Thank you for letting everyone else know about the band. i remember getting their first album after hearing one of the many mixed artists cds back in the late 90s. Those were the best marketing ideas, it opened my eyes to soo many bands that were just coming up in the punk scene
awesome video for new fans whos are completly clueless about wat old afi is. hey u forgot to add that davey joined son of sam right before sts. i love jade and geoff, mostly jade of course. now i have a cool video to show to people! thanx for posting!!
AFI and me through the ages: First heard them on the radio in San Francisco when the Art of Drowning had just come out. I found out my best friend was already obsessed with them and by the time I was going to school in Florida I bought up all their albums. I had an AFI shirt and I took it with me when I moved to Japan, but I accidentally left it at a restaurant in Hong Kong in 2004. Later that year I was in San Diego and caught their performance at Street Scene, epic mosh pit.
Very well done i really appriciated it because people dont realize how far they had really come, most people started hearing them from sing the sorrow which is just sad because there is just so much more to them. And davey havoc with the misfits hair was the best. I like their variety too cause it keeps it interesting... what will the next album bring old or new stuff? Its fun to see
i thought in 1998 mark was asked to leave the band so that jade could join, because he said he wouldn't until he finished college. don't know if that's correct, saw it somewhere on the internet... and there's an album in between sing the sorrow and decemberunderground, it's called AFI. it's just a bunch of their old songs thrown together, i think they were on tour or something... great video!!! i really love very proud of ya, that's a great album. i like them all, really :). thanks!
Great vid, thanks for making it and sharing. I love every AFI album, ive got em all so im no 'I wish AFI never changed' or 'Hooray,! Decumberunderground' person. Out of interest, what is your favourite AFI album/song? 13
to play every now and then... daves step dad(paul) actually played a lot in recording old afi songs... jade the playah puget played a lot with them too but had his own band going... later wanted in afi because of the disbondment of redemption 87 and his cancelled role in minor threat and loose change... i see a lot of thing in comments that say otherwise and i see it all the time... i kinda find it funny, really... but trust me on this one guys... i know hahaha
Great video...but u have 4gotten to talk about Weight of Words (b-side of sing the sorrow), Demos and raties, and the Extra albums ;) They re great too
I know they have 7 albums. I've been listening to them since the beginning. I'm 32. Unfortunetly, their last great album was Art of Drowning. Now, only little screaming girls that love to shop at Hot Topic plague their shows. UGH!
i think its funny how everyone construes information with afi... afi started in 1991... and when they broke up in 1993 only to rejoin while playing a venue by the name of the phoenix in the bay areain late december(hence the song days of the phoenix... also the title of the new lp decemberunderground... due to it being the underground they were in) durring this break up period, dave and adam decided to recreate(will continue in new comment)
all hallows was after black sails, and it would be cool if you included stuff from the early 7" like dork to show that they've been around since before 95 actually
man, what happened to them? their first albums were so great and then all of a sudden they went from punk to emo. it's pretty sad. they were an amazing punk band.
I guess I'm fairly new to AFI, since I've only known about them since summer '06, and it was through Decemberunderground... but I don't even like their new sound. I like songs like "Smile," "The Last Kiss," and "6 to 8."
how do you know jade played in minor threat, it doesn't say anything about jade as a former member in wikipedia, and none of the songs sounds like jades style
afi with a new name... being a fire inside... as apposed to asking for it which they once were... vic(original bassist) then left the band to only be replaced by geoff... geoff left tiger army years ago and now is in a band called viva hate... he left afi cuz he wants to only play punk and no proto punk styles whatsoever... mark stopheles(blackwelder) the guitarist didnt want to be in afi, however he decided (continued in new comment)
its better than december underground imo. that was prolly my least favorite album. answer that and stay fashionable is the best, i fuckin love that album.
Really? Because you're the musical expert that deems them "dead?" Who are you to tell other people who enjoy AFI that they're wrong for liking AFI's old stuff?
Ive just slowly stopped listening to them. Will always lover their older stuff through Art of Drowning and even like Sing the Sorrow. But thats where he started going Ohhhhaaaa in every other song and it just ruins it and sounds...well....girly as hell.

