I now know everything I need to know to make a successful purchase of either. Lots of good information. Sawyer sucks in my opinion. They are the mountainhouse of the water filter world LOL
I loveeeee my Sawyer squeeze! I need to do more videos on it thanks for all the ideas! I love my platypus 2L plastic collapsible bottle too so I’m interested in this filter. Nice video thank you!
Awesome comparison! I switched to the platypus quick draw this year and I can say I’m never going back to sawyer. The sawyer slows down way too much on multi day trips. I also used to use the BeFree and it actually left me stuck on several trips. Usually after the second or third day. And that was filtering mostly clear water. So far the platypus has outperformed both. I love the bottom cap and the fact it doesn’t have an O ring to lose. The only downside is the amount you can filter over it’s lifetime is less than the Sawyer but I doubt anyone can get the full 100,000 gallons from a Sawyer. I also usually replace mine every year or two anyway for performance reasons having something that filters that much water isn’t necessary for me.
We've used the Versaflow Hydroblue since we started. Its been great. Then we picked up the Sawyer Squeeze just cause... everyone else had it (great reason!) I've thought about the Grayl.... now there is the platypus!! SO many good options. Great job breaking down the differences!
Thanks. I have seen the Versaflow but never used it. The Sawyer has always been a great option but when it was time to replace I was really wanting to try the Platypus Quick Draw. Those Grayl filters looks sweet but I think they are a little bulky for backpacking. They would be great for day hiking or overlanding. Of course this is all my opinion. Lol. Take care Rugged Mountain Gang!
Been looking at these. Thanks for all the info! We have been wavering between the Katadyn BeFree and the Platypus. Been using the Sawyer for a while and have been happy with it, but love the sealed bottom cap and the better flow or the Platy or BeFree
I really like that hinged cap that the Platypus comes with. I also like that end cap to seal it up. I'm happy with my Sawyer but the Quickdraw fixes some mildly annoying oversights that Sawyer could have fixed years ago
It looks like a good filter. Since we're in the lowlands of Indiana I keep 10 aqua tabs in my first aid kit. That's enough to keep a bad filter from ruining a trip.
You've neglected to mention the Sawyer Squeeze filters down to .01 micron size particles. Platypus QuickDraw filters down to .02 micron size particles which is THE reason the Platypus has a higher flow rate. Bottom line is the Sawyer Squeeze filters 1 million gallons of water & will filter out .01 micron size particles. Most of us with a Squeeze have long ago replaced that gasket with a neoprene aftermarket gasket that stays put. The trade off is the QuickDraw has a cap on the bottom, filters 1,000 gallons & will filter out .02 micron size particles. Warm Regards from Reno, Nevada

Thats what I do here THG. I give valuable information.

The squeeze has been my go to for a long time. Just thought I would try something different this time. Thanks for watching!
This Platypus is becoming a hot topic. Might have to try it out! Great comparison Brian!
Thanks Taylor. I really like it. It could be real competition for the Sawyer Squeeze.
Started with sawyer mini, switched to BeFree, then to Platypus. LOVE it. Best of both worlds. Fits standard bottle (befree does not), great flow rate.

Thanks. I have had great results with the platypus. I recently used it on a week long section hike of the AT and have zero problems.
Great comparison. I have been seeing this and have thought about getting it. Well done. Crow✌️
Thanks Crow. After having the Sawyer for so many years it will be interesting to see how this holds up.

Hello Brian, very good comparison. Thanks.
Thanks John! Hope all is well with you.

The end caps are a feature I really like about it. And the flow rate seems like its faster than the Sawyer.
Nice review, good information. Take care
Thanks. Take care!

May have to get one of these.
I definitely like it so far.
I use the Sawyer not yet ready to replace but 🤔 I always carry tabs in my first aide kit just in case though
I have always used the Sawyer as well. Just had to try something new this time.
I think I need one. The best part is capped on both ends!
Yeah. Thats a game changer. I am really digging it. If you get one let me know what you think.

It does look like it will be a good filter. Keeping some aqua tabs as a backup is always a good Idea!
My QuickDraw slowed to 3Lin 1:40 sec after only 10 gallons through it. Back flushing didn’t help.
Sawyer lasts longer and cleans more water, smart water bottle top can be used to backflush
Honestly I will just stick with the Sawyer, it has always been there. Tried and true for me. You have done a great job with the comparison.
Thanks Mike. I have always had great luck with the Sawyer. They make a great product. I just can't help myself sometimes when a new product comes out.

The spec is 100,000 gallons, not a million. And no one believes 100,000.
Nice. Squeeze has a lifespan of 100,000 gallons.
100,000 gallons. Got ya. I knew it was something crazy like that.
So how do you say it? Cnoc? Or Cnoc? I've heard it said both ways. 😜
Right! Could we please get a definitive answer on this?
Might be nice to see them in action instead of describing it all.
Thanks. I appreciate the feedback.
Let’s take both of em to Deam And filter some pond water! And after you taste test…. Then we’ll know which one is better.🤢🤢
Ugh. I filtered out of Terrill ridge pond one time.....never again.🤮🤮
million gallons my ass ! ....... LMFAO !!!!!!!
