Anyone have any suggestions What I’m looking for is a small study bible small like those little New Testament ones but full bible and study bible witch is hard to find a lot of the small ones I find are not study bibles I check one of these out I have a nice study bible but I want a small one that’s not big and bulky or paper covers cus I seem to wear the covers out quickly I’m a musician and I play in a Christian band and I want one I can carry to gigs with me ( FYI in case anyone wants to know my band is called Gospel PeaceMakers we’re Christian country)
I’ve compared the compact Maclaren to other KNJV small bibles and found the NKJV Sovereign to be the best in text size, references, translation notes and even book introductions for it’s size. I don’t think it was out yet when you made this video.
You're correct, it wasn't available at the time. The Sovereign is excellent. It's one of my favorites. Here's my review: th-cam.com/video/R-kFYkHpIUw/w-d-xo.html
Would you rather use and carry the Pitt or the Compact MacLaren? While the Pitt is assuredly of greater quality, is there a great gulf in quality with the genuine leather edition? Would you say the leather on the genuine leather edition is the same as on the Single Column Compact Reference, or better or worse? Appreciate both the review and comparisons, God bless.
Hi Simon. The leather is the same as the Compact Single Column Reference. There isn't a great gulf in quality between the genuine leather Maclaren and the Pitt Minion. The PM's leather is a touch softer and the paper is more elegant. I'd put it maybe one notch above in quality. It's hard for me to choose between them. I prefer thin Bibles, but I like the extra space in the text of the Compact Maclaren.
Do you find the maclaren compact much harder to read than the compact large print? I’m asking because I am in the market for a compact bible. I already own the sovereign edition of KJV and am ordering one of the NKJV I want a smaller one for work.
They've actually made that connection. When Zondervan acquired the rights to the Thompson Chain Reference Bible, they also acquired the contract to publish the TCR in ESV. I don't know where they can go from here, but it's very possible that Zondervan, and maybe TN, can publish more editions in the ESV. The more people ask for them the more likely that is to happen.

nkjv compact maclaren have all the listed textual variant in the notes?
Would like to see the compact MacLaren in goatskin. I’m thinking that would make it less stiff similar to the PSQ

Yes, the compact large print is a much better choice for reading.
You know, I think my top wish in the Bible publishing world is that Zondervan/Nelson would publish ESV. Is the problem w Crossway or Z/N?
