New here?
HI & WELCOME!!! I'm Rachel and I like testing things... whether it's viral recipes, Tiktok hacks or Amazon kitchen gadgets ... they get me every time. My husband, sister & sisters in law often makes appearances to share their thoughts and taste test and yes they basically all live here lol. I have 3 kiddos, a big extended family and an obsession with chocolate chip cookies - come hang out with us every Saturday: / rachhloveslife

Not that I don’t trust Rachel’s take on how these recipes taste .. it’s just Chris’s pov adds so much validation to my attempt at trying these recipes 😂
About cloud eggs - you should season the whites. I do it with salt, pepper, parmezan and chives. And they are awesome. Add everything before whisking.
We also leave the yoke out until the last 5 minutes (runnier yoke!) and often sprinkle bacon crumbles and more parm on top.
My vote for a name would be Sir Mix-a-Lot
This is so clever and funny!!😄😂🫶
Yes❤❤❤❤❤😂😂😂
Yess
I think you should name your hand mixer Swirly Shirley! 😂🤣😂🤣
Yes that's iconic!! 🏆
If you crack your eggs on a flat surface (counter instead of side of bowl) the shells should be less jagged and you’ll be less likely to break the yolk after separating.
I have tried that so often but whenever I do it the crack goes lengthwise so I end up going back to the against the bowl method
To clarify, your eggs split long ways, like hot dog style when you crack them? Lengthwise??
@@Ella1297 the crack goes top to bottom of the egg 🥚 (not fully though) when I tap the centre of the egg on the table it kinda acknowledged the fact I hit the egg in the centre and then the crack travels from the centre to the top of the egg
I find it difficult to open the egg when this happens as basically it kinda opens a weird corner???
It's awkward and awful and still leads to shell in the batter so I went back to the side bowl as at least the crack is along the belly of the egg
@@louise102ndthat’s so strange…I’ve never had an egg do that before while cracking it on the counter or cutting board. What kind of eggs are they? Maybe it’s the size of them and that’s why they crack in a strange way?
@@dkippy08 medium or large happens to both I'm in Ireland so they're the unwashed EU brown eggs
I use my nutri bullet to blend 1 cup of cottage cheese, 1 egg and some s&p. The pour/spread out on parchment and bake at 350. Delish!!
How long do you bake it for?
@@Alexhaskins The one that I saw said 25 min, if thicker than longer. It supposed to have golden brown top.
P.S. If you love cheese a lot, you can add cheese into the mix
@@Alexhaskins about 30 mins. Keep an eye on it. Let it cool before removing parchment.
Add a bit of shredded cheese and 1-2 spoons of rice flour. Fry them like pancakes or bake. If you substitute s&p with sugar, fry them and serve with jam, fruits or condensed milk, then you get syrniky - one of the most delicious Russian breakfasts
My favorite summer recipe is my famous fruit salad. In a large bowl I melon ball a cantaloupe & a honeydew melon, add halved strawberries, whole red grapes, and cut up kiwi. Toss with a drizzle of honey and finely chopped fresh mint. So delicious, the mint is refreshing in the summer with the fruit and the colors are beautiful 🍇🍓🥝
I bet the Melon balls make it pretty. I could probably do it with just the chunks and it would still be tasty huh?
Have u tried any lime juice? Does the honey spread out ? I guess the water in the melon helps it spread out. This sounds so tasty
At girl scout camp we used to sandwich the toasted marshmallows between thin mints. So messy but sooo delicious!
This is genius
OMG THAT SOUNDS SOOOO GOOD!!! 😱😱😱❤
bliss filled diabetic coma would be worth it!
I thought I was alone in not liking oreo filling! I prefer the oreo thins because it's the smallest amount of filling. 😂
I too am in that boat. I tried getting into the thins because they technically should have the least amount of filling, but I now stick to the originals because I think the thicker cookie masks the cream better, and you get more for the same price
I agree. I can’t stand the Double Stuf!! Ick.
I was starting to feel like I was the only one who preferred the Oreo cookie and wasn't really a fan of the inside!
I mean, the inside is basically vegetable shortening and sugar - its a little gross
Me too! The cream is so… waxy. It coats my tongue and I hate that!
I love the Oreo without the filling. If I had to have the filling I would want the filling from Oreo Thins with the regular cookies. I hate that the Thins don't change the ratio at all. I really wish we could buy them alone as well!
@@sarahkwast1250 omg yes! I've thought this so many times!
I’m with you. The double stuff Oreos are a travesty.
