- National champion Florida Gator Chris Leak returned to his Alma Mater sporting a GoPro to capture the reactions of his fellow Gators. But apparently 8 years is long enough for everyone to forget that you totally once won a National Championship as the school's starting quarterback. Awkward!

Anyone watching College Football in the early 2000's knew who Chris Leak was. He was a highly, highly touted QB comin out of high school. He was supposed to be the next Peyton Manning. He almost went to USC with Reggie Bush & Pete Carrol but decided to go with the Florida Gators because Matt Leinart was starting QB at USC. 2006 National title with Florida was all Chris Leak and he was the MVP of the game and it was well deserved, he never lived up to the hype and the championship setup Meyer and Tebow to carry on the legacy during that era.
I look up to Chris Leak. I want to play for Florida some day. As a receiver

A part of me wants to believe this is actually Chris leak. The way he stopped and just stared at Tebow’s statue would really say a lot about how he feels, lol.
Just imagine if Vince Young walked around the UT campus even though his career failed, he would be mobbed because everyone knows him. Even though it’s more recent imagine if Johnny Football walked around A&M...it would be insane

It's crazy how forgotten he really is. I'm not a UF fan, but I love college football. I was talking to an UF fan; we were discussing great college QBs. Of course I knew he'd mention Tebow but he mentioned Tebow won, 2 NC's as a starter. I was like nah bro, he only won one as a starter. He didn't believe me, and as a self proclaimed UF fan I couldn't believe he didn't know that Chris Leak won one before Tebow. I was like wow, and some fan you are.
Tebow played quite a bit in that game. TBH his play had a bigger impact in winning the game than Leak did. I remember watching this game. Coming from an LSU fan, Leak was maybe a little above average as a QB. Tebow clearly overshadowed him as a Fresh

If Leak was as you said "A little above average." Then what was Tebow? Because let's be frank at times he wasn't the best QB in the program. At one time UF also had Tebow and Cam Newton on roster. I don't think I need to go into how much better Newton is than Tebow, the longevity of Newton's NFL career speaks for itself. Leak was way better than Tebow. Leak could push the ball down field, Tebow couldn't do that. He was a battering ram, and excelled at throwing 5 yard passes to Percy Harvin, allowing him to make plays when healthy. Nevertheless, this is opinion based, I respect yours, not bad.
@@galenmerrick I agree Tebow was not an elite passer but he was a good enough one to put up big numbers in college. But he was still the best QB to ever play in college because of his other skills. Leak was a better passer than Tebow but not elite either. I think Leak would be in the top half of SEC qb's right now but not in the top 3.

If this really was Chris Leak then he should have looked into the mirror to prove it. That said, the video is pointless. I don't think Tim Tebow would have gotten that much more from the "crowd" I saw in this video. Myself, I have always been a Chris Leak fan and yes I would have recognized him. But that doesn't mean I'd be walking up to him if I saw him unless he was attending a public event where he's featured. These folks have their right to privacy and Leak is not very outgoing. The same can be said about Danny Wueffel. BTW, I did see Danny Wuerffel more than once on campus during the year that he won the Heisman and acted like I didn't recognize him. But then I couldn't wait to tell the story to everybody "I saw Wuerffel with his girlfriend at the Laundromat! " :)

The statues are of Florida’s Heisman trophy winners. Chris Leak didn’t win one and that’s why he doesn’t have a statue.
