One of the things I wanted to add, When someone is going to setup a Zoom camera is to have the camera setup in the area they want to View at the Fully Zoomed in state. This will insure that they camera is going to be pointed at the area of interest when the camera is zoomed in. One of the biggest issues I have found is that someone don't like they can't treat the Zoom camera as a PTZ and that is because the camera only zooms it don't pan or tilt to get in that fine detail in a little different area of view.. So lets say that you want to see something at 100 feet away, if the camera is zoomed out and installed, lets say there is some tree or shrubs and you want a better view right over the top of the shrubs if the camera wasn't zoomed in and setup in place when you do zoom in you might be looking at the center of the shrub or just out of Frame of what you really want a closer view of... I personally have a lot of Motorized zoom and manual VF lens cameras. My main setup of cameras is PTZ because of the best Range of View.. 4mm or 2.6mm and even the 3.6mm normal camera range just isn't good enough for most home installs and one of the issues that some people have because the ROI or Area of View is outside of the cameras true (wanted) view point. What is important is that people also look at the Dori for the camera and see if it will fit the needs of the space to be installed.. Trying to setup a camera to ID someone 60 feet away when the cameras ID says it will work at 20 that isn't a camera that will work as wanted.. Detection at 300' (Feet) away is great just make sure there is enough cameras or something that can help ID a subject much sooner. IF your system works well it should detour the wrong doer into moving on to another home and leave yours alone. IF they just want what you have anyway Make sure more then 1 camera can get a look at the person in more then 1 ID range for best results for sure at night... Also a Cameras White Wash of IR is either the camera wasn't setup in Smart IR or the cameras settings are out of adjustments because most good cameras are setup to change View for light flooding the scene to protect the cameras ROI or Viewing area... I have had some cameras in past that IR blast with no change at night for Flooding these cameras don't make it much or long in my Camera setup...
