Apparently the judge knows better than the psychologists. People react to trauma in different ways. Defendant said it was a factor, not the whole reason. I think the judge is over defending this mom and projecting because he did the same things to his mom and feels guilty. That being said the defendant was taking advantage of the mom probably as payback for his childhood.

He was done from the beginning of his testimony when he didn’t take any responsibility for his actions and blamed everything on his parents! I’m not completely doubting his testimony it’s just his lack of accountability that lost his case for him!

@4:32 I dont know whats what but ole Marlene seemed more shocked that he mentioned it publicly than at the thought of it being a lie. She never denied it. She was looking for judge to shut him up. He allows the children of crack heads to blame their parents but this guy can't claim that his addiction is in some part from his abusive childhood. GTFOH. He owes her but she seems like a very manipulative person. That voicemail proves it. It was one sided. Judge just looks for a chance to brag about what he is doing and claims to have done in the past. That man situation is not his.

Every single person is an individual with unique experiences and unique perspectives and abilities to process them. Some people grow up with biggots, abusers, addicts, etc. and they succumb to what they're taught and become that themselves... others fall into despair, and still others somehow overcome. But all are affected. Yes, it's absolutely believable that he turned to drugs to escape his feelings. And I'm glad he has been able to take positive steps forward. This court appearance didn't help matters. JM was absolutely wrong this time. The people who raised you should never get a free pass just because they did one or two descent things. They need to make the same restitution the drug users do. It starts with admitting their wrongs and making a genuine apology. I saw none of that here.
