I was confused by siblings thing, think maybe he struggles with emotional relationships and mistakes that for being due to no siblings and distant father, maybe? I really hope he manages to bond with his son as would be really wonderful for them both.
He's just immature and can't be bothered with the responsibility of a child. If he's not interested now he's not going to be interested. Poor kid
