expensive choice) could be to go for a Yamaha P515 digital piano, that uses the NWX action with wooden keys. Did you ever try that kind of action? if yes, could you compare it to the Fatar TP40 wood installed in the Studiologic SL88 grand? TIA !
OK, so I misunderstood possibly your earlier comment. So you own an SL88 Grand? Yes, the keyboard was some getting used to from the SL-880 which used a plastic core keybed, while the SL88 Grand used a solid Wooden Core, that made a big difference in the overall weight for me.
I think the key texture is sort of grippy in that your fingers sort of grab on to it a little more.
A couple of great keyboard experiences was with a Roland VPiano I tried several years ago, and more recently around Christmas last year, I was able to play one of the Kawai digital pianos, and that keybed felt very nice, it also had the escapement which gave it an additional authentic vibe.
The SL 88 Grand however, I think is the most cost effective for the quality and features that you get, it is hard to beat.
@@PraiseTracks Yes I own an SL88 Grand but I am not totally happy because of the key resistance: in my opinion is a little too much compared to a good real acoustic piano ( = it tires my fingers ). The keytops of SL88 are too grippy to me: I own also a Kawai ES7 digital piano and I think the white-keys surface is very good (Ivory feel): yet, the keys are made of plastic and some of them became very noisy. I will try to get used to the SL88: at the moment I cannot see anything else that can get close to a real-piano keyboard without being an elephant ( as the Kawai VPC1 )... Thank you!
My pleasure, and thank you for the additional details as it just helps me make sure I have the most accurate picture. All the best. 😎
great
Thank you so much, so glad you enjoyed watching.
my goodness indeed
Thanks so much for watching. This was really a wonderful experience. All the best.
hello i'm interested to know how you can use the garritan for streamlive!
I use OBS Studio for all of my streaming along with OBS Live from StreamElements. OBS is a fantastic resource. One TH-camr who has a lot of great info on learning OBS is @EposVox, th-cam.com/users/eposvox
he has an entire video class on it. Also @nutty has a lot of good tips and tricks as well.
The main thing is you need a very fast computer and dedicated graphics card to do this well. I built a new system late last year. Not only does it need to be fast for music production but when you add the overhead of processing video things get a little more complicated.
You also need a good camera setup, which means some sort of capture card.
I hope that helps?
All the best.
Do you need an SSD drive in order to use VSL products
Yes, it is highly recommend at the least to use SSD, they recommend m.2 NVME drives for the best performance experience.

Thanks.
First of all, thank you so much to responding to all of my questions. You truly care about your audience and I appreciate it so much.
I think I’ve reached my breaking point. I’m just so frustrated right now. I can’t find a VST that I like the sound of. With Garritan I figured out the pops and cracks but no matter how many hours I spend editing I can’t get it to sound good, rich sound. All I want is clean and crisp audio like Francisco Parrino, Riyandi Kasuma, Rousseau, etc.

This sound so beautiful.
But I am just too lost in the world of piano VST and it is driving me to a certain point, that I almost feel like giving up….
And, that is when you know you are close to your breakthrough.
So much of this comes down to the final step where the sound enters your ears.
Are you monitoring with speakers or listening through earphones, and what does that audio signal chain look like.
I honestly need to go and find some of your earlier messages just to be sure I am pointing you in the right direction.
The number one thing I will tell you is, DON’T GIVE UP 🤓

I am using my devices speakers. When I use headphones, the audio sounds great.
And there is you answer. So to get a satisfying live sound you need the speakers that will support that dynamic frequency range. Speakers are just fancy air molecule air movers so they can only move the amount of air to the limits of their design.
So in that case all libraries no matter who has developed them will always sound lacking in those circumstances.