Rach!! You should totally do a S'mores Battle by remaking and comparing all the s'mores recipes you've tested so far against each other
Cottage cheese queso. Blend it so it is smooth, add spices, add shredded melty cheese, then microwave it for 30-40 seconds stirring half way thru. Then dip tortilla chips or veggie sticks.
what spices and which melty cheese?
@@kindredanastasia I often use the Trader Joe's chili lime seasoning, but a taco seasoning would work, or a bit of chili powder, garlic powder and cumin. If you like it spicy add a jalapeno or a pinch of cayenne powder. Re: the cheese cheddar, Monterey jack/pepper jack or mozzarella work well. It's mostly for texture to give the queso some cheese pull.
Also really good if you add Buffalo sauce for a more nutritious Buffalo dip, you can add rotisserie chicken too!
I live in a nursing home and we are often looking for ideas like the Oreo Smores that we can make in our cooking club, and this looks like it will be a favorite! Thank you very much for all your fun video.
I started making a cottage cheese dip recently that is amazing, I have always loathed cottage cheese because of the lumps, but you blend them out. The recipe is 300g of cottage cheese, 100g of sun blush tomatoes (these are semi dried tomatoes, you usually find them in the deli section of the grocery store) 1 tablespoon of olive oil & 1 clove of garlic. Put them all in a high sided bowl or pot & blitz until smooth and creamy. I add a little salt & pepper and serve with crudités or plain tortilla chips. Enjoy xxx
THAT sounds really good! I detest the consistency as well but I don't mind the taste so I will give it a try! Thanks!
@@laurieann2714 I hope you like it. ☺️
Can you please give the recipe of the chili hunny sauce you put on the eggs. 🙏
Butter, honey, chilli flake, garlic... google for proportions I guess?
I came to ask the same thing @milly!!
@@EmilyGOODEN0UGH I looked everywhere and cannot find it. No such luck for just those ingredients without it being was too spicy, more often it omits an ingredient.
Try Banana iced coffee
Just blend a banana with a bit of milk enough to make kind of a creamer texture Filter the mixture in a sifter to avoid pulp from the banana then pour into cold brew coffee & ice 🧊☕️🍌
This is soooo good!
My husband and I love watching your videos on Saturday morning, thanks for always making our day better!
Watermelon salad! Big bowl of cubed Watermelon. Top with crumbled feta cheese. Salt. Pepper. And thinly sliced fresh basil leaves 🍃 😋
This, but with a drizzle of a balsamic reduction.
Love this sooo good
I enjoy your videos especially when Chris comes and saves the day.
I love summer cooking because I can use things from my garden. My favorite being Korean scallion pancakes!! I grow scallions and it’s my favorite thing to make with them!
yummm recipe please!
Two recipes for you! Easy desserts!
Ice cream sandwich cake- layer ice cream sandwiches with cool whip or whipped cream, caramel, and chocolate and some toffee pieces.
Eclair cake- graham crackers layered with vanilla pudding made with half milk and half whipped cream folded in. Once you get to your third layer or so, pour a container of melted chocolate icing on top. Let sit in the fridge overnight 😊
I'm folding laundry as I watch this video 🥰 I think the cloud eggs would be good on toast with avocado 👌
I had the same thought!
Blend cottage cheese with an egg to make the bread. Lots of recipes out there. Egg holds it together and no curd separation. Sprinkle with everything but the bagel 😋
Interesting! I got to try this
I love cottage cheese & I haven’t tried this yet, but….maybe for people who have a problem w/ the texture, u can whip it so it’s nice & smooth, & it can be used in many different recipes. Will u give it a shot Rachel? Love your vids btw! 💕
Girl ! You & Shane are the only videos I look forward to every single week!
Thank you for your videos Rachel! You. Are. A. Queen. ❤️
My fav snack that’s perfect for summer is dill pickle chips with tajin and lemon pepper sprinkled on it so good
I'm with you on the Oreos! Oreo Thins are the ones I like best for that same reason.😂💙
I agree. I hate the cream filling in an Oreo. I just like the cookie part.
One of my favorite snacks is salsa and cottage cheese (NOT mixed together) with tortilla chips. I also like Wendy’s chili with a side of cottage cheese and tortilla chips. Or mashed avocado with a squeeze of lime with a side of cottage cheese and tortilla chips… I apparently like cottage cheese with tortilla chips. lol!
I love tortilla chips with salsa & hummus! Definitely reccomend you try it😊
Ciboulette
@@Lori135xx oooh! Thank you! I’ll definitely try that!!!
