Was at a technology demonstration where the ground mount for solar was on a powered retractable poles so a solar array could be retracted flat to the ground for high wind storms or bad weather. Was really neat. Simply a large RV slide screw jack with a small motor for each post.
@@clarencewiles963 very few inspectors are up to speed with the latest kind when it comes to solar. I have seen the inspectors which are state inspectors in Tennessee. Be up on the code and actually cite proper code violations.
This is exactly the type of system i've been thinking about for my home. For a turn key job, is it possible to give an estimated (ballpark) cost of a job like this? Thank you for posting this.
I'm in the middle of doing a job like this myself (for myself). Well, I'm doing as much of it as I can myself because the cost is INSANE! I'm having someone put the posts in and I'll have an electrician do the AC side.
My biggest question to outside mounted panels is mainly for hurricane or tornado prone area’s, how well would the panels hold up to high winds and harsh weather. I would think they might get damaged by wind and brush flying around. I have no experience but always wondered
Neat. Am installing 2 EG4 18K using 56 Aptos 370 nano bifacials ground mounted, using 6 EG4 power pro's. As a Ham operator I am installing this in a separate power house with a UFER singular ground. It also has Foil insulation all around it for EMI/RFI along with EMP shielding. A Faraday shield of the sort. This in hope to lower the noise that PWM inverters make. Will need some ferrite cores at certain connects to lower stray RF getting out through wiring. Do you know of anyone that has such a setup? Keep up the good work.
Just wondering why you install so many soft starts for thew air cond units? We in Australia have just about all of our air cond units big and small, using inverter technology and these work very well off grid. By the way, great work as usual.
Love the work you do I am adding my solar to my house Like to know what you think nothing like what you install big money. Running 2 EX4 6000xp with 900 amp hours of battery and 7200 watts of solar have another 5400 watts to install latter Have ran 100 amps to the house so I can add 2 more EC4 if needed. Going to run all my 110 and 2 mimi splints on this What do you think THANKS
8 awg. It keeps the voltage drop under 3% with 22 amp/320v range. If you don’t parallel at the array it cuts the amperage in half so you can get away with 10awg. This is based on 300’. Southwire has a good mobile voltage drop calculator available for free wherever you get your apps.
Code requires on new installs that there be a main disconnect outside in case of a fire so the fire dept can power down the house before entering, the main breaker can be used as the disconnect in a CSED, or just a main disconnect switch.

Hear a trough there a trough everywhere a trough trough. Anyway after that, I finally found a certified electrician that would travel to my remote off grid location to inspect my system. He pointed out I didn’t have that stupid useless ground running from my ground mounted panels on a steel rack concreted 48” in the GROUND! But I took the time to install it anyway since he told me that it wouldn’t pass my county’s inspection.

No link?
22 jobs pending, wow you guys are kicking butt!
Good to see you come out of the hurricane getting ahead.
As a vet, I can associate with the packing the ditch with my music on.
I called the other day. I need solar asap, too. Generac is screwing me over with a 24kw installation.

@@alexfoster6718 So true.
Incredible system!
Great work as always!
I hope the inspector lets yall slide on the clearance in front of the new outdoor panel.
Outdoor panel doesn't have proper clearances from the A/C condensers. It needs 36" in front and 30" width, unobstructed.
Do you ever get an inspection done and they’re not up on the technology?

Great job!! Glad to see ya!!
Have you done any solar mounts installs in crappy soil? I have rocky soil that's not far from shale bed rock.

I have no idea but my guess is $45k after the federal rebate

what gauge wire does that grounding wire has to be?

Looks good
In the carrier on the right an inverter unit? The green speed?
what were the make/model of the generators you went with? Any discount for getting ten of them?
in Washinton with a generator load shedder pain in the ass small house we did it gen would run the hole house ?
Hey can I give you call to help me figure out the inspection and utility meter stuff I got my solar done not sure that process very well

These aren't inverter units.

With battery backup would it be possible to downsize generator? If ues what is the most fuel efficient generator?
What gauge PV wire to run over 300’?

Halo I like your video's du use high voltage batteries at all
Yeah, exactly why we asked on your last video. Maybe, we can purchase from you... can you assist us with any questions we may have?
Quick question, if you have a 200a meter/main combo without an attached load center, do you still need the 200 fused/non fused disconnect switch?

I need panels and bats. I got an inverter. On a budget. Called 811 today to mark utilities.
great job
