40 years ago as a white man teaching in a black school, I adresed a Jr. High class, I made the following statement:
‘Never use the color of your skin as an excuse not to learn or succeed” 99.9% of the class rose from their seats and gave me a round of applause. I’m willing to bet that those students are continuing to learn and are succeeding in the greatest country (and least racist) in the world. God bless America and all of it’s citizens.

The young man said he was held for an hour for speeding at 15 mph above the speed limit. Driving 15mph above the speed limit is generally considered "reckless driving" and is a criminal misdemeanor.
He probably failed to mention his car smelled like weed.
As a white mother, I repeatedly told my son to behave the same way when being pulled over by cops. His father told him the same because cops are by nature on guard and expecting trouble.

I had 3 boys, 2 girls all in high school, in my house. I had very serious convos about being pulled over, being caught doing stuff that teens do, maybe being arrested. There is behavior that will get you deeper in trouble and there is behavior that will get you a smile and “ have a goodnight”, your attitude determines the outcome.
If you are drinking, smoking dope, or have a concealed weapon, no license, no registration you brought that on yourself, what happens next is your own fault.
It's not right to profile though I am afraid of all non Christians without morals.

That's why I shake my head at black Americans who say they're going 'back' to Africa because in their mind life will be better for them economically and socially. I was raised in a black community and became a police officer later in life. At that point I had become the enemy because I was in a uniform , my black friends decided I was the enemy. I was more understanding to the black community but finally got tired of hearing excuses from most blacks, and my true friends who were black are still my friends and they are hard working people who are not quitters!

I learned that when you get pulled over that you have license and insurance readily available and your hands are on the steering wheel for officer safety when they approach the vehicle... I am not an official, nor am I an officer, but I learned in my law school class that Officer safety and security is a must.... Officer safety is the Defense for anything......Hopefully it will not be used wrongly....Either way!!!!!!

I'm a white German and when I was a tourist in the US 2008 I was told to keep my hands on the steering wheel in a traffic stop when I was renting a car. They are so much caught up in their victim role that they think every single tiny obstacle or inconvenience that happens to them, only happens to them and only because they are black.

I was put in cuffs going 2 miles over. Three cop cars showed up. I was put in jail and my truck was towed. Thank GOD my Dad was close enough to bail me out or I would have been transferred to county. No priors, nothing illegal. I was actually coming from work filling in on my day off.

I am a older white woman and when I get pulled over I sit still with both hands on the wheel. I only move when the officer/s get to the window and talk to me letting me know I can get my info for him/her. And I always ask if I can get in the glovebox. AND I move slowly...... I have always done this and I will be 68 in 10 days.
If you are wrongly arrested you continue with a lawsuit and that’s it.

If someone calls you a nigger and starts shooting at you because you're making a delivery that they ordered on their property knowing that they can exploit the stand your ground law in that state to frame you as a perpetrator in a fictitious crime committed against them, and you narrowly escape with your life, and then your friends and family all have similar stories to tell, then you're going to be fearful too. Nobody's trying to convince anyone of anything. It's just the reality that many of us face, and many of you refuse to believe these things because you'd probably be the one pulling the trigger.

As for the young man claiming that he had his vehicle searched for an hour after being pulled over actually violating a traffic law, I've been through the same situation multiple times as a white man, and the cops themselves were also white. So, how is race relevant in that situation?

One of them was told to step out of the car and was frisked.

As a white boy I was taught to turn on the dome light in the car keep my paperwork easy to get out above the sun visor, keep my hands visible at all times and always be respectful to the police. They also warned me not to share more info than necessary, that cops are doing a job, they aren't your friend. Man everyone needs to understand to question authority but there's a time and a place.
