I have one that I'm trying to get going again. I used it when I was a kid, then one of my cousins had it. I found it in a shed where it sat for 20 years with fuel in the tank. Fingers crossed I can get it going again.
Sweet video, I just picked one of these up tonight, it was "locked up" so I sprayed some PB Blaster down the cylinders and broke it free, it started on carb clean (I know, I shouldn't do that) so now I will properly rebuild the carb and do a new impeller and hopefully it will run as nice as yours...thanks for sharing

My father found the one I have like this in a Pawn shop for $35 for my Canoe. Mine is a 1948 we believe. It has different side covers. My father passed but my 40 yr old son remember well being a small kid in front of the Canoe with our 3 HP pushing us to the swimming hole

Itse olen vaihtanut puolat+sytkäosat ja kaasarin tiivisteet (+useita kannentiivisteitä), mutta ikävä kyllä tuo jäähdytys aina välillä temppuilee kun akselin kiila tuppaa syömään vesipumpun kotelon yläosastaan rikki ja veden pumppaus lakkaa koska kiila ei osu enää vesipumpun rattaaseen. Olen ratkaissut ongelman sokalla pystyakselin yläosassa, joka estää akselin liiallisen nousun ylöspäin. Olen useasti ollut myymässä konetta mutta nyt aion pitää sen (25 vuotta takana) kun sain sen taas kuntoon.
Everything seems good to go with the exception of the carburetor. Would you happen to have any suggestions on where to get a carb kit? What worked best in your eyes?
I replaced the coils and spark plugs. Condensers are good. I bought some feeler gauges recently and the points are good. Motor has a nice strong spark. Cleaned magnetos on the flywheel. Carburetor was cleaned recently. Carburetor seals are good except for those packing washers. New head gasket and head replaced due to loss of compression from a bad head gasket and cracked head. New Head bolts. Water pump impeller was good. I cleaned the inside of the exhaust chamber and motor leg.
My motor has new coils now. Old coils were cracked and motor didn't ran well. That is common problem with older OMC's. I also installed a carburetor kit on mine. The carburetor has new seals and a float assembled. Points are set to 0.02". You should have those packing washers in the low speed needle seat. Your mixture is bad now and motor won't idle right. Maybe the carburetor needs new seals and good cleaning. After that check the ignition system.
Yes, they do have water pumps. It is a rubber kind of star wheel that propels the water up to the cylinders and it sits in the housing just near the propeller. I hope you understand. My first language is not English...
Hi, my name is Ian. I have a 1966 JW21E (very similar to this) that I am doing a full restoration on. I was wondering how you got yours running so well? That idle was amazing, and the full throttle was too! The problem with mine is that when I got mine it ran like that. But when the rubber packing washers went dry rot; they jammed up the low speed screw, and well I took them out and didn't bother replacing them. It won't idle worth crap and only runs at 3/4 throttle. Please help me. Thanks.

Kone oli jo joutua pariin otteeseen romustajalle mitättömistä syistä johtuen, mutta henkkoht pelastin sen enkä aio ikinä luopua. Kone oli yhteysveneen moottorina Kyyvedellä parikymmentä vuotta. On kyllä komea tuo sun Johnsoni. Mun mielestä Johnsonin 3 hp on aina ollut hienomman näköinen kuin Evari, vaikka tekniikka sinällään samankaltainen.
Terve. Kas kun joku muukin SUOMESSA fiksaa vanhaa OMC:n konetta, tuppaa nää olemaan vaan jenkkien harrastelukohteita. Itselläni Evinrude Lightwin 3 hp vm. - 63 pitkärikinen (kopan yläosa valkoinen,alaosa sininen), on mun jo edesmenneen isäni uutena ostama. Oon kunnostanut nyt sitä 2 vuotta ja alkaa olla teknisesti valmis koekäynnistykseen. Rakensin sytytyspuolen ja kaasuttimen täysin uusiksi, sekä vesipumpun ja alavaihteiston kaikki stefat uusiksi (sekoitti jo vettä ja öljyä).

What ratio do you mix your gas? I just got one of these relics.
I mix my gas in litres: 5 liters of gas plus 0.15 liters of oil. So the mixture has about 3 % oil into.

You should have those packing washers in the low speed needle seat. Your mixture is bad now and motor won't idle right. Maybe the carburetor needs new seals and good cleaning. After that check the ignition system.

Single carb adjustment screw must be their cheapest model. My 1967 has one adjustment (low speed) knob. $189.00 when new.

Maybe some online shop or ebay would be good places to get a kit.
