This is my favourite film of all time, I've watched it over 100 times, I own every possible Merch (minus the figurines) possible to buy. It's a shame how, shadowed this work is. It's honestly, to me, a masterpiece. Maybe I'm biased because it's my comfort film, but it's pulled me through life, it's gotten me through some dark times. I once watched it every day for a week straight because the comfort it brought me during dark times was wonderful. It's a beautiful film, I wish it was more loved in the anime community. It's a reminder that no matter where life takes you, there's a way out, there will be good times, there is a light at the end of the tunnel ❤❤❤
I love this video essay for giving this movie the love it deserves!!

I watched this film not so long ago, and it is one of the best films that I have ever watched; the animation is breathtaking and I love how the details and animation make the world feel alive; the story is one of the best tales about motherhood that I have ever seen, a true love tale on how much a mother will sacrifice for their children.
It would be, at least for me, a masterpiece of a film if there wasn't for the ending, as in the end we see both Yuki and Ame rejecting one side of what they really are, with Yuki rejecting her wolf side and Ame rejecting his human side, which is not only a bad idea overall, but also contradicts the beginning of the film, when we are shown how Hana accepts the father for what he really is. Also I don't like the last scene, as it shows Hana as purposeless, witch hurts the motherhood story we have seen through the film, a better take would be both Yuki and Ame visiting her, as a way to show that they still have a relationship, it is just that they are no longer children.
