Well ... I'm older and I remember designer fragrances around $40 - $50 back in the day. No clones usually a Mans and a Womans version ... Mens were cologne womens were perfume. They all were strong ... they all lasted all day ... some even more so. Times have changed.

I'm an old guy also.Been collecting for over forty years. Now I have some old school colognes still that I will still wear. My all time favorite is Santos De Cartier eau concentree'. It's the best smelling classy fragrance that's not far out of date for today. Alfred Sung Homme. great cheapie but now you have to look for the purple juice bottles, made in Canada by Riviera concepts, because they've reformulated it and watered it down. Giorgio Of Beverly Hills,I bought it when it was first released at Neiman Marcus. And the newer reformulation is still pretty good even though the real oakmoss density is lacking. Aramis Havana and Tuscany. The new versions aren't that bad. I still have a small travel splash bottle of Kouros, late 80's formula. One drop on each wrist can fill a room.

I believe the way all fragrances are priced now compared to 20-30 years ago isn't just inflation but its also in part reformulation which may be a cheaper way to produce an OG bottle but ultimately that means it won't be as potent & long lasting, hence the reason we've got loads of other Flankers which have continued to increase in pricing particularly ingredients in fragrances such as naturals such as Vanilla Absolute and Jasmine Sambac, all this is a way for fragrance houses to get round the inflationary issues whilst still drawing in as much buyers as well as continuing to increase their profit margins.
Many clone fragrances based on designer house fragrances prove that it's possible to make good perfume at reasonabe costs to the buyer with a cut for the maker/perfumer.
Behold the capitalist west at its best...

200 dollars for a designer fragrance is absurd! I'm not sure if its inflation or the company just taking advantage of the market? Either way its uncalled for.

Agreed. But for brands like Chanel, retail is virtually unavoidable. I’m in Australia and I’ve never seen Bleu de Chanel at discounters. I have all three in the line now, and the most expensive one was the Parfum which cost me $232 for 100ml.

    Hey!
It's not "Aye la extrehm". It's "ah lex-trehm".
The 'a' is separate and is therefore pronounced separately. And 'a' in French is 'ah'. 'l'extreme' is sort of one word, 2 syllables: "lex-trehm".
Why not try to articulate the French th way French is supposed to be articulated? Have Google translate whisper it to you!

In regard to the perfume raffle you ran yesterday. How do we ascertain that the draw was transparent. You should have gone live on TH-cam or instagram to do the draw. What’s to say you didn’t pick a friend or family?
I really shouldn’t have bought 150 tickets if i knew this wasn’t going to happen the right way. Can’t say that I am satisfied or a tad bit happy with your methods. It’s very shady. I’m out.