This is awesome. Thanks for posting.
Hehe and 1999-2003 is my favourite I think
But lately Answer That and VPoY are really growing on me :D
Glad to see a REAL AFI fan making videos.
i thought in 1998 mark was asked to leave the band so that jade could join, because he said he wouldn't until he finished college. don't know if that's correct, saw it somewhere on the internet... and there's an album in between sing the sorrow and decemberunderground, it's called AFI. it's just a bunch of their old songs thrown together, i think they were on tour or something... great video!!! i really love very proud of ya, that's a great album. i like them all, really :). thanks!
awesome video, thanks for posting :)
concratulations!!!! you made an exelent video!!!!! (:
I also knew, and also enjoyed.
Yay me!
Good video, although I don't know any AFI fans that couldn't tell you all or most of that.
Well, you can't get any better than "Art of Drowning"!
"Endlessly, She Said"
Great vid, thanks for making it and sharing. I love every AFI album, ive got em all so im no 'I wish AFI never changed' or 'Hooray,! Decumberunderground' person.
Out of interest, what is your favourite AFI album/song?

great video
really really i love u!!!!!!
I completely agree.
to play every now and then... daves step dad(paul) actually played a lot in recording old afi songs... jade the playah puget played a lot with them too but had his own band going... later wanted in afi because of the disbondment of redemption 87 and his cancelled role in minor threat and loose change... i see a lot of thing in comments that say otherwise and i see it all the time... i kinda find it funny, really... but trust me on this one guys... i know hahaha
I understand that this was made in 2007. Year after decemberunderground. Imma huge AFI fan.
i listen to Black Sails religiously
I think this is what he meant:
"answer that..." came out before "very proud of ya" they re-released it in 96...
haha
Great video...but u have 4gotten to talk about Weight of Words (b-side of sing the sorrow), Demos and raties, and the Extra albums ;) They re great too

Coool...

they started in 94 as a garage band ^.^
1997 to 2000
AFI's prime
IMHO
"very proud of ya" came out before "answer that and stay fashionable"......they re-released it in 96'..........
no, it was released in 95 on wignut. the Re-release came out in 97!
all hallows was after black sails, and it would be cool if you included stuff from the early 7" like dork to show that they've been around since before 95 actually
@BeastOrFail12 oh yeah lol their first cd started production in 94
check their discography. Answer that and stay fashionable was their first full legnth studio album
man, what happened to them? their first albums were so great and then all of a sudden they went from punk to emo. it's pretty sad. they were an amazing punk band.
i'm almost positive Geoff played all the way up until Black Sails, where he was replaced with Hunter
I guess I'm fairly new to AFI, since I've only known about them since summer '06, and it was through Decemberunderground... but I don't even like their new sound. I like songs like "Smile," "The Last Kiss," and "6 to 8."
Now you have to do a new one with CRASH LOVE :D
dude put in Crash Love
BSITS came out before All Hallows EP
So it goes from hardcore to pop soft. I'd probably listen to the old stuff for like 3 songs and then listen to a new song.
@A7Xile It's 'Totalimmortal'
What performance is the footage from at 3:15?
Duelly noted, but for the most part, it's just a fad for most screaming girls. More often than not.
that song is God Called in Sick Today.
They arent emo, they just changed their sound. And they are all great albums, and I should know cause I have them all.
how do you know jade played in minor threat, it doesn't say anything about jade as a former member in wikipedia, and none of the songs sounds like jades style
what's the song from 1:29 ?
afi with a new name... being a fire inside... as apposed to asking for it which they once were... vic(original bassist) then left the band to only be replaced by geoff... geoff left tiger army years ago and now is in a band called viva hate... he left afi cuz he wants to only play punk and no proto punk styles whatsoever... mark stopheles(blackwelder) the guitarist didnt want to be in afi, however he decided (continued in new comment)
What's the song from 1:30 to 2:01?
3.45-4.30 that's this song?
its 8 now
no they released 14 albums
u need to add crash love
afi died after art of drowning.
are most you kids serious? the band has passed their prime before even knew they existed.
its better than december underground imo. that was prolly my least favorite album. answer that and stay fashionable is the best, i fuckin love that album.
no they are still good, though AFI were at their best from 98-02
Ummm, AFI started in 1991..
from punk to emo
Really? Because you're the musical expert that deems them "dead?" Who are you to tell other people who enjoy AFI that they're wrong for liking AFI's old stuff?
xDD
Yes, God forbid they do something different. They would only suck if they made music to please an outdated expectation from a bunch of scene elitists.
Ive just slowly stopped listening to them. Will always lover their older stuff through Art of Drowning and even like Sing the Sorrow. But thats where he started going Ohhhhaaaa in every other song and it just ruins it and sounds...well....girly as hell.
