I love these podcast. There are a must watch every time they post. I am here for the discourse it's so refreshing. Even when Samson says something that makes me cringe, I love having the opportunity to remove the emotion, listen and learn. Honestly wish there were more opportunities to mix some of my favorite topics sports/politics/equity/socialjustice.
The least surprising thing ever is hearing Samson say he enjoys firing people. I think this clearly shows the difference between a good leader versus a bad boss. Both of them demonstrate that you can be good at your job while being one or the other.
Hilarious and brutally honest. He double downs a little later with "My unadulterated pleasure to do so". Love these discussions with Skipper and Samson.
Great conversation. Amicable discourse and informative commentary. This is really a great segment for the show. I believe in the future they will need to add another voice though. Times are a changing. Streaming and cable broadcast deals were far different when they were active in the industry.
I'm glad I caught this, I find Meadowlarks content interesting, but I absolutely agree that I don't want politics with my sports. I watch less sports than ever because I want an escape from the politics and don't get it with sports. Also why I only follow about 20% of this content. I want an escape from all that heavy crap, not another voice that is just rattling in the chamber.
Just wanna stretch my degree in Classics bona fides and point out that the term "political" means "having to do with the polis," polis being defined as the country, nation, or state in modern America. So yes, human rights, be it race, color, creed, or sex is absolutely political because it refers to issues having to do with the state, be it enacting or enforcing laws or legislation. 100% political. I think the confusion here is that the term "political" is wielded by people as a dismissive term associated with politicians' rhetoric and a separation between the obviously slight of hand speech a politician uses (compare to an athlete's QB-speech that makes an art of saying nothing). Or it's a term that's intentionally turned in on itself like the term "woke" weaponized by the right, or the term "bitch" (re-?)weaponized by women's rights activists. All this does is try to re-appropriate, mask, or dismiss the actual meaning or intention of the word. I don't think "bitch" worked well in the 90s as it still feels like a insult, imo. But There's so much obfuscation in political realities that the term's true meaning has been buried pretty successfully.
People have used a more narrow definition of politics for a while. You know the class trope of "we don't discuss politics or religion here" of 20th century America.
@@BasedKungFu yep. It's not a new phenomenon. But neither has politicians' words and actions been dissociated from practical realities of citizens lives. So yeah, "political" and "politician" have been carved out of the common consciousness as something unreal or removed from practical concerns. But was really excited to have almost relevant information from my college education. 😄
David's definition of politics vs. not seems to be tied up in whether or not there are two visibly defined sides, which I don't think is the line. Lobbying, whether done by MADD or gun control advocates, is inherently political. But more importantly, where to draw the line on what counts as political and what doesn't is ultimately a distraction from the need for action, and it's not helpful to get bogged down in it.
Why? It’s pretty self explanatory. Most high level, successful people take some kind of stimulant that probably isn’t legal. Sometimes it gets out of hand. If you work for Mickey Mouse and it gets out of hand you gotta go. And we are all very happy he’s ok and thrilled that his life choices now have him at Meadowlark instead of working for the Mouse.

Skipper and Samson should have a weekly segment there great together always informative while still being entertaining 👍
Thoroughly enjoy every time these two come on
My favorite part of the Show is these discussions with Samson and Skipper and whenever they have Tim Kurkjian on but that goes without saying.
It's an important discussion, I'm glad we're having it 👽🍻
Auqua?
Keep it coming with these two
Just made my day this is what we need to hear straight talk.Way to go Sampson Skipper and Dan.

David is hilarious. I like firing people lol

David sounds like such a small and emotionally underdeveloped person when he speaks that way
Well done! very informative 👏🏼👏🏼
David Samson is a real life Dale Gribble in that episode of King of the Hill of enjoying firing people.
Singularly one of the best “Sports” items on any podcast

Samson on firing people, lmfao! I'm sorry but I'm not going to apologize. It's funny.

Who you calling loco?!
Why is Dan trying to get Witty fired? Lol he doesn't have the same protection as you.

David firing an employee for wearing a Red Sox shirt is just plain stupid and entirely unjustifiable.
I’d really like to hear Skip talk about his coke addiction and resignation from ESPN.
😏

When Skip writes a book, you can buy it and read all about it.
He did a little bit with a interview with Dan when they started
What???? I thought he's just a great caring ahh shucks kinda guy. You know the everyman CEO 😂
Skipper cant figure out what fact vs opinion is...woof
