Is Haiwan uke and kado uke is same or not?

Thank you for your great question. Its not the same, yet similar. Haiwan-uke is a blocking technique performed with an open (or closed) palm that primarily uses the outside of the hand. When performing this technique, the palm is facing down, with the arm moving diagonally forward and outward to block the opponent's attack. This is a fairly powerful blocking technique that is often used to stop powerful strikes such as uppercuts or elbow strikes or mawashi-geri (examples).
Kado-uke is a blocking technique that uses both hands at the same time. To perform this technique, the palms are placed together in front of the chest, palms facing up. The arms then move away from the body, simultaneously opening in a wide arc to block the opponent's attack. Kado-uke is usually used to block punches with an opponent's fists or wrists. 🙏