I love saving Saturdays video till that night and get to eat my dinner with you. 🥰🤩😘
Sardine sandwiches are great for summer and its supper easy too
I use a baguette or something with a crisp crust, spicy sardines, arugla and onions dressed in olive oil balsamic viniger salt and pepper, and i add red radishes at the end , have it with icy lemonade, amazing !
I love making the strawberry cream cheese and marshmallow fluff dip with fruit on the side! Is it healthy? No. Delicious? Yes!
Rachel, I ABSOLUTELY put on playlists of my favorite creators and go about my day. And in case you were wondering, you are my go to "organizing my things" creator AND one of my go to "I'm not feeling good and I want to drift in and out of consciousness on the couch all day" creators. Like a modern day Price is Right or Mr. Rogers. 😅🥰
If Chris prefers original smores, he should try using the golden oreos
My favorite day of the week for this reason! I look forward to your Saturday videos all week long (love your Thursday videos too, but these are my favorite). Thanks for always providing such great entertainment! 💕
Love the lights in the background. They look look really good.
I watch these videos so much with and without my daughter she always gets happy when she hears you two lol
Omg grilled watermellon with honney omg my mouth is watering just thinking of it
My family loves to make pole pies in the summer ❤ It's biscuit, pudding and whip cream! Don't knock it till you try it!!
9:24 My dad and I always love to try making marshmallows from scratch in summer😊 we’ve only perfected it once😅😂 PS love your videos form NZ ❤
I’m not an Oreo cream fan. Most of the time I remove it and just eat the cookie part. Occasionally I’ll have it if I’m dipping Oreos into peanut butter, it so good and dilutes the sweetness of the filling. 😋
Hansel is a good name for the hand mixer. Also have you made the lemon mousse dessert, it's 3 lemons with the inside scooped out saving the outside to fill with mixture to create little bowls and using cream and condensed milk and the lemon juice. Raphael Gomes made this on a 3 ingredient video and it looked great. Anyway mix those 3 ingredients and put inside lemon "shells" and put in fridge for 2 or 3 hours. 200 milliliters of cream one can of condensed milk oh and blend the inside of lemons until it's a juicy pulpy mix and strain into the other 2 ingredients and blend it together or use a hand mixer. Hope you make it and like it
One of my favourite summer recipes is diced watermelon with crumbled goatfeta and fresh chopped mintleaves.
You can upgrade your omelet by putting butter in the pan, then putting shredded cheese over the surface of the pan, until it has melted. Then you pour over the egg-mix and let them cook. You can add filling at the end.
You end up with crisp cheese on the outside of the omelet 🥳
I’ve had the Oleato from Starbucks quite a few times and really enjoyed it. I think you have to go with a smooth and mild olive oil so it doesn’t overpower the coffee or milk.
Yes!! Just the Oreo cookie! Oreo Thins are my favorite bc it’s less filling. But they should make a zero stuff Oreo where it’s just cookie. I would bye that.
My favourite summer recipe is Blueberry Grunt lol I’m from Nova Scotia and I think it’s an East Coast thing. Here’s my mom’s recipe:
Sauce:
- 4 cups blueberries fresh or frozen
- 1/2 tsp nutmeg
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
- 1/2 cup water
Dumplings:
- 2 cups flour
- 4 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp butter or shortening
- enough milk to bring it together
Instructions:
Heat berries, sugar, spices, lemon juice, and water in a large saucepan, boil gently until well blended and slightly cooked down.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar into a bowl. Cut in the butter and add enough milk to make a soft slightly wet biscuit dough. Cover pan tightly with a lid and simmer for 15 minutes (no peeking).
The dumplings should be puffed and cooked through when done. Serve with fresh whipped cream!
Thanks for writing this out! I’m going to make a gluten free version!
I like to do lentil salad in the summer. It’s super adaptable so it’s great for using up ingredients. I do lentils, chickpeas, carrots, cucumber, black and green olives, artichoke hearts, grape tomatoes, feta, fresh basil, olive oil, pepper, cumin, cayenne, lemon juice. Nice and summery and can be made ahead.
Just watched this on my TV and when I got to the end, I heard you mention putting on playlists and doing laundry while watching... I was folding pants just as you said that. 😂
I can't wait to try those "s'moreos"! They look yummy! 💜
Love your videos so much Rachel, started watching on Monday and I have been binge watching all your recipe videos, I have so many new recipes I want to try!❤
I want to put that cloud egg on top of my avocado toast tomorrow morning! It looks delicious and a fun variation.
