@@ciararespect4296 Hi ciara, thanks a lot for your comment! And Im glad to help! So, I was thinking about this for a couple of minutes and also on other arpeggios and chords I would play, and for me, I personally come to the conclusion that I always prefer to have the connection 1-2 rather than 1-3. This comes from the fact that we are used playing chords in a manner of ascending fingerings without skipping: for example if you have a chord C-F-A-C, youd naturally play it with 1-2-4-5, never 1-3-4-5.
There are certain situations however, when we can break that rule: for example: if the gap (interval) is quite big for the hand. Then, we should "skip" to the next finger - so in this case, 3rd.
Or: when there is a black key, which is usually better reached by 3rd finger. Then we also can choose to do so.
Im a "safe" guy, I like to play what works, and I know that 1-2 is one of the strongest connections there is. Just cant beat that!
But also, my hand size / length is different than yours (probably), so when I feel comfortable, you maybe dont.
You said you feel a bit more comfortable with the 2nd finger? Then thats the solution! Comfort should always be the winner, because its basically your fingers saying "Yes, this is what I want to do". The only reason for you to switch would be if it puts you in danger of slipping, or of missing, or of getting tense. Then it would be a good idea to try 3rd for a week or two and see the results. Otherwise, keep 2nd.

I am learning this etude cureenlt, after op 25 nos 1, 2 and op 10 nos 3,6,9. The tutorial is very helpful! (as I am struggling a bit in the pinky overlaps...)

This seems to be a very divisive etude in terms of ranking. Most people say it’s either manageable or super difficult. For me it’s the latter because of the required endurance and stamina, and because my brain gets confused with the two different and constantly changing arpeggio patterns in either hand. To play it clean and note perfect at top speed is surely a major technical feat. Annique Gottler rated it as one of the most difficult for her out of all the Chopin etudes whereas you place it in the middle. A repertoire ranking site placed it roughly the same level of difficulty as the Heroic Polonaise though I personally find that WAYYY easier lol. This video was super helpful though :)

Thanks for your feedback :D yeah, i personally think it's somewhere in the middle probably a bit higher than middle. I think it depends a LOT on the hand. She might have a smaller hand than me (12th over here) so she can do certain things better and maybe certain things are harder for her? Anyways I'm glad you liked it !!

@@PianoTechSupport yeah very true she does seem to have small hands, though I have rather big hands so probably for me it's more a mental thing haha. When I'm clear headed I fare a lot better with it

I agree lol, my hand wants to play the same arpeggios at once lol

@@PianoTechSupport I think that for this étude specifically, hand size is not as significant as it may seem, since nearly all arpeggios are about an octave wide. So as someone who can comfortably take a 9th and can less comfortably reach a 10th, this étude has quite comfortable positioning for me. Personally, I find the endurance-aspect of this étude much harder.

I'm curious to see how you would interpret/explain Chopin's 2nd piano concerto (specifically the first [the funny fingering here and there] and third movements [the end]) PLEASE :)

@@PianoTechSupport hey! Just a little update, i actually gave up on this etude and have been grinding hard for a month to get the technique that i need to play this etude, i just started again today, i still remember all the chords and after rewatching your tutorial i tried to play the chords one by one then arpeggiate them wide, i managed to make it to the ending, although its still *far* from performable, i was pretty satisfied, i was also thankful that you're out there helping everyone for free.
      Thanks.
      Sincerely, R.
