Very cool. Talking about IOT for vehicles, a couple of years ago I worked for a company installing and monitoring MDVR devices in trucks.. was a super fun ecosystem to play with as a junior but the software was Chinese and only windows server compatible and close source 😂 suffice it to say Chinese, windows and closed source should never be in the same sentence… Software was the CMSV6 type there’s various versions including one for police. They also do offer an SDK for mobile desktop and a web API but yeah 100% data goes back to mr xi especially the SQL big data. Funny thing is my boss didn’t give two turtle necks as long as things worked and clients were happy.. Oh I long for the post virus days back when tok tick was a nobody at least in the west. Seemed like simpler times.
SQLite isn't a replacement for "traditional" databases (ones with fleshed out servers like Maria, Postgres, and DB2). But a lot of applications that use traditional probably can be implemented just fine with SQLite. Its a very powerful tool largely because of its simplicity and because it doesn't ship with "features" like stored procs and user accounts. There's no overhead for projects that don't need those features. And bigger projects can implement the features that traditional DBs use. It puts developers and users back in control, instead of the silo'ed nature of DBs like MySQL