I like the cookie filling combination. Cookie on it own is OK, filling on its own is not good to me but both combined...Amazing!
😂😂 literally folding laundry whilst watching your video and you said it
100% giving a few of these recipes a try 🥰
the oreo smores is such a great idea, how have we never thought of this? I also thought of another way to level it up.. do not cook the marshmallow, just assemble the oreos with the goodies in the middle like you would for a smore.. then batter and deep fry them for deep fried oreo smores! omg that sounds amazing
I love the cookie part best as well! But thats why i like dark chocolate oreos, the frosting tastes just like the cookie!!
My fav summer salad is romaine, feta cheese, strawberries, mandarin oranges, red grapes, and pecans, with a raspberry vinaigrette dressing. You can also add grilled chicken, but I like it without. I could honestly eat this for every meal and never get tired of it. So good and so easy!
That sounds so good , these comments are making me hungrier than the video 😂
In the US, we have Oreo ice cream cones. That would allow the experience of the ice cream cone s'mores with the flavor of the Oreo cookie, and it eliminates the icing.
Fun video! I love the sounds of the chili oil!!
I have a gooood TikTok one to try! Miracle Oreo cake - kids love making this. It’s my friend’s grandson’s “signature” cake. Blitz 28 - a bag - of traditional Oreos, mix in 1cup of milk & a teaspoon of baking powder. Bake in a parchment lined small loaf tin about 20-25 mins. Set a bar of milk chocolate on top when set. Put it back in a warm oven until the choc. melts. Spread chocolate smooth. Lift it out and eat! It’s like the old timey Easy Bake oven cakes only better! Fun for kids to make. I’ve also made it with vanilla Oreos and a rose gold choc. bar. Maybe it will change your mind about Oreos🤷♀️❤️
350 Degrees I forgot to add!
You should try a whole video of weird ice cream toppings including Worcestershire sauce
20:02 did you try the one where you roast the marshmallows and put that and chocolate in the snak bags that are oreo, nutter butter, nilla wafers, or the mini cookies
I agree! I don't hate the filling in an oreo but I prefer the cookies!
Im gonna miss your videos for the next month or so! I gotta make a stock pile to watch with my husband when he returns from deployment. But just know, I’m still gonna click the video & notifications when they come through.
Can’t wait to actually watch these in the future!
You need to try Salty Dogs. It’s s’mores , but using saltines, caramels and toasted marshmallows. I was introduced to them at Girl Scout camp 50 years ago. So good!
My favorite summer salad is chicken salad with grapes. Use a good, well seasoned roasted chicken. Cut the chicken in chunks and mix it with chopped celery, a bit of chopped onion (I like red), grapes (cut in half) and mayonnaise. You can eat it alone, as a sandwich or on a bed of butter lettuce leaves like a lettuce wrap. It’s so good! Even better if you make it the night before and let the flavors meld.
I love grapes in my chicken salad, but I also add apples 🍏. I’m not a huge fan of celery so I usually add the apple in place of celery.
Can you do a video making Claire Saffitz croissants please? Tiring to get the courage to attempt it because I'm new at working with dough.
Blending cottage cheese would take care of the texture situation.
I like ‘salsa salads’ where it can be prepped in bulk and used as a snack or meal
Would love for you to do a video of YOUR favorites recipes as opposed to viral ones!!! Love your videos!
We did the waffle cone smores with our daughters girl scout troop, it is the best way lol . Thanks for some new ideas to try .
I also like the Oreo cookie more than the icing!! I’d love to see you make a protein Mac and cheese - recipes usually use a cottage cheese base. I’ve wanted to try it.
Summer recipe. 1 package soften cream cheese, 1/2 cup mayo, 1 package of dry zesty Italian dressing mix. Mix together and spread on sliced French bread or baguette, top with cucumber slices and dill. Delicious and simple
For the smore try using Keebler fudge stripe cookies. Place the marshmallow on the fudge covered bottom after making them golden brown and delicious. Cover with second cookie. No need for extra chocolate.
I always scrap off my Oreo filling. So happy that I’m not the only one. ❤
I don't know if you and Chris have tried it, but coffee lemonade is surprisingly amazing! It's so nice and refreshing for summer 🌞
Hot drip coffee, espresso, or cold brew to mix with lemonade?
