Whoever was in charge of the drums and guitar specifically should get a raise if they haven't already. The tone, while honoring the original Zombie, still also finds a way to stay true to the musicians in Deftones. If Deftones decided to do a cover of this I feel like this is kinda the way they WOULD cover it. Nothing beats the original, but this is well composed.
It's all the same guy. Unless his brother helped on drums.

This is actually a good point I’ve never thought about before.. so many covers of zombie try to sound too neat and pretty when it’s supposed to be kind of weary and desperate
"melancholic, angry, desperate" - to be fair, this applies a lot to Deftones as well, so it fits.
To not do it that way would be a betrayal of both bands.
Miley Cyrus did a live cover that is faithful to the original. The surviving band members even praised the cover and said they believed Dolores would have done the same.

On a similar note, the Deftones' covers album has some incredible renditions. Specifically, "Drive" and "Please Let Me Get What I want".
Simple Man and No Ordinary Love are SOOOOOOO good.
The Chauffeur is my favorite cover from them. Entire song is haunting yet mesmerizing.
Their covers of If Only Tonight We Could Sleep and Sleepwalk are also super dope.
Deftones is absolutely class, and this tracks fits Deftones very well.
This song can't seem to lose. I've enjoyed every version I've heard of it. This was expertly done.

You can not improve on perfection, which is what I feel the original 'Zombie" achieved, but you can match it, and this is that.
Shivers down my spine. That went right into my feels.
At first I was mesmerized, but then I was hit by a thunderclap!! The signature Deftones mood of desolation and dejection definitely was in the essence. But the performance itself was very emotional, and captured the "cry" and anger that lies in the meaning of "Zombie". Both is such a subtle transition that you don't understand where is one and where is the other.... Fantastic! I'm so so impressed!
So cool; you really captured Deftones 'lazy' style of singing.

The whole "I was around before you" thing kind of loses its edge slightly when it mostly just gives off early-onset dementia vibes.
This is actually the best version I’ve ever heard. How you take two bands and meld them together is incredible.

Man. You close your eyes and you can't tell me this isn't a Deftones track. It's one thing to copy or emulate a style but you absolutely slipped into the skin of both artists, captured the vibe, and somehow meshed them beautifully. I couldn't help but laugh a little at the eyes rolling back into your head lazy singing but you absolutely nailed this in every aspect. I was waiting on the screams and whispers to come through and you absolutely delivered - musically, vocally, and as a whole vibe.

I'm pretty jaded at this point when it comes to music, because I've listened to so much of it and everything is available at my fingertips now -- but THIS gave me CHILLS of the best kind; the kind I haven't experienced for years. It's that feeling of being transported into an alternate dimension just from a song, yet simultaneously feeling a sense of deja vu, as if you were always meant to experience this moment. Extraordinary!!!

At first the chorus kinda confused me, but after a while I just realized that the styles doesn't simply change the vocals/instrumentals to match, but the whole arrangement to capture the vibe. Then it made much more sense to me. Keep up the awesome work!

This is something you have to get use to. This is definitely done in a Deftones style. Chino has a phenomenal voice. I like the Deftones but without the words you almost can't even tell it's a cover song of Zombie.
Even though the voice doesn't match Deftones all that well in this case, so much of the rest does, that it's completely surreal and amazing. Thank you for this. I love it!

After having listened to this cover a hundred times already at least, right now I just listened to it after having spent an afternoon listening to the actual Deftones after a long period of not having played them. So, interesting detail I noticed about Anthony's fidelity to the Deftones style versus original Cranberries' arrangement: As is characteristic with a lot of Deftones songs, Anthony restrains himself on the first iteration of the chorus, but then jumps a heart-bursting octave at the last reiteration. _Zombie-eehee-eeeaaaaaaaaa!_ I just love that!
Also, as a guy who lives in a studio apartment in the middle of a city with lots of neighbours who impose a sonic curfew after 10 p.m., so I can't really get too loud without having the cops called on me, - I scream vicariously through Anthony's reverberating screams on this track and my! what a release at the end of a long day!

This is purely amazing. The amalgamation of the signature picks of Deftones and zombie's lyrics without losing the essence of Dolores's motives is a fine piece of work. But I will admit the closure was more of deftones.

I recommend starting with White Pony
Start at the beginning. Around the fur is one of my fave albums ever. Such a distinctive sound while still really heavy at that point. So many memories stuck with me because that albums was playing and hearing it takes me back. Adrenaline is pretty good. Then White Pony is a classic where they really got into their vibe and sound. I could write a novel about them and they were probably not even in my list of top 10 faves.

I just got back into Deftones after 20 years. White Pony was huge in my high school years and it touched me then. So all their albums after that one were new to me. It's awesome to hear 20 years of good music from one artist. The Ohms album is amazing also.

This is absolutely incredible. You managed to perfectly capture the Deftones sound style and also kept in all the parts needed to still give the melancholic feeling from the original song. The way in the later half of the song the vocals became more harsh and emotional just really sold the whole thing for me. 11/10
