Karna says, “You are right my Lord. A righteous man should not side with a sinner; but I am in debt of Duryodhan and cannot let him down.”

Pandava. He didn't want Karna and Arjun right each Other.
But he also knew they would eventually fight each other after his death. The real reason was if Karna and Bhishma were on 1 side pandavas would've lost. That's the main reason. Not the one u said.

The biggest disadvantage to duryodhan was the presence of Krishna on pandavas side.
I think bheeshma knew that, even if he wanted he wouldn't have been able to kill pandavas. And that is also the one of the main reason he and Drona revealed the way to defeat/them in battlefield to pandavas, when they asked.
Because if they didn't, somehow the all knowing Krishna will make sure that the pandavas knew about that.
Also Karna also knew he was on the losing side, as Krishna was on pandavas side
Hypothetical speaking, what if duryodhan would have chosen dronacharya as the Senapati at the beginning. And bheeshma couldn't have put have his condition of not including karna till he is alive
That way he could have had karna at his side from the beginning of war.
Also strategically, in spite of having a bigger and stronger army he was dependent on others.
He could have done this below
1. Knowing bheeshma will not kill the pandavas, he could have made bheeshma go after others in the pandavas army.
2. Karna could have fought arjuna from the beginning.
3. Have dronacharya go after yudishtir to capture him.
4. He fighting bheem as he was a better mace fighter than bheem
He could have won and ended the war earlier itself.
But his mistake was he depended on bheeshma, dronacharya, shakuni, Karna to do his bidding in the war.
Biggest disadvantage of duryodhan that he took the wrong side. And all wise people on his side knew because krishan told him that he will loose.

And if they had not been present then no one would fight from his side because no one will fight on the command of karana as he was a sut- putra. And war would simply had not happened or would have happened only between pandav and kaurav. No army would have involved.
@@ajaybhathire3297 You are wrong, It doesn't matter whom Duryodhan has choosen or what strategy he could have used, The main reason he lost because he was wrong and he was fighting for his pride and hatred towards Pandvas which ultimately put him on the side of Adharma and on the other side Pandavas were fighting for their land, their rights and their life which put them on the side of Dharma, That's why even facing all the odds in the battlefield, Pandvas won in the end, The Dharma won in the end.

Lol. Satyaki didn't kill karna because of arjun pratigya. Bhima could have killed karna atleast 2 times in Mahabharata but don't want to break arjun vow.
In Mahabharata, due to vow, lot of character restrained.
Ex--1) bhishm don't want to kill pandav
2) arjun, nakul, yudhishthir, sahdev, satyaki and many more didn't try to kill 100 kourav because of Bheem vow.
3) Bheem and satyaki didn't kill karna because of arjun vow.
4) karna didn't try to kill nakul, sahdev, yudhishthir because he promised with kunti.

You made some good points. However, it was actually Karna who refused to fight under Bhishma as he classified Karna as a half ratha. Karna felt humiliated and for that refused to fight under Bhishma.
The readon was that many soldier would have opted out if bheeshm was not included as their loyalty was toward bheeshm