@@Ella1297 I usually use instant or drip that I have cooled down to with ice
I increase protein by using cottage cheese to make little egg muffins - 300g cottage cheese and 4 eggs blended up and then add whatever flavour/fillings you want. Fill a muffin tin and bake at 180°C for 15 mins 😊😊
I would eat the smore-ios! One recipe I love in summer is potato salad with dill, hard boiled eggs, sauteed red onions....oooh so good!
Our family makes s'mores with chocolate chip cookies. Soooo good! Especially the soft chewy ones from chips ahoy...😊
The "strange" things that I really like on vanilla ice cream is, soy sauce! I saw it on TH-cam, and it's actually really good! It tastes like salted caramel. I have learned that there are different strengths of soy sauce, so start with just a bit at a time, but when the ice cream is about the color of caramel, it's probably good. 😊
I need the recipe for the butter honey chili flake garlic sauce please! It sounds amazing!
Have you made the Korean Hwache fruit soup?? Just made some and it’s soooo delicious and refreshing!❤
I prefer the cookie too, that is why I love the Oreo Thins. My family loves the icing and goes for the double stuffed.
This is my favorite series that you do.
Pasta salad!! So summery & I love it
Your just like me with the Oreo's...hate the cream absolutely love the cookie ❤😂
I’m was laughing so much with your coffee connoisseur phrase! 😂😂😂 but you are! I would not like olive oil in coffee either lol! Never hurts to try new things just in case!
My favorite summer smoothie and way to use cottage cheese is a Strawberry “Cheesecake” smoothie. You just use frozen strawberries, cottage cheese and milk of choice or vanilla protein drink. The cottage cheese mimics the tart taste of cream cheese but is healthier with more protein
I buy the store brand of the iced oatmeal cookies that are pretty crunchy & the icing is super thin & also crunchy. You can get them plain. There’s also coconut ones. Anyway. They come in a sleeve for maybe $2.00 usd. I grab a package of those and a pint of good quality ice cream. The first time I made them I used hagan Daz Peach ice cream. I’ve since used vanilla, coffee, whatever looks good. Set the ice cream on the counter while Lining a cookie sheet with those cookies, topside down. Scoop the just softened ice cream onto each bottom side of the cookie. Then top with another cookie and squish them together a bit. Repeat until you’ve used the sleeve of cookies. I wrap them each in plastic wrap and put them into the freezer. After a day or so, the cookie gets softer (not soggy) and they are so good. It really stretches a buck and you can customize them with different flavor combos. No one has to turn on the stovetop or oven.
Have you ever used the fudge stripe cookies for your smores? We always did that growing up and it’s the best!
Have not tried making it myself yet, but I love the Oleato at Starbucks! My new favorite. Never imagined I would like olive oil with my coffee so much.
Can we have the recipe for the chili honey oil? It looks amazing!
Yes, recipe, please
Whipped cottage cheese is a delicious way to eat it. I make mine into parfaits and I feel like the texture is so different.
In the summer I eat a lot of a "salad" that's made of diced tomatoes (chunky dice), half a shallot or a small onion cut up however I feel like, some sour cream (12% fat or 18%,depends what I have in the fridge), salt and pepper. Eat with a buttered roll 😋😋😋😋
Not me literally doing my laundry while watching this 👀😂 22:16
My summer must have in Chinese cuisine is pulled chicken dry noodles, which is simply blanched pulled chicken breasts, extra thin julienne cucumbers, cooked noodle of choice, sesame butter (substitute with peanut butter 👌) mixed throughly with water to form a sauce, chilli oil, soy sauce to your taste, and other condiments (vine pepper oil, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, extra hot chilli oil, garlic powder, idk maybe ketchup😂). It’s just the representation of summer❤
I had literally the exact same reaction to the olive oil coffee. It's very moreish. A dash of toffee syrup with this is dope
I love adding bacon, cheese, and chives into my cloud eggs. So yummy 😋
That bread works so much better if you blend the cottage cheese first then spread it on the parchment paper. I make cottage cheese flatbread that way and it's really good :)
Have you tried s'mores with chocolate chip cookies? So good. The chocolate is in the cookies and gets melty again when you put the roasted marshmallow between the cookies.
Rach, "I like coffee" - NO WAY, I HAD NOOOO IDEA LOL
I love cottage cheese, but I also use protein powder in my pancake batter and I make protein balls that taste really good. Mine has peanut butter in it, but you can use any type of nut butter or nut-free substitutes
Love your videos!! Also, Starbucks Oleato Golden Foam Iced Shaken Espresso with Toffeenut is super good!!
Love these videos. Have tried a few recipes. You need to try the dill pickle salad. So good!
