Used to run a 69 Beetle in autocrosses put on by the SCCA chapter in Plattsburgh, New York. Great fun. Even more fun was in the wintertime, when we’d have them on the ice out on Lake Champlain.
@@spankthemonkey3437 So, I would like to think that the Light Weight of the VW Beetle would win the day, but unfortunately these Mazda's don't weigh much more, and they have 2 to 3 times the horsepower, so I am taking steps to move beyond the entry level so I can make modifications to increase HP a bit. Also the gear ratios are a problem. For the short courses, the Mazdas stay in 2nd gear and can rev to 7000 RPM. Right now I am looking at ways to get above the red line of 4200 RPM and also get a different 2nd gear ratio
