Maybe Cait didn't wanna put Maddie at risk because she believed she'd be an easy target when things went south. Though, that's probably gonna be an awkward interaction if they ever meet up again.
i kinda love the idea that Caitlyn must have switched up the moment Vi said "i'm trying to save my dad." Yeah, the "vi calls her 'cupcake' and cait folds immediately" thing is funny and cute and definitely a factor, but i think the more weighty reason is because Cait is still grieving her mom, and she are her dad are still seriously going thru it. She understands the ache of losing a parent now, and learning that the woman she loves is trying to save her dad (and might actually have a shot at doing it) hits her hard enough to backstab Ambessa Medarda aka the scariest woman alive. the power of love and sympathetic grief, baby
I love the thought of this sentiment. Cait now knowing what it's like to lose a parent, and is still grieving, changes her perspective and channels her resentment towards Vi for stopping her from bringing Jinx in to her own sense of "justice" and changes that conviction into determination and hope knowing that she can play a part in "saving Vi's dad". This also was a great moment of clarity for Cait to recognize Ambessa's manipulation of her dictatorship and saw this as an opportunity for her and Vi to right their wrongs and bring the proper justice Cait was previously giving out with oppression.
That explanation is much better. Cait would give everything for a chance to potentially save her mother, but that chance will never come so the least she could do is to try to save Vi's father.
It also adds onto the moment last episode where Singed explains why he created Shimmer: to save his daughter. She understands the lengths people are often driven to in saving the ones they care about, and that she shouldn't judge others as harshly for inadvertently creating monsters from good intentions - is she any different? The monster is often more human than we think, and Caitlyn is coming to learn that.

@@focusedstudying8993 Uhhh what? She's literally gay for being with Vi, they don't need to prove it over and over again. Plus the brothel scene already showed us that she's attracted to women.
All it takes Vi to call Caitlyn cupcake to make her switch... Could've saved Vi the trouble of going through self destruction if she said it earlier on ..
I think it finally clicked that Vi never stopped loving her and she would always have her back no matter what. Even when she went on a bender and punished everyone else for her grief. She finally understood what Vi meant when they broke up
1:37 Omg I am laughing so hard, when vi tells Caitlyn to hit her. You can see she’s absolutely stunned so hit her so hard but also when vi looks back like wtf. Caitlyn shrugs. You go to slow it down.
Ambessa should have pulled a Silco on Caitlyn haha: take Caitlyn fully under her wing, find Vi herself and trap her so she never bumps into Caitlyn, and keep Caitlyn as busy as possible to prevent her from looking for Vi xD
She pretty much did that and then some. She planted one of her agent to play as her "rebound"; gave her the job of dictator (lots of work), trained her in her own image as some sort of twisted motherly substitute and counted on Vi's liver to just give up sooner than later. She underestimated Caitlyn's kindhearted nature (she was clearly trying to escape Ambessa's grasp earlier) and the power of a hot goth girlfriend on mission to save someone in great suffering to get Caitlyn to snap and make rash but kindhearted decisions again.
they have a very high chance since Arcane lore needs to align with LOL lore for the most part by the end of the series and Vi and Cait are together in LOL. at the very least they'll get together again or will move in that direction in act 3
I think we’re more likely to see a Cait vs Ambessa fight, you know, former student vs mentor. Doubt it will be the final fight though, arcane vs everyone seems more likely
Given the teaser, we know for certain that we'll be getting a mano a mano fight between Cait and Ambessa, but I don't see it ending well for Cait. She has less than 1 year training, Ambessa has her entire life plus battle field expertise. Maybe is another plan? Maybe a team-up with Vi later? Or maybe someone that we never considered, like Mel. What I know in my bones is that Riot isn't done with us yet, Isha was just the beggining. The worst is yet to come.
It's nice to see an interaction between Ambessa and Vi but too bad they did not face off against each other because if they did it would be probably be the best fight in the show since Vi vs Sevika.
It probably just was sex so who cares? Caitlyn's and Vi's feelings run deeply. Plus Caitlyn was hyper avoidant towards Maddie. Vi had alcohol to try to forget her Cupcake. Caitlyn tried to get Vi out of her system with sex. Obviously didn't work for either of them. It might be a side note in a much more important discussion.
People act as if "rebound" doesn't exist. You can tell the differences in Cait's body language between Maddie and Vi. With Maddie, Cait seemed distant and passive, at least from what little we've seen. With Vi, Cait was always vulnerable around her. She would often lean into Vi's touch, seeking intimacy beyond just the physical. It will be interesting to see how they'd tie this mess up in the final Act, though.
They are still in love, but they hurt each other. So here, we can see that we still have opportunity to see them together again. But I don’t think it’s going to be the same.

Metaphorically. As in "significant guiding figure in her life, her self-proclaimed 'conscience' and giver of advice." Not literally. That's Maddie's job, apparently.
No, I don't think so. I believe she meant that, without Vi, Caitlyn was lost and hurt, so Ambessa seized this opportunity to take Caitlyn under her wing. Another interesting thing about Ambessa and Caitlyn is that conversation about "double edge sword". In the end, it seems that Ambessa really started to see Caitlyn not just as a puppet, but as a true pupil, almost a step daughter, and that opened her guard for Caitlyn's betrayal.
I've read somewhere that Meddie might be a Black Rose spy using Caitlyn to reach Ambessa. To be fair, I would prefer that Meddie was what she seems, this jovial happy and optimistic girl, because it would be more interesting to watch Caitlyn dealing with this break up. However, considering the show doesn't have that many episodes left, and Maddie is not a big character, I think they will get rid of her quickly or by saying she is a spy or by her just accepting Caitlyn never loved her and stepping aside.
