When I was a boy, I used to able to close my eyes and listen to Bill who described the action so vividly, I could picture absolutely everything that was going on. He was the absolute best, although Danny’s Gallivan and the great Dan Kelly weren’t far behind…
My pick for best ever Play By Play Announcer is Bill Hewitt, always on top of the play, always had s real excited edge to his voice and his "he takes a shot he shoots he SCORES!" was THE best. He doesn't get enough recognition. He was miles better than his Dad Foster and miles and miles better than the flamboyant, egocentric and deeply annoying Danny Galivan.

Yeah, I caught that as well.Gordie is just chewing away like a kid on recess. Wouldn’t be surprised if half the players had a few cigarettes between periods. Also the fans used to dress up, not down.
Sawchuk's goaltending is so hard to watch. It's like he's trying to cover as little of the net as possible. He must've been unbelievable in the late 40's/early 50's because any 60's footage of him seems to bad.

I fully agree. Though Foster was good, but Bill was perfect for play by play.
